Now UFC put Tony Ferguson in front of Paddy Pimblett. Tony Ferguson should have quit long ago instead of suffering so many defeats and he would have been well remembered and he is still a hero to me. He couldn't fight Khabib for the belt, his fight was canceled many times and finally he signed a contract against Justin Gaetcje, it was his fate to accept that fight and he still doesn't choose the fight, he accepts all of them unfortunately. Everyone still wonders what would have happened if he fought Khabib. Paddy Pimblett wouldn't last long against prime Tony, but Tony isn't the old Tony anymore, so I can think of something for Pimblett to win. There are two belt protection matches on the UFC 296 card. Actually, it is necessary to interpret them. The match between Leon Edwards and Covington was made clear when Covington made remarks from the sidelines during the Edwards Usman trilogy. It is not an easy opponent for Edwards, but in my opinion, Covington is a lower level fighter than Usman, so I support Edward, but I don't know how he will finish. I'm just deciding for now.

Conor McGregor seems to be making some public appearances these days. He looks a lot smaller now to me then just a few months ago when he was filming for his movie role. He’s taking some heat on social media for facing off with Peter Yan but it seemed harmless enough. Also a good story with the kid from years ago winning his first fight at the event.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=39dFOcE-O1k&t=1s

Did you see the latest Sparring video of Conor McGregor and how small his partner compared to him, for sure if he fought Michael Chandler one would need to eventually cut weight or one will need to gain weight, either way as long as the fight continues, sure this kind of thing on the UFC will be OK as it could also be a special match or an exhibition match between two fighters, for sure it could either way,

Or it could be something for his role in a movie just like what you have said but I guess it is either way,

Conor McGregor is just doing everything he wants to do with his life. And he is good when it comes to any type of publicity. He even mentioned becoming president of Ireland which Elon Musk responded, making it a trend.

I doubt he will ever make a return, especially in the UFC. He's already in his mid-30s and has been inactive for many years. I guess even Petr Yan will beat him. He's got too much money anyway so there's no more motivation left in him. If he wants to stay physically active then maybe he can join the WWE.

Conor McGregor is the UFC's best Cash Cow so for sure the UFC will do anything for him to fight again not to return but to just fight one last fight that is why the UFC has pitted him against Michael Chandler because Conor McGregor has some issue with Chandler and also I think they are OK to fight as Chandler also is not active anymore,

To be fair, I'm glad he didn't retire just yet and I really like the match-up against Paddy. I don't think we realise how hard it is to quit something you love and you've been doing all your adult life. If Tony feels he still has it in him and the people want to watch that (I do) then let him. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise everyone and will bounce back.
My money would be on Pimblett but it might not be an easy fight.

I just learnt that Strickland will be fighting DuPlessis in January. That's another interesting fight that could go either way, but I slightly favour Sean.

^  DDP before seeing him vs Robert Whittaker, I'd say Strickland would win in a close fight.  But after seeing how he ran over Whittaker, yup he'll def run over Strickland too.  Lol.  Even Adesanya imho.  Too bad DDP didn't accept the fight on short notice.  He would've won it and be champ rn instead of Strickland.

Here's Embedded and some vids to watch if you have time to spare.  Wink

To start a week with a nice mood, I have found two videos for you.

1) https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0mv0gWrZad/?igshid=ZDE1MWVjZGVmZQ How do you watch UFC ? Cheesy I am a European, but I have try to watch it silently at nights on the kitchen on ipad with beer, pizza and chips Cheesy

2) https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0aDOUyJJCZ/?igshid=ZDE1MWVjZGVmZQ%3D%3D - calf punches. Never seen anyone would land that Cheesy

European fell asleep as the fight started well it is because the fight was late I often fall asleep and when I don't like the fight or even If I don't have any bet on that particular event I surely fall asleep but sometimes there is some snack and beer for sure,

But anyway it was the calf kick that already damaged the calf, well, the punches just managed to remind him that his calf was injured and it hurt like hell, but that calf punch was surely legal,

He needs to win this fight before he can get a chance to face Chimaev inside the cage because he already established a great record which only few have accomplished in UFC history. Rakhmonov is a rising star and surely after he gives the fans an outstanding performance in this upcoming fight, he will surely be a match for another interesting opponent like Chimaev since he is gaining more market value after that.

