We want to do good things. If the foundation of our coin (the logo) is offensive to some or many, would this not go against the idea of the coin?

what are you talking about how is a wheel offensive to anyone? nobody is suggesting putting swastika or nuclear symbol on the coin .. jeez...

a wheel is no more symbolic than an elephant or a smiley face... all the wheel represents is movement along a path... a path which hopefully most people would like to share..

yes I agree I would be concerned if someone wanted to put a masonic symbol or something with a hidden agenda on the coin... but cmon man lighten up and actual read what Dharma wheels are all about before you go saying they are symbols of any particular religion.

If you say so.

But please let me know when you've asked the people for whom the dharma wheel means something significant.

Relax, man. It's Karmacoin.

Relax, man. It's Karmacoin.

You don't have to like or approve of the Dharma wheel logos friend, but don't let's start calling it offensive when it has been stamped on coins all over Asia for hundreds of years - it is no more or less offensive than Yin Yang or the lotus leaf, all of which have religious meaning.

Put it to the vote. The Dharma Wheel, The Lotus Logo, The Aum Logo, The Yin Yang Logo, and the Elephant logos. Whatever will be will be Smiley

Personally I think it is a bad idea to put an elephant on the logo of a coin called 'Karma' when there already exists an elephant altcoin. However, if that is what the community decides then that is what should be.

Yes, as I've always said.. what we think doesn't matter. We need to poll our target market to get clear direction. I doubt that will happen, so I suppose the vote is the next best thing.

guys what are you thoughts on leaving funds in mintpal, do you trust them not to go down any time soon? have they secured the server in a way to prevent the issues we have seen with other markets recently?

reason i ask is i am back at work next week, so if i see a good price come up that i want to sell my coins at i will be able to process that from my phone on the move, but i obviously need to be able to store my karm and then my BTC in mintpal and trust that they wont have issues..

I don't like to keep my coins on the exchanges cause you never know what can happen.

instead of complaining why don't you just mine a more profitable coin and then sell it to buy KarmaCoin?
that way you not only help yourself but you help everyone in the KarmaCoin community...

now that's what I call KARMA

I would like to see KARMAcoin as charity coin all over the world. For example, in my country there is non-profit foundation which helps many children and people with different disabilities and health problems, burned houses, etc. We, for example, helped to some woman, who needed lung transplantation. They organise charity campaigns called "Enģeļi pār Latviju" (Angels over Latvia) at least once a year, which are transmitted in television to raise funds for foundation plus a web site (www.ziedot.lv), where everyone can donate by phone call, bank transfer, giving other types of wealth.
So, in short, I am ready to talk to them (wonder how naive am I Smiley ), if they are interested in accepting KARMAcoin. I know, Latvia is small country, but I believe someone, who owns coins is ready to donate to non-profit foundation to help children with sometimes so bad disabilities, who are waiting for surgery, physiotherapy and so on. This could spread over the world to become a global charity motion in many countless countries...

I like your ideas... however I would recommend maybe waiting a few months... right now with the Mt Gox bankruptcy the press is really pushing out lots of negative information about Crypto currencies and there is no way to exchange KarmaCoins into fiat money easily.

I think in the best time to do something like that is when there is much positive news about alternative currencies and an easier way to turn them into Dollars/Euros etc so they can help people directly.

I would really like to see an annual vote within the Karma Coin community similar to a Nobel Peace Prize but for people who do exceptionally good deeds.. where the winner gets a pot of donated Karma Coins.. a portion of which goes to any charity they choose and a portion goes to the winner to help them continue with their good works....

Until the mining slows that is going to continue.  Hopefully it tapers at the exact time people start to expect a slight return on their money.  karma is bliss
