Usual Usman will be enough because odds on the bookies is representing of the overall people's opinion, Usman is favorited in this match so most people think Usman will able to beat Edwards. Usman only lost against Edwards after defending his belt for 5 times, so the judges will think about it and put more respect to Usman. Edwards still need to dominate the fight or KO'ed Usman, if it's 50/50 Usman will win via split decision.
But in a close or even fight, judges usually dont give belt to a challenger. In Russian we say "jump out of the pants" when saying that someone must do something special while trying to achieve. Usman will have to either finish Edwards, or be so much better than Edwards, that no one would doubt that he is real champ. In their previous fight, people say that Usman was winning every round, but people might think that because he has 5 defences already. Like they get used to that he is winning all the time. In their previous fight it want like he was dominating. Edwards still looked fresh, no visual damage on his body. If not that high kick, Usman would win by UD, because Edwards failed to show something extra. In their next fight, if we see the same scenario, Edwads would win by UD if Usman did not jump out of the pants.

Of course, the challenger will have to come up with something special to convince the judges that he deserves the win. Usman will have to do that. Otherwise, the fight is most probably not going to have resulted in favor of him. Everyone knows that he is a great fighter, and no one disagrees with that.

But it's not about that. He will have to prove to the judges that he is the better fighter and deserves the win. Which is not going to happen if it does not "jump out of the pants". The best option is going to be taking matters into his own hands. Just KO or submit Leon Edwards.

Regards

Duke

If Edwards goes into full defence, and be sort of a turtle in a shell, will judges give victory to Usman, if their previous fight scenario repeats? If Usman will work as number one, and Edwards acts more as a counter striker, will it be enough for Usman to win this fight as UD or split decision? I mean if this werent a fight for a belt, then no doubt judges would give Usman a win. But as Usman is a challenger, does he needs to show 200% to get his belt back? Or "usual Usman" will be enough ?
This is difficult to answer as we don't know how judges will score everything but based on just watching fights, mostly the challenger will need to be aggressive and showcase his skills. But I understand where this is coming from, Edwards was supposed to lose on their last match if not for the KO kick in a minute remaining. Perhaps, that will also affect their decision-making as long as Usman is in front of the scorecards. It would be better though if he could put a big gap using his wrestling skills.

I already locked my bet for 5 fights in a parlay.
Vettori, Marvin - Dolidze, Roman
Maia, Jennifer - Oneill, Casey
Nelson, Gunnar - Barberena, Bryan
Gaethje, Justin - Fiziev, Rafael
Edwards, Leon - Usman, Kamaru
Total: @12.38
The fight is too early in our timeline, I guess I am back to just watching the full replays.

Watching their last fight more closely again, Edwards was no push over.  He was hitting Usman with good strikes in all rounds.  Try watching it again without the sound on.  Sometimes it's easy to get swayed with what Rogan and Cormier is saying.  Edwards wasn't broken by Usman in the fight.  He was behind in the judges score cards but I wouldn't say it was total domination by Usman.

Anyway, made a couple of changes in my lottery ticket.

Usman - Fiziev
Add:  Shore - Murphy - Mokaev
Add:  Vettori - Hadley - CL Duncan
Add:  Klein - C Duncan - Nelson
Add:  Miller - Carolina - Patterson
Add:  Maia

Nelson up, Carolina down and CL Duncan up, C Duncan down.  Haven't locked anything yet til after weigh ins.  Could make more changes...  I think Usman could go down a notch or two.

Vettori is not as good as people are saying why do you think he will win? He can only wrestle he never finishes fights and gets tired and starts laying on people. When he cannot get the take down he is not threatening and I think he gets beat this week. Roman Dolidze has good TD defense and I think he can get the knock out when Vettori gets tired and gets sloppy the odds are 3.25 for Roman and it is worth the risk imo.

This might help you to make a right bet. Gaethje is a base wrestler that did not rely or use his skills lately. What we usually hear about Gaethje - ooohh he has vicious low kicks, watch for them. What I know about Fiziev - his current residence is Thailand and earn for a living by fighting and training with thai boxers. Yes, the guys who rely much on elbows and low kicks. Fizies is 10000% ready against Gaethje low kicks. I would say that Gaethje will be partly disarmed in this fight. Plus Fizies is fast. Fiziev previous fight against RDA, a black belt in BJJ, showed that Fiziev is able to defence against master of subs for 5 rounds, have enough stamina for 5 rounds.

I have gone with Rafael Fiziev just because I think he can pulverize Gaethje and he looks really tough enough to handle those kicks but if Justin Gaethje resolves with his base wrestling maybe he would get back to that but Rafael Fiziev might have a good takedown defense I really think there are many fighters now that have a good takedown defense now just because some fear wrestling, but for me, Rafael Fiziev looks buff but there is still a chance for Justin Gaethje winning this, but again I think Fiziev could win this,

~
I'll give Leon credit for the win, obviously. However, Alex Pereira was a little different, he was always in that fight, and always looked dangerous. Leon, didn't even look competitive at certain stages of that fight. So, while there definitely was a element of luck to land that kick, at least to connect in the way it did. He had the technique, and patience to actually throw it. So, he made his own luck.

