I've run sticks at 600MHz on stock voltage (830) with decent stability. These are set to 860 to help out a bit.

Can you please tell me where exactly I need to put the volt meter probes to check voltage?

Previously, I slipped off one of the spots on a 2Pac and now both LEDs stay one. Would like to avoid and mistake with these new ones.

It's pretty much the same places.

If you see the two bare pads below the bottom yellow thing, near the geometric center of the stick, the left one (to ground, which can be pulled from the USB jack) measures the total voltage (stock is 830mV) and the right one measures the midpoint voltage between the two chips (ideally about 415mV).

So still no AB on any hub, only direct to the pc and surface. Will try another machine once I get more time. 3 newpacs running at 300 freq, hashing about 67 GH a piece.

What kind of USB hub are you using for running these NewPac sticks?

I have 8 of them running currently and seems that at 250mhz cooling them with a 110v fan it is causing raspberry to go down?   I can't see them running on Kano.is.

I was running them at 450gb on his site..   have to see when I get home.. not sure why it is doing this.

What kind of USB hub are you using for running these NewPac sticks?

I have the demo sidehack sent which is fully loaded with the three newpacs and four 2pacs all OC'd. Then the shitting kdata has the remaining two 2pacs. on it.

Hello All, just wondering if i could get a little help here.
I have been running several 2pac's on my old laptop running Ubuntu with a 20-port sipolar hub for some time.
The 2pacs have been great.

I picked up a few NEWPACs added the new drivers and i cannot get the NEWAPCs to fire up.

I am getting the error "GekkoSceince detect (2:Cool failed to initialize (incorrect device?), resetting."

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If the same issue were happening on Windows, I would do the following:

you might need to add syntax to your command line / .bat file like so

Code:
--gekko-newpac-freq 100

If that isn't it, I would suggest to:
  • install zadig, open it/run it as administrator
  • select "List all devices"
  • select NewPac Bitcoin Miner from dropdown
  • install new drivers
  • you may need to plug/unplug each stick afterwards

Make sure you're using the latest cgminer vh/gekko build from here: http://23.108.83.14/images/cgminer-4.11.1-windows-gekko-90e7d31.7z (or as seen in this post from vh: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5053833.msg48080800#msg48080800) and everything should work!  Wink

Install zadig as per OP from here: http://zadig.akeo.ie/

Your command line/.bat file should look something like this:

Code:
cgminer.exe -o stratum+tcp://nya.kano.is:3333 -u xxxxxxx.worker1 -p x --gekko-newpac-freq 100 --gekko-2pac-freq 100 --gekko-compac-freq 100 --gekko-newpac-boost

[...]

I tried to add both the boost function and recompiled the 4.11.1 cgminer version.
I am getting the same issue and am unable to get these NEWPACs running.

As a note i am working in Ubuntu and not Windows.
Any additional help would be appreciated.

Thank you sidehack, greatly appreciate your time and effort on these miners. Hopefully, I can get them dialed in quickly to around 200-250MHz, 830-860mV.

Sipolar 10 port in place and got my order from 419mining today as well. Setting them up now!

When you recompiled it did you copy the permission rules over?

If not, navigate to the cgminer folder and run:

Code:
sudo cp 01-cgminer.rules /etc/udev/rules.d/
reboot

OK, So after 24hr-ish hours on the new Sipolar 10 port I am still getting "Missing Nonces" and "Toggling ASIC nRST reset" to the point that I was averaged just 114Gh.s with 4 NewPacs @ 200MHz and 860mV settings on CKPool. I was really hoping the bump in power would resolve this as suggested.

I even had it solely connected to a hotspot that had 5 bars while sitting on top of a Wilson Weboost to see if it was Hughesnet that was causing the "missing nonces".
I honestly have no idea what exactly nonces are but thought I should test the network and a possible cause of the being "missing".

I know I am not the only one getting these results but I am curious how others have theirs set up who are not having these issues.

It would be nice to get some kind of resolution as I still have more of these on the way and another batch to order after the holidays.

are you using  wifi?

sounds like you are.

Wifi kind of sucks for mining.

You could be getting micro drops outs  so quick the 5 bars are  0 bars  but don't show.  Try a hard wired connection.

I originally had this on a wired connection through Hughesnet, which has been working fine for all my other mining equipment currently in-house. The hotspot is my back up when the storms roll in and keeps me going just fine.

I have had three 2Pacs connected to the same rig without any issues for a week now.

Just got the same 10 port today too... working fine for me after about 3 hours of testing. If anything changes I'll let you know Smiley

are you using  wifi?

sounds like you are.

Wifi kind of sucks for mining.

You could be getting micro drops outs  so quick the 5 bars are  0 bars  but don't show.  Try a hard wired connection.

The hotspot is usually in the same setup (on top the Weboost) but I have a Nighthawk in bridge mode that brings the cellular signal onto my wired network. When needed this has been feeding my S9's, Z9's, L3+'s, a handful of 2Pacs and a small GPU Rig without issue unless its a seriously heavy electric storm. That is when everything gets shut down and called a night.

It did seem like the small GPU Rig reduced the number of missing nonces since it did not have a USB 3.0 host controller. But after trying Bravo, Kano, ViaBTC and CKPool, 2 different hubs and getting the same results I am at a loss. Either my network is the issue or perhaps I need to build an ubuntu machine and remove Windows 10 from the picture.

Currently using the Antminers to heat my house, which is saving me 400 a month in Propane and actually paying the whole house bill despite the recent dip in crypto. But come spring they will all be moved back to the shop with the rest and I hope to keep all the Gekko's in the house since.

Update: Snuck a Newpac into work on our fiber network and getting the same results on an HP Pro from 2011, It has Win 10 on it so that is the only Common element.

Is anyone running a linux machine and getting "missing nonces" and sub-par hash rates?

Will download the most recent Ubuntu distro and try it tonight.

So, are they working now? Sounds like they are, but wasn't 100% clear. Assuming you did finally get them working, GREAT JOB! And thankfully there is a good community here with members like vh and zsmith that take the time to help figure out what the problem may be and then assist with fixing it! Happy you got them working and hope you are enjoying them!  =)
