I can confirm that you can run the node with your local wallet cold. The way to check is look at the debug.log of the remote server, each masternode is assigned an identifying number  from 0 to n. Search your ip and find your number. After that each time a masternode is selected the debug.log shows winner n. Search for your number and see if your node is being selected, mine are although my wallets are cold. Hope this helps.

I think we need a easy way to check if your Masternode is configured correctly.

We'll have it on the 25th. If you get paid, it's correctly configured, if you don't, it's not. It would be nice to have something before though.

But it can be some time before your Masternode will "win" and receive payments with the current number of Masternodes.
So when you receive no payments your Masternode could either not be configured correctly or you could just be extremly unlucky.

Still think we should figure something out!
My suggestion:
As we have this list of masternodes (http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html) thanks to the great chaeplin Smiley, how about adding another row "Masternode election won count" (Maybe even a second one "Masternode election won last 24hrs"). It would be great if you could add this chaeplin! Apparently the information is there (see Minotaur26 post) it's just not easily accessible.
So if you want to check if your Masternode is configured correctly and getting elected before the payment starts you can just check your ip on the website

EDIT: And it would still be useful after the payment started, because everyone could check how well distributed the winnings are etc...

Hi everybody,

I have a problem with my wallet, my wallet tell me I have a quantity of darkcoins and the block explorer tell me another quantity, which is the problem?.

examples:

Thanks.

Post data: it´s the same direction

The rest must be in another hidden change address in your wallet. Just run listaddressgroupings in your wallet debug console. And you will see, no worries.

MASTERNODE REQUIREMENT WILL ALWAYS BE 1000 DRK:

Masternode requirements are going to be 1000DRK forever, for the following reasons:

- We need a bunch of masternodes, but more is NOT better. They cause chatter on the network saying they're still around and more memory usage everywhere. It's also more processing for the nodes to figure which to use.
- We want them to be reasonable expensive to start now and insanely expensive down the line.
- This will cause a feedback loop which will create upward pressure on price of darkcoin even making it more expensive to start one of these in the future (I detail this concept here: https://darkcointalk.org/threads/darkcoin-update-masternode-requirements-masternode-payments.225/)
- Every client on the network needs to keep a list of all of these, we don't want a list of 100k
- 10k masternodes @ $1000 is the same thing as 50k @ $200. The only difference is a lower barrier to entry and lower end equipment. In either case it would cost a million to add enough nodes to see half of the traffic.
- Also the clients need to download this list upon booting up
- There's also a consideration for the masternodes themselves. We have 576 blocks per day, If there's 10000 master nodes that means they'll on average get paid once every month and a half. I feel like if that number goes any higher we'll have nodes that won't want to wait to recoup their investment.

When will masternodes be brought down to 500drk each?  Grin

There is no plan to reduce the masternode price, sorry.  I assume that if there was a problem keeping enough people interested in running masternodes, that the price would then be reduced.  But if enough people continue to run them, it will not.

Also, regarding an earlier question from someone, I believe Masternodes will earn 10% of all mining profits, so that means when fees are implemented to keep miners working, 10% will go to masternodes.

Fair enough. Guess I better buy some more dark while its cheap.
its hard to know whats going on, its the pump and dump time...

If I may suggest, the volume is really low right now, I suspect, due to most people in the United States being asleep.  A good time to buy, unless of course, it continues to go down due to no interest.

But I suck at markets, so blah!  It's what I see at the moment, but I'd never sell on that info, LOL.

So now any coin can implement CoinJoin and claim to be the new DarkCoin?

This is just one aspect being developed:

Improvements over this mixing solution are due to include the following features:

* Master Nodes These nodes handle the mixing through random selection -

They are responsible for being the authority of what goes into the joined transaction each session.

Have you tried contacting Cryptsy?  I remember someone had the same problem and cleared it up with cryptsy, unless this is a problem with syncing?  You might want to re-sync your wallet as well?

I'm in the DRK very long term, possibly with a large part as a permanent store of value - as weird as it may sound.
If nothing bad happens, I can't see the point of changing all into BTC, or worse yet FIAT and get all the money on the whim of banks/gov.
Private, anonymous store of value and transactions...can't get much better than that.

I got several colleagues, friends, family with sizeable stashes into crypto too (they mostly got DRK, and a bit of BTC too), none so far even think about selling too, most is long term, on 1-2 year "schedule"

I'm still liking this picture  Grin

When I saw the website darkcoin.io how it was like a month ago without the blue menus at the top. Looked sexier imo than how it is now.  I thought that this is something with huge potential. No other alt coin website/design so far has given off that aura for me.

Website is still very much a work in progress.  But I assure you we have good people on it Smiley

I'll probably close this survey down after the weekend, so vote, vote, vote:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=579976.msg6335710#msg6335710

We are still ahead on this survey, so vote, vote, vote:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=568166.msg6188433#msg6188433

And we are doing well on this survey, so don't forget to buy, buy, buy (holding is also permissible)

No they can't.

Because CoinJoin is a client side technology, so it only works for payments, not receipts.

Meanwhile, when it comes to privacy, most people are far more secretive about their income than their expenditure. CoinJoin is no use there because you haven't got any control over what client people are using to send you money. All it can do is hide the transactions that you are making outbound.