I'm quite liking the odds though, Usman at 1.40 is extremely good considering how dominant of a performance it was up until that kick. Whether or not he comes out guns blazing, I think he takes the win whatever way he wants. He's going to be extra motivated to get his belt back, and save himself from the embarrassment of the last fight. I think he's a good one to beef up anyone's accumulator, and should win.

I feel that Kamaru Usman will surely dominate again in this fight, there might be no higher chance for Leon Edwards to escape now, that embarrassment that Kamaru Usman feels will surely linger in him and right now I think all he feels is anger towards the man that steals from him while seeing Edwards still doesn't have any clue at all, well I am still waiting for the Press Conference to starts then I may conclude what kind of mentality Leon Edwards has gone inside the Octagon and about this fight,

I hope Leon Edwards wins again he is a true champion! Usman is good but I think he is a boring champion and I cannot wait until there is a champion which will have entertaining fights. Israel Adesanya and Usman have dominated for too long and they are very boring to watch. Leon Edwards brings excitement in every fight because he is a kickboxer that looks to knock out his opponents instead of trying to win by decision like Usman and Israel Adesanya.

I got Fiziev as he has more tools in striking than Justin Gaethje, has good enough wrestling defense and has improved cardio as seen in his match vs Dos Anjos.  But I don't think Fiziev will pulverize Gaethje.  It's going to be a good fight with Fiziev edging it out.

One thing with Gaethje tho is the shots he's taken throughout the years could be accumulated and is ready for a KO.

As for Usman, he'll improve his chances of winning and make his current line look like value if he goes out there and have a wrestling heavy game plan.  IMHO.  I think he will...  He just wants his belt back.

Justin Gaethje's wrestling is over hyped in my opinion. He has never shown that he wants to wrestle I cannot remember a time where he tried to take down his opponent. Instead he likes to have a stand up heavy game plan and likes to knock people out. He could have easily won some of his losses if he knew how to wrestle I know he has a long history at high school level and I think he was a state champion but he has not shown that in the UFC and I think he will try his same game plan of standing and trying to knock out Rafael.

I do remember that. Thanks for bringing that up again.  Wink His coach is the real fighter here, never gave up on Leon and just kept on pushing him to not let Usman bully him. The fight was obviously sinking down for him, I cannot even imagine the what if it's a different coach on his corner.
Now, he has something to defend, I bet that will boost his confidence, unlike that last fight. Edwards was always silent that is why he ain't on the trend but as a champion, he can now express his emotions.
I hope Leon Edwards wins again he is a true champion! Usman is good but I think he is a boring champion and I cannot wait until there is a champion which will have entertaining fights. We love knockouts, I guess that is why you got bored with all the wrestling and grappling.  Cheesy Well, we will see if Edwards could repeat that but I am sure Usman's camp has a game plan already written and one I can think of is to keep the fight on the mat.

There is a nice video that has gone viral https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_wrz_fsF1c. I think that has not been posted here yet. Leon Edwards coach is cheering him between rounds. I know that this is a task of every coach, but that last part of this video is killing me. The look on Leon face, that "I am tired", "I dont know what to do". And compare it how calm Usman and his coach were. A fighter must  wish to be a champ, not like your coach is talking you to continue...
Israel Adesanya and Usman have dominated for too long and they are very boring to watch. Leon Edwards brings excitement in every fight because he is a kickboxer that looks to knock out his opponents instead of trying to win by decision like Usman and Israel Adesanya.
We love knockouts, I guess that is why you got bored with all the wrestling and grappling.  Cheesy Well, we will see if Edwards could repeat that but I am sure Usman's camp has a game plan already written and one I can think of is to keep the fight on the mat.

Definitely. Either who will drop KO on the floor we'll like it. But I have some doubts that Edwards can do it again with Usman. This is the 3rd time I think Usman may have now prepared the kind of adjustments he will do probably just take down Edwards by force and pound him to the ground with all his might.

If Edwards still can get up over and over as he did in the last fight, the result may still be the same. Usman will be frustrated and gas out which is what the opportunity that Edwards looks for.

