DarkCoin-qt gives a different total amount of DRK than the block explorers. When I look at the explorers I can find the "missing" DRK's. They are sent to a different account together with a 15 DRK transaction (I actually did a 15 DRK transaction).

That's because of so called "change" addresses your wallet generates automatically almost everytime you spend, and that are part of anonymity features. They can end up holding a lot of coins, and don't appear directly in the known addresses.

You can list them with "listunspent" in the debug console.

Also, they're the reason why you have to backup your wallet often, as new private keys for those change addresses are generated every time.

The trust scores you see are subjective; they will change depending on who you have in your trust list.

i am shure this was discussed earlier... but anyway it is importatn not only for me...
today i was setting up my own wallet on my mac to get my funds from the exchanges for security reasons...
i decided to do the following to secure my wallet.dat. after transfering my coins i formatted 2 USB sticks
than i copied the wallet.dat on the first stick  - and moved the wallet.dat on the second stick...
now there is no wallet.dat on my computer anymore. next time before i start the darkcoin-qt i will move the wallet dat from one of the sticks back in place.
the question i can not answer myself... is moving the file realy moving it or is the wallet.dat still somewhere on my computer... and can be found by an hacker in case he can find a way to get into my mac???
thank you for an anwer that is non technical enough for me

I think the wallet.dat file is sitting in that place only so if you moved it - it's moved. But in case you have Time Machine on your mac hacker can easily restore it if he get access to your mac so you'd better remove all backups of it from Time Machine too. More info on how to do that: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11241

delete the wallet and open the client  to overwrite it with an empty one.. shouldnt be recoverable i think

after i moved the wallet.dat to the second stick there is no more wallet.dat that i could delete... that is the reason i am moving and not copying it.

Ok ... so i'got fucked by the darksend mixing ...
what can i do now ?

Get in touch with MintPal...

Also given the mix'n matching that happens in major exchanges, darksend is rather pointless, MintPal will mix heavily its inputs and outputs anyway, just generate a new address at the exchange, and you'll be more anonymous than dozens of darksend rounds.

Also a side effect of exchange mix'n matching is that when withdrawing, if you're very unlucky, you could look suspicious:

- bad guy sends 1000 DRK to MintPal on deposit address EVIL666
- good guy withdraws 999.9 DRK from MintPal to address GOOD777
- MintPal says hey, I've got a 1000 DRK deposit, that's easy, and sends 1000 minus 0.1 fee from the previous deposit

Now, in the blockchain it looks like EVIL666 sent directly to GOOD777...

When DRK hits $100 a masternode will be worth 100,000 bucks
Who will risk running such a server besides security geniuses?

Could this become an issue. will future masternodes require less DRK?

Evan said he is not considering lowering the DRK requirement for masternode. 1000DRK is reasonable enough and will make the 51% attack harder in the end

The masternode wallet holds 0 coins, the 1000 drk remain in a cold wallet, you just connect that wallet once to activate the masternode, and as long as you dont move the coins the masternode remains active there is 0 risk of loosing your coins as they are held in a cold wallet.

Edit: 51% attack is a blockchain thing where you dont want a single party to control 51% of the hashing power. In masternodes you would probably need 80% or 90% of the nodes under your control to try and deanonymize transactions and even then if in a round of mixing it goes through a node you dont control boom its anonymous, so 100% of the nodes would be the only certain way if you use several rounds of mixing.

What we need next is someone with some programming talent to make a site like a pool, but you buy shares of a masternode. So when masternodes are much more expensive, they could still be divided down to a reasonable level. This would also allow someone who was not computer savvy to invest in masternodes, which is optimal.

I suggest the software not be based on anything existing, so it could become a darkcoin advantage over the competition. It seems pretty simple though, you buy shares for 1DRK, then it has some screens for stats and it pays out dividends much like MPOS.

Until the wider adoption, it's really mostly up to the big boys where they want the price to be.

They'll go in shorter/longer cycles (where they make money) higher and higher until they meet too strong resistance.

Where that point is - no one have idea, not even the players.

It's good for everyone - except those who act on impulse, or try to trade without doing homework.

We are not far off the majority view. Will do another price survey in June.

For now, a new survey

What about the general needs for the privacy, day to day, regardless what one does with the coins?
Would that be under the "eCash" option?

Did anyone else notice that in the Windows Binaries ZIP (Windows 1.3 avx-aes: http://download.darkcoin.fr/darkCoin-cpuminer-1.3-avx-aes-windows-binaries.zip) both
minerd-core-avx-i.exe and minerd-corei7-avx.exe are exactly the same files? A checksum comparison gives the same result. I'm trying to write a little setup script for my buddies to set up the miner on their computers and noticed this.

I don't think so, you share only one masternode in a server not all of them.

I don't think so, you share only one masternode in a server not all of them.

Plus, remember the people that have 1000 drk plus will set up their masternodes regardless without the use of such a service. So the idea will only add to the total number of masternodes. Ergo, decentralization will be as good as it was without this multipool type masternode service maybe a little better.
