Jack you are getting pretty close.  I've got a personal rule that says if it won't reach ROI in 3 months, it's too risky of an investment.

Being very optimistic with my calcs, at $2/MH/s-day:

LA3M will reach ROI in 166 days
Blade will reach ROI in 139 days
KNC Titan will reach ROI in 20 days

I have 20 gridseeds and love them, but this worries me.

I am sorry with KNC's current Neptune situation you can not count on an early delivery of the Titan or even possibly an on time delivery so it is impossible to determine what the difficulty will be at launch time thus making a ROI analysis nearly impossible.  Pre-orders are a risky business especially when they are 3+ months out, but that is the current environment we live in until miners no longer support funding a companies new ventures and wait until they have products in stock.

Hence why I made it clear that those were very optimisic calcs.  But to add to your point, if the ROI of the Titan is significantly lengthened by difficulty spikes, the ROI on these miners would be never occur.
the key is when have the stock ready.

Yeah, I wasn't debating that point since it calcs to >6 months which is never a good sign in the cryptocurrency world, but I didn't want anyone to get too focused on the Titan.  KNC is waning as a trusted manufacturer, but to be fair we just entered Q2 which was within their predicted time frame for the Neptune’s release.  I hope they deliver and keeping with the past the miner exceeds expectations, but when KNC starts releasing emergency plans: refunds, 3T cloud mining, or a used 3T 28 nm product you get a little worried.

Price is getting better all the time.  Smiley

Gridseed cannot put in the future hundreds of these chips on higher Mhs systems.
Imagine a 15Mhs unit would have 240 chips installed, or a 150Mhs would be 2400!

They must be in the process of finalizing a pure ASIC type chip that has no SHA-256
in the design. Then we should see even fast speeds per/chip and less watts per/Mhs.

Yeah, makes me wonder whether the prices will drop even more soon? I don't want to have a miner again which is already impossible to sell without a major loss when it arrives  Undecided

If you wait better prices, you will get them, but you must wait forever - as priced will drop continuosuly in the next months. If you want mine, maybe you should buy? asiabtc is good seller.

I think Hashra there is no limit as you can just buy one at the
$1500 price, they will have stock or ship on May 17th.

Jack is you price for individual units or do you need the 500 order blanket?
Also what is your expected shipping time if I order next week?

They are legit, but not sure what they actually offer thats any different to any other reseller. They are based in the UK they still ship direct from the factory in China meaning the one thing that you would benefit from them being a UK company which is not having to deal with all the shipping/duty/vat stuff doesn't apply. Its no different than ordering from any of the other group buy deals from what I can see.

I'm not sure if it matters or not, but Hashra is listed as an official overseas reseller on the gridseed website. Lightningasic isn't outside of China from what I've heard.

Does anyone see a trend here?

Some of the first bitcoin ASICs were 333MH (bfl doesn't count) and were sold at $100.  10 months later and they now are not even worth $1.
Then along came the 5GH block erupter blade and were sold for $500-$600.  8 months later and they are barely worth $20.

The prices for these scrypt asics are way too high.  At best these would ROI by the time Titans come out.  That is if we are lucky and things stay the same.  If we go by history profitability has been declining 100% every month since December.  If and only IF we are so lucky for things to stay the same, by the time that 6 months is up they will be useless and all that time/effort would have been for nothing.

To be honest I don't know if I'd even pay the $1200 I quoted earlier.  $1000 each and that's a maybe.

This is not to say your products are not good, they are indeed spectacular and 6 months ago I would have happily paid the full $3000 price tag for each unit.  Actually I probably would have paid 4-5k for each.

And when you think about it, it's basically a heatsink enclosure with 2 circuit boards.  I bet it doesn't even cost more than a few hundred bucks to produce.  There is no need to assrape the public with these outrageous prices.
the problem is : 1, coin price crashed. and i warned all my clients, and even here i warned all member of bitcointalk forum. 2, the difficulty riseed too fast.
in order to help whole coin system, LIGHTNINGASIC are trying best to provide good miners, good price. and delivery in time. we dont do more then 2 monthes pre-order.
i am trying best to talk with Gridseed to give more discount. USD1000 for LA3m is reasonable now. and it will be good time to enter mining biz.
buy coins or buy miner, its good timeing now.

Production cost has NOTHING to do with difficulty. This still doesn't  address the point made before: "And when you think about it, it's basically a heatsink enclosure with 2 circuit boards.  I bet it doesn't even cost more than a few hundred bucks to produce.  There is no need to assrape the public with these outrageous prices."