Right now Justin Gaethje spreading retirement was just rumors, here is the Article So Gaethje is not really retiring and really wants to to be champion first, so Justin Gaethje is full force mind and body into this fight and he really wants to win this, so yes this is going to be one struggling fight for Rafael Fiziev, but yeah I surely can see Fiziev could win here even if Gaethje decide to turn into wrestling once again, I think Fiziev is ready and have answers for Justin Gaethje,

Many are saying that Leon Edwards has done it out of luck and they could be correct, even in their 2nd match I have bet for Kamaru Usman because there are a lot pertaining details that Usman will win if it wasn't for that kick blowing a large portion of my bet back then but this time both men will surely adjust from their previous match, I think Kamaru Usman will still be dominating the fight, not if Leon Edwards could pull another unknown move that could caught Usman off guard, but I guess Kamaru Usman will be 100% will be in his old mans house,

really this is a video that people watch and think: this coach did much more than train, he practically became a psychologist and gave advice that a psychologist would give, he motivated his athlete to be more confident in the fight and think like a winner, it was visible that Leon Edwards was already tired and without any motivation to continue fighting, if the coach had not insisted that he had to continue thinking like a winner then Leon Edwards would have lost in that fight, which makes everything even more exciting in this video and that while on one side we have Leon Edwards' coach motivating him to keep fighting with the desire to win this fight

on the other hand, we have the Usman x Edwards coach who didn't talk much, it was as if the Usman x Edwards side were very convinced that they would win this fight and that they didn't need to keep talking about motivation in the fight, that was a serious mistake from the coach and the entire Usman x Edwards team, they underestimated the opponent a lot and did not do their job well in the psychological part of their athlete, anyway Leon Edwards is now the champion

If Edwards still can get up over and over as he did in the last fight, the result may still be the same. Usman will be frustrated and gas out which is what the opportunity that Edwards looks for.
Edward will be confident entering this fight knowing he was the one who Knocked out Usman in their last encounter and it has not been so long ago. Edward believes that since their last fight has not been that long, that there will be nothing new to Usman's fighting style, he may be right and at the same time wrong too. Usman will not want to make the same mistakes that he made during their first fight where he allowed Edward to attack him with a kick to his head and neck, he has had a taste of what is possible if Edward is given the chance to, so he will be better prepared for this fight.

For Leon Edwards, it will be his biggest mistake to expect this fight to be the same as before. He has hinted about the advantage the home crowd will give him, but that may not just be enough. It is a chance for Usman to get his revenge on Edward, he will be prepared to take it.

Personally I want Usman to win, he is not used to defeats after not loosing for a very long time, if he looses again to the same person that ended his winning streak, it may be difficult for him to bounce back and return to the Nightmare that we know.

What I find very weird is that bookmakers made Usman a heavy favorite against Leon Edwards who is champion that beat him last time.
Before looking at odds I would probably bet on Usman, but there is no way I am going to do this with this low odds.
Both of this guys are really good and fight can go either way but I see big value betting on Edwards, but I think we might see longer fight this time.

Yeah many people consider Gaethje is a wrestler, but if you look at his few matches and the result, he's not a wrestler, but more like a kickboxer. However I still think Gaethje is better than Fisiev since he's more well rounded, Gaethje can give a surprise when the fight happen, he can force Fisiev to play on ground fight. If the fight goes do distance, Fisiev has a slight edge, but if it's a ground fight I believe Gaethje will win this match.

seem just staring, no meltdown. usman is confident to win.
usman is the fav as he has been defending that title many times. he is more aggressive and skillful than Leon even when he is currently the champ. like the rest of us who lost the 2nd fight, we may still be banking on usman.

When I first saw this video I was surprised how crappy Edwards looked. In post fight conference and in later interview he was so proud that he has won, he has challenged others, said how good he was. But when I first saw that video I could not believe that the coach nearly begged Leon to continue. That is not the spirit of a champion. Leon must be more confident, otherwise it really looks that he has got that belt for accident.

Could happen if he wins vs Fiziev.  But the thing with Fiziev is he has good leg kicks, body kicks, his hands are good and could fight from both the outside and the inside.  Cardio has already improved too.  The only way Gaethje wins this if he draws Fiziev into a mindless brawl and create chaos.  But then again, Gaethje's chin could be shot after years of accumulated damage taken.  I'm so excited for this match!

But it's not about that. He will have to prove to the judges that he is the better fighter and deserves the win. Which is not going to happen if it does not "jump out of the pants". The best option is going to be taking matters into his own hands. Just KO or submit Leon Edwards.
Kamaru Usman is not in the best physical shape as his knees are killing him and even Usman confirmed the rumors he is walking down the steps backwards, but he claimed that it is his fashion and protecting his knee  Grin. Leon Edwards never lost a fight in UK in his career and his confidence is high. Not placing a bet on moneyline but rounds bet would be good.

Marvin Vettori faced high level fighters and his fight against Israel Adesanya was really close and the first person who gave Adesanya a hard battle, he only lost against championship level fighters and Roman Dolidze is yet to face anyone of that caliber and hence Vettori is the heavy favorite.

I like it, obviously I'll be backing Shore for obvious reasons, but he definitely has his weak points, and I'm personally not liking the odds. After his last performance, I thought the odds would've reflected his weaknesses a little more. I'll get my predictions out tomorrow before the event. I know it's a early event though, since it's in London this time around, which hopefully means a good crowd.
