Eeee I heard her saying: "DASH is a cure for btc all problems...."

Well, me too have a transaction that is waiting for confirmation for several hours ! Now that is clear signal to move from bitcoin to something more usable. Hmm DASH or MONERO?
Just kidding :-)

I wonder if the network effect (I mean people used to use Bitcoin) will ever allow any change to this. As far as I see the only crypto actually used for payments today are BTC and LTC. The adoption of all other coins combined is tiny compared to them. Dash looks like the most capable replacement but for some reason it isn't popular. I think more people know about Dogecoin than about Dash.

That's one reason we need a PR Company.

This is an interesting point. (40,000 unconfirmeds now. Some people saying that it's only zero fee transactions - paying ones are unaffected by the delay).

the real funny thing about people stress testing. it can actually be done for free.

by making transaction after transaction of zero fee transactions to bloat up the mempool. knowing miners dont fill blocks with free transactions often. the method of sending endless free transactions can cause more issues then spending money trying to fill blocks.

imagine it, trashing mining pools and it taking the pools time to reboot and resync and grab the unconfirmed transactions again. just to crash again.. at no cost.

which is another reason why more blockspace is needed. not just for the premium fee's to get accepted but also more of the zero fee transactions too.

but atleast this test is proving one thing. adding a fee is no guarantee to be added to the very next block, especially if there is no capacity if over 4000 transactions all have a premium fee

Bitcoin core 0.12 is going to auto-market itself to high fee paying customers.

What will happen is that when the mempool fills up, the lowest fee paying transactions get kicked out and the miner's minimum relay fee parameter self adjusts up the way to match that fee. Pretty neat, except it's kind of Paypal through the backdoor. Not a flat rate, frictionless system anymore.

See "Memory Pool Limiting" paragraph in here.

https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.12.0

So maybe Amanda B Johnson just wasn't paying enough fee for her transaction, even though her wallet said the fee was "normal".

Built-In Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

I hope there's a physical on/off switch for both. Probably not though as that would add to the manufacturing costs.  Undecided

Activity 1 and
dash-qt with 996kb ?

Yep, that's an obvious scam/trojan:
- unzipped size is 17 Mb and original binaries are 35 Mb.
- there is no way dash-qt can be zipped to 1 Mb, usually zip rate is ~50%
- virustotal (also see "File details" tab there)
  - scam https://www.virustotal.com/ru/file/47e39e990dd24208f08d36a1ef974117084d99daee835a5ae47d836452109948/analysis/
  - original binaries https://www.virustotal.com/ru/file/c0f0dc5d11d726cbd0bf10395e550d0921cac6be136cdbee786027eb0b1b128c/analysis/

Conclusion: DO NOT DOWNLOAD

PS. MCoinDevTeam, it's not even close, you should try harder Cheesy

Lots of threads springing up about the new BTC slowness. DASH could benefit from this, but there seems to be an awareness issue. For example:

"Altcoins recommended for payouts
Postby Steve Sokolowski » Mon Feb 29, 2016 10:43 pm
The bitcoin network has maxed out its capacity and, as a result, the transaction we sent this morning to pay users remains unconfirmed after 16 hours."

https://forum.safenetwork.io/t/altcoins-recommended-for-payouts/7554

The poster goes on to list several candidate alt coins, but DASH is not among them (yet).

Hope DASH will soon grow there to " bitcoin size network" .

Yep. It really looks like it's finally happening. We are going to start getting the overflow of crypto traffic. Here's why:

- Blocks are already full (take into account the 700kb mempool limitation for some of the miners)
- Block halving is coming, which will cause lower throughput in blocks, somewhere between 400kb and 760kb*
- Segwit - 2x throughput
- Compressed signature scheme - 2x-5x throughput (I forget the name of this ?)
- 2MB blocksize - 2x throughput
- 4MB blocksize - 2x throughput
- 8MB blocksize - 2x throughput

All combined we'll have 40x throughput onchain and infinite off-chain, however the tx volume historically has growth 2-3x per year. Can they keep up until lightning is online with wallets? At 2x growth we'll need 8MB throughput at the end of three years (2018). At 3x growth we'll need 27MB throughput... Also consider the fact that hardforks without a governance method take about 1 year to deploy. It's going to be a hard couple years for the Bitcoin project it looks like.

Where's the rest going to go? Fiat? Roll Eyes

We also have a governance and budgeting scheme. We're golden to build something much more scalable and decentralized than Bitcoin. I've never been so optimistic than now about our place in the ecosystem. There's only a small percentage that even understands that we've solved all of this already and the information is getting out.

If you build it... they will come.. right?

* If blocks are full and 10% of the miners turn off at the halving, it actually causes theoretical limitation of blocks to be about 10% less each. That creates a backlog, which will cause problems for the network, making it harder to transact on. Thus, that volume will leave the ecosystem. This is why it's so important to have a good difficulty algorithm backing your currency. We are immune to this.