Actually, I am curious about Khamzat Chimaev if he can surely continue to fight because his last fight against Kamaru Usman is really terrible for me he can surely do something about it and he can showcase even more, but what I see in that fight is a Khamzat Chimaev that is not performing well and for me back then he can surely dominates even Leon Edwards but seeing his fight against Kamaru Usman is pretty much not that great, For sure Shavkat Rakhmonov can have a bigger chance of smashing Khamzat Chimaev,

How do you expect Tony vs Pimblett fight to go? Would we see last time how Tony opens people with his elbows? Or the fat kid gonna choke him from the back? Which is kinda hard to do, because Tony never taps, and he is good at bjj himself. Or it is going to be a KO? What I really know, that if the fight goes full distance, judges will never give Tony a victory. We have already experienced that. UFC likes Pimblett to much and he is their milking cow.

I just learnt that Strickland will be fighting DuPlessis in January. That's another interesting fight that could go either way, but I slightly favour Sean.

I would got with DDP. People say that Strickland got his belt by accident, but Du Plessis is just a phenomenon in middleweight. His striking is something hard to describe. There are not specific fighting style in his striking. He is just like... Imagine you are at redneck disco, everyone got drunk and a fight starts. You swing and throw hands everywhere, on any angle, any speed, any power. You get yourself hit with a log, mugs got smashed on your head, but you stay like that is nothing. Then you throw a right backfist under your knee and land it left side of opponents temple, and knock him down. That is the style of Du Plessis. He is like bull that only goes forward and dont have reverse gear. Block everything with open head, strike like heavyweight and one could read where his strike would go from.

At this moment Du Plessis does look to be better compared to Sean Strickland. but I actually don't believe that Sean Strickland was actually able to win the belt by mistake. I think he has created a persona that he is not serious about anything and he is always trolling. But behind the scenes, He is actually trying his heart out. I have heard that whatever he does in front of the camera, is talking trash with his opponent or calling Nina that she leaves her tits out hanging, is just for the show. He is a very different person in real life. So I think it is definitely going to be a very close fight.

Grin

My first thought was to go with DPP, but on a second thought, I think Strickland is a bit underrated (despite holding the belt), people assume that since he's got a big mouth he must be lacking in skills. He might not be as strong as Dricus but his cardio is A LOT better and can be relentless in his attacks (as demonstrated fighting Adesanya). Du Plessis has been very effective so far but seems to be gassing out quite early and gets hit quite a lot. So if he doesn't finish Sean in the first two rounds, he probably won't make it.

I don't really mind either of them winning. But after Adesanya took a break and Pereira moved up, there aren't many others worthy of the title shot, unless Chimaev gets the chance despite being ranked #9.

Now UFC put Tony Ferguson in front of Paddy Pimblett. Tony Ferguson should have quit long ago instead of suffering so many defeats and he would have been well remembered and he is still a hero to me.

Tony is a real warrior, of course he can come back, but he is a warrior who has suffered a lot of damage, and the possibility of him returning after that much damage is very low. Yes, the audience still wants him, but I made such a comment because I care about his health, otherwise I still get excited when I see him in the ring. By the way, my money is on Paddy Pimblett. Maybe Tony will surprise everyone and make everyone lose money. Let's see, I'm looking forward to this match. I think Paddy will somehow lead to submission.

