A new theory is emerging... the pilot hijacked the plane to the Pakistani territorial waters.

follow up :

farcical hunt for Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 continues. US investigators believe the plane may have continued for four further hours after its last sighting — a claim that Malaysian authorities have strongly denied. Malaysian authorities say they have spoken to both Boeing and Rolls-Royce, and they both confirmed that the plane’s last ACARS transmission was at 1:07am, and at that time the plane was completely healthy. The radar blips at 2:15am (near the Strait of Malacca) and again at 2:30am, after being confirmed and then denied, are being investigated yet again. China released satellite images of the purported wreck of MH370, but Malaysia’s transport minister said they were released by mistake and ”did not show any debris from MH370.”

The reasonable question to ask here would be WTF is going on ?? and most importantly, How on earth, with all our technology, do we lose a giant plane?
Obviously all this technology is not enough.

That's correct, and maybe we just have too much confidence on our current technology.

It seems that if the pilot did purposely shut down all communication channels, then our technology could do almost nothing to keep tracking the plane.

Humans can still beat technology, and it sounds reasonable.

In response to the question how far could a 777 fly in 4 hours, well...

At 30,000 ft you're looking at in excess of 2000 miles, but that would light up every radar screen for 200 miles and it seems they didn't want to do that, so...

Presumably they dropped under 5,000ft possibly under 3,000 ft to stay off the screens. At that height a 777 could fly around 1,500 miles IF they dropped the airspeed to say 300 knts if you want to go faster the fuel would run out real fast, so.

The equation is, if the engines ran for 4 hours after the 'plane went off the screens then it would have enough fuel to travel 1,200 to 1,500 miles, no more than that at less than 5,000 ft, my guess is it got no further than 1,200 miles in those 4 hours, maybe a lot less if it landed at one of the abandoned WWII airfields in that area.

Wouldn't be a problem unloading Gold, rumour has it that there was 17 Tons of Gold being transported to China, that's enough to turn a pilots head, and with a value of >700 MILLION $'s there's enough to share with your buddies waiting at some abandoned airstrip.

No problem offloading to a boat either or having to worrying about or accommodate the passengers, there's no cell phone coverage round there, you might fly over some cells and that could be why some phones rang, but you could spend a month walking through the jungles of Sumatra to even have a chance of finding your way out.

I'm posting this from the UK where it's leaking out that {according to RR engine transponders} the engines were throttled back as they would be during a normal landing, they can't say exactly where, but from the satellites that picked up the pings they can narrow it down sufficiently to eliminate an area of more than 500 miles from where the 'plane went missing. The 5 satellites that picked up the pings don't cover that area, the maximum extent of their coverage is between Sumatra to the Maldives {east to west}, Smith Island to the north, there's nothing to the south.

Probably because there's nothing to report on. I'm sure they'll be all over it if/when it's found.

#1 Plane has been pre-planned to be taken and is now being loaded with some type of weapon or explosive in which the plane will be used to carry out an attack on something/someone. Malaysian government is aware of who took it and is attempting to confuse & complicate the search.

#2 Someone has stolen a plane full of people for human trafficking  Cheesy
*tinfoil hat off*

Let's just go with the plane crashed somewhere and the Malaysians don't know how to manage airplanes.

Yeah, except for the other 99.9% of aeroplanes they manage fine.

I'd personally go with my tinfoil hat theory #1, but I am finding myself more and more falling into the tinfoil hat group.... and, I'm scared.  Undecided

I heard they called one of the passengers and his phone was responding. This means the plane didn't fall into the ocean. IMO somebody hijacked it.
I don't want to be sarcastic on this Thread because I understand how serious matter it is for many  out there , but with all that technology developing these days , waterproof smartphones and all that we must not decline the possibility of that, although I wish/hope/pray what you are saying is true ..!

How many theory crafting around this Sad is the 777 a fly by wire plane, or still have hydraulic commands? The only logical theory that comes to my mind, is that the plane had a total electrical failure, the pilote managed to land the plane on the surface of the ocean (hence no debris) and the plan drow after an hour or two (planes are built to float for a while before drowning to the bottom of the sea) hence no debris. Phones ringing might be related to that periode of time and the people who've managed to get out of the plane.

The other theory would be the plane was shot down by accident, as there are many armies training in that area, and it's a geopolitical tense area, but then again it is surprising no one found anything and this less likely. Anyway I'm pretty confidant, that Armies of at least a few countries knows what happened and just want and don't want to show their capabilities and material in the area

How is the 777's track record?
777 is really reliable. As of 2013 only 3 hull loss. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_777#Incidents_and_accidents
Why does it take so long for the Airline to announce the plane is gone?
Last contact is at 2:40am and the official announcement is at about 6am. This is because the aircraft is scheduled to land at 6.30am and have enough fuel to fly maybe until 8am. The aircraft might still be flying (then). That and it has to go through "several countries" and maybe they had some protocol for this.
Who was onboard?
Official Passanger Manifest
Where can i get the official update from Malaysia Airlines?
Official update form MAS
Is there a local stream of the news?
http://english.astroawani.com/videos/live They are streaming the latest statement from the Directors of MAS and Malaysia's Ministries in English.
Interesting events
2 Passangers flying with stolen passports.
This guy missed his flight. Jessica missed her flight too
CNN's Quest flew with the First Officer last month from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur. Video
Events in local time (UTC+8)
5:51pm - Family and friends(?) are invited to an unknown location and were told to bring their passports with them at 6pm.
6:00pm - Plane still not found. Singapore joins the search.
7:20pm - Press conference by the Prime Minister, Airline Managing Director, DCA representative, and other officials.
1:00am - Air search to resume in daylight. The sea team is still out there looking looking.

Puzzling story indeed and quite a lot of contradicting or plain bizarre informations. It's true that the Air France flight 447 wreck was found only after several years, but they knew what happened and at least some aircraft parts and oil traces could be located several days after the crash.

yep that main difference is they found wreckage on airfrance few days later (they found bodies years later), but in this case there is absolutely nothing.

I dont understand how in this day and age a Boeing 777 can drop out of the sky and leave no clues as to where it is.

I see a bunch of speculation from the news agencies regarding the Iranian passengers who used stolen passports to board the plane bla bla bla.

I wonder if its possible that the plane was hijacked, and then was flown low enough as to not appear on radar and landed in some hatred filled country. Like North Korea for example.

Is this possible?

Anyone here have any ideas on what might have happened here. I fly a lot and its beyond me that this can happen.

There's no mystery. It's only the media that makes it out to become a mystery. Anything could've happened. What's for sure is that it crashed at sea, and most likely everyone on board is dead. When a plane vanish, it usually crashed. Nothing mysterious about it. As for loss of radio contact, there could be countless reasons for it. The electronics might've died for whatever reason. No mystery here.

I jumbojet, one as large as a 777 should leave considerable wreckage if it crashed. I think something is fishy here.

Do you have any idea exactly how wast most oceans are, and how difficult it is to find anything at all unless you know exactly where it is?
