What do you guys think?
It could be.. Word is BCCI considering mini IPL. Not sure how to react as COVID-19 situation is not good right now. But i don't blame Players and they are not alone, English players too having same sentiments about the IPL. It makes sense as in most cases IPL contract are way bigger than their yearly contracts (Board contract). Yeah the virus doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon as cases continue to grow daily around 80k+ however they don't seem to be growing as much in Asia so there could be a possibility we see a mini IPL tournament played. India seem to have done well to control the spread of the virus so maybe it could be played in a region where there are no cases? I'm sure that they will make a lot of money just from TV rights alone.

Yeah, in comparison of (USA, Italy,France) India doing good job considering she has billion people and overall healthcare system is a big disaster. Good thing is community spread seems controllable due to complete lock down so numbers are not going up, having said that its bit early to say and we have to wait 5-10 days more. Plus India is not doing enough tests. Authorities might want to ramp up with the testing in next few weeks for more clarity. BCCI is already sitting on multiple back up plans if situation gets under control in some regions so yeah we can never rule out this scenario. I think BCCI & CO cooperation could make big money in that case. Imagine Lock down + No cricket in any part of the world and majority of Cricket star playing in the IPL.

The virus has started spreading in India at an alarming rate now, daily there are 100 plus cases that are being reported. The situation after the Delhi incident has gone pretty bad. Still the fatality rate are low but in no time that will also increase. Forget about IPL and other sports untill a vaccine is out. Indian government might extend the lockdown. Pretty much messed up situation for now.

I read some news about India and it did not look good to me. The country is over populated and not everyone is willing to stay at home especially those who do not have any food at home. This is really not good for the country and in this situation I do not think any of the overseas players and their board will be taking risk to send their player in India unless this corona disappears fully from every corner of the word.

There is always someone to blame in every where including the place I live. Yeah, media are worse, governments do not care (possibly they do not have the resources) but if the citizens are aware and take this pandemic seriously then rest of the things are very easy. Stay at home, keep social distance Those who have enough give some to those who are in need Spread awareness. If anyone is saying that it's not going to affect them because of this and that, then they are wrong. You do not want to take steps after you face the same which America, Italy are facing right now. I know a lot of you are from India. Just stay safe.

It would take couple of months and BCCI does not have that luxury of time to hold it later half of the year when the other series of different countries would be fixed already . So most likely IPL would have to be cancelled unless something magic happens.

Regardless of other sporting event scheduled later this year I think it is better to cancel everything untill there is a cure found for this deadly virus. Why risk anyone's life for the sake of just entertainment? Countries who have the best medical facilities are the one which are becoming crippled with this virus. The effect of this virus in third world countries would be devastating.

The testing must be ramped up to understand the real dept of the situation, a country with a billion population has tested just 128,320 people till now and that is not a great figure to understand the real situation, local community spread will be much higher and there are reported cases of virus in slums of Mumbai which is scary as the numbers will rise exponentially if that is not taken care. There is always someone to blame in every where including the place I live. Yeah, media are worse, governments do not care (possibly they do not have the resources) but if the citizens are aware and take this pandemic seriously then rest of the things are very easy. The lack of planning and foresight is a big issue, earlier the government said they are planning a one day lock down and there is nothing to worry and the next day they shut the entire country for 21 days, even if you go to grocery stores you cannot find essential goods as the shelves are empty. Considering the fact that virus in all countries are on rising mode other than China so does not seems that eradication could happen overnight .
You cannot trust the numbers coming out from China as the number of missing persons after the pandemic is on the rise, the families have no idea where they are and with the global community blaming them you cannot expect them to say the truth.

Cure may be at least 6 months (or more likely 12 months plus) away. The big question is whether the global economy can sustain a continued lockdown for almost an year. My prediction is that within 2-3 months, people will get used to it and would return to work (while maintaining social distancing norms). The same will happen with the sporting events as well. They may play their matches, without any spectators.

Well this could happen as Australia has done a great job up to this point to keep the corona virus under control however winter is coming in the next 2 months and for the best couple of years the flu has been pretty bad here. Hopefully we everyone in lock down it steams the flu as well as the virus and then we could see the T20 World Cup go ahead and like I said, the Australian summer goes right into March so there is a lot of time for this to be played.

It seems like we really might get to see the T20 world cup this year, without crowd! It seems like many players want this to happen.
Well at-least there will be some cricket but I think no one can say it for sure if it will happen in this year or not. We can not speculate in which direction the pandemic is going. Month ago they said in April everything will go back to normal etc etc but it seem we are in higher high in several countries and every day it's going worse than the previous day. Let's just hope that we improve soon and go back to normal. These days are really making everyone mentally stressed. The lack of planning and foresight is a big issue, earlier the government said they are planning a one day lock down and there is nothing to worry and the next day they shut the entire country for 21 days, even if you go to grocery stores you cannot find essential goods as the shelves are empty.
And it's still the same. No improvement yet.

He is having an IPL contract, which is worth $2.2 million. In case the IPL 2020 gets shifted to Q3/Q4 2020, and if the T20 world cup clashes with the tournament, then it would be interesting to see which one would be chosen by Cummins. My guess is that he'll opt for the World Cup. But I would say that it will be a historic blunder by him. The amount of money we are talking here, is huge. And Cummins may not get another opportunity like this in his career.

Furthermore if he opts to play in the IPL and not the World Cup then he’ll never be able forgive himself if Australia looses it, and he’ll also loose the respect of the Australian fans forever therefore I don’t expect him to choose playing in IPL over World Cup.

I don't think T20 world cup would be possible as even if one country hosts it or not, we have other countries like England, India that may backout. It's only if everything dies down by June that the match could be played without any audience but still precautions would be taken. It's likely not to happen. They postponed so many events till 2021 so this also may get postponed and it's better it does if the cases don't end.

In case if you guys missed this news. BCCI is planning to conduct this season IPL in the month of July without any spectators.
That's a stupid decision from BCCI. Within July, the pandemic will barely overcome. Players will be at risk of course as well as the associated people. That's not quite a few people only. BCCI must not have that rights to do so.

BCCI is desperate in conducting IPL thats what I understood after reading this article. I am sure they are being pressurized by Star TV as the loss on their part is pretty significant.
