Hey I'm still curious about the multisig abuse. Why would someone create a multisig address that nobody has the keys for, in essence locking those funds up forever? Are they just a nuisance (spam) or is there some kind of malicious intent I'm not seeing here?
Also how would you know if nobody has the keys for the multisig? Is there some kind of verification on your part? I don't how that would work. For example, a 1-of-20 multisig where the first key is the real owner, and the other 19 are strings of data that can't even be valid keys. They only need the 1 valid key to spend it later.

Last question then I'll drop it. What is the motivation? What is the point for the strings of "junk data". Are they just trying to embed spam type messages in the blockchain? Again forgive my lack of imagination here... EDIT: This article answers some of the questions I have. I didn't even consider some of the uses talked about in the article such as: “Most controversial [are] things like Counterparty and Mastercoin”, said Coinwall’s Ortutay. “They try to use the block chain as a datastore for various protocols, where things like bids/asks are embedded in bitcoin transactions.” http://www.coindesk.com/new-forms-spam-bloat-bitcoins-block-chain/I'm sure the use of blockchain type systems/technology is whatever people want it be but yes it would be better if they would use their own side chain to do their dirty work. Ultimately it's up to the miners to decide what transactions they want to include in their blocks, so with that said I will be at the next discussion Elgius has about the pools policies. Thanks for putting up with my curiosity.

Is Lukejr involved with Eligius? I read he was out of it, but wanted to get confirmation.

I write the code, wizkid057 runs the pool. Why do you think it matters?

I write the code, wizkid057 runs the pool. Why do you think it matters? Just kind of like to know who I'm in business dealings with lol Actually, I was just catching up on some reading regarding the blacklisting issue. Then I wondered if arbitrary blacklisting of addresses or other "hanky" (my word) could/would be done on pools you were involved with. I don't really have a stance one way or the other as long as it's disclosed. I understand your logic behind it, but my view point is it should have been vetted before publishing. So that was the reason for the question regarding your current involvement with Eligius. As far as I'm concerned, it has now been asked and answered. Thanks.

It was always disclosed, both for Eligius (for years now) and Gentoo (although ambiguously to someone not familiar with "Luke-Jr's patches", which I hope to improve on). It's also not arbitrary, but based on clear technical reasoning.

And believe it or not, you don't have to defend or justify yourself to me. Your skill set, expertise and passion for bitcoin is more than I would ever wish to have or understand.

Ah, I think most people take it as "based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system". Hardly use of authority either when people can choose whether or not to use it, but *shrug*. :p

Luke still implying the choice was transparent, when the choice was default and obfuscated.
Luke, you're saved, brother. No sin on earth can keep you from glory. Revel in it and be glad.
But for the rest of us, your innocence ranges from funny to exasperating.

Luke still implying the choice was transparent, when the choice was default and obfuscated. Poorly documented, yes. But definitely not obfuscated. Go troll somewhere else. Luke, you're saved, brother. No sin on earth can keep you from glory. Revel in it and be glad. P.S. Nobody is saved until they die in a state of grace (ie, free of mortal sin), and even then they only enter Heaven when they are made perfect by God.

Go troll somewhere else.
I troll where it's called for. While of the flesh, you're subject to it, the same as anyone.

You call this "disclosed"? Transactions without a fee will be processed based on confidential anti-spam testing. Transactions that seem likely to be spam may require a higher fee.

I'm just glad the pool works! Now if only Bitmain would fix the S4 so I can point it here and get the hash I'm suppose to be getting, it'd be a good day.

Do you have other hashpower pointed here? Maybe run a stratum proxy and point your hashpower through it ... and once the proxy difficulty gets up to 1024, point your S4(s) to it. M

M Thanks for the suggestion. I've got the S-4s pointed to CK until this gets resolved. I've still got my dragons pointed here. I was spoiled early on, so these current payouts really aren't a big deal if I miss a couple.

I'd suggest asking Bitmain to switch to BFGMiner, which can request a (starting) difficulty from Eligius among many other benefits. They sent a S1 for development a long time ago, but never followed up with documentation or future products. I can only guess they believe there might be a lack of demand - in which case their customers need to be more vocal in expressing the need to them.