Strickland become suddenly underrated when he won Adesanya Cheesy Before that he was just a good fighter with charisma, imho. If we look on his record, Adesanya perhaps is his biggest achievement so far.  And people say that he had won not because of skill, but because Adesanya has burned and required a vacation. DDP on the other hand has beaten one of best middleweight striker (Whittaker). Got stone chin. I even think that he would survive one or two Pereira left hands Cheesy Either DDP gonna knock out Strickland (more likely) or Strickland wont have enough power to penetrate DDP stone chin (DDP by UD)Cheesy

Colvington was one of the best Welterweights of his time. Even though he never won the title because Kamaru Usman was too strong at that time. I still think Colvington is a dangerous opponent for Edwards. People hated Colvington because of the trashtalk he had and the dirty words that came out of his mouth. But actually he is a good person. I once saw a video on YouTube when a fan asked him a question and how he responded. Hopefully I can still find video footage.

To be honest I was holding my money on Paddy in that match. But I was very sad when I had to watch Tony fight and fight again even though he had already received so much damage in his previous defeat. A Legend shouldn't retire like that. I know Tony is a unique fighter that you rarely find in fighters today. You could say he has the same persona as the Diaz brothers. Everyone wants to watch his fights and like you said, I think Tony is the only fighter who only thinks about fighting without caring about his legacy.

Yup...  Hard to disagree there.  Think back about Adesanya vs Strickland, it was more like it was Adesanya not performing at the best of his abilities rather than Strickland making a leap in terms of skill.  Strickland is pretty basic.  I'm not saying he's a bad fighter, it's just compared to Adesanya, the latter has more tools than the former.  And the latter really didn't show up that night.

But yeah, it's just one of those things when somebody is the champ for a long time and sometimes the growth as a fighter has stopped.

Anyway, here are more vids to watch.

Frankly, Strickland reminds me of an accidental champ. No doubt, guy is talented than most of other fighters, but not as gifted as the elite of promotion. And to remove that tag, he needs to do several undisputed title defences. Not just one, but 2 or more imho. Right now I put Strickland on same shelve with "Sterling during period of getting belt via accidental knee" and Jamahal Hill (seriously, I was surprised when he got his belt) if we talk about current generation. Or Matt Serra, who has accidentally TKOed GSP.

Whenever there is a surprising outcome, people always speculate whether it was due to underperforming favourite or overperforming underdog, so nothing new here.
I don't know, the first time I've ever heard about Du Plessis was when he got knocked out by Soldic (a dominant champion of KSW at that time), so maybe that's why I'm a bit sceptical of his stone chin.

I think both of them are similar in a sense that none of them is exceptional (not materials for a long-reigning champions) and both are "just" decent fighters, but Strickland has better cardio, which shifts the odds in his favour.

I know which video you're talking about, he essentially admitted it was all just an act.
But this only shows how committed he is to his career. If he's willing to take all the heat for being the "bad guy", he will also take training and preparation seriously, to not let all that effort go to waste.

I think he's going to win this one.

That was one possibility for us thinking that this fight would go but I see two scenarios and it is because I really didn't expect much in this fight

1st scenario was Tony Ferguson would win just like the Fat Kid's fight against Jared Gordon where Tony Fergusen is going to do great against Paddy Pimblett, and definitely could win the fight because for me Tony Ferguson is still a great guy with great skill in striking and can also dominate the ground game,

2nd scenario is Paddy Pimblett  can get to Tony Ferguson's back and deliver a nasty rear naked choke, or a guillotine which means Paddy could certainly win this via record

Well, this is a scenario where everything is possible and because this is the UFC and we can never know what may happen in a fight I really like the 1st scenario to happen,

For me Sean Strickland is not an accidental champ, at 1st I really didn't believe the situation at 1st his defense was really incredible, and sure Israel Adesanya has gone through some humiliation after this fight is surely something Sean Strickland and to label him as an accidental champion is an understatement, well that is though but even though I don't really like Sean Strickland as a champion but because he beat Adesanya that though really change at first I was really hesitant but I eventually accepted it,

Heheheh I reckon that we should not underestimate the El Cucuy. It has been proven that this Paddy the baddy is not a very good wrestler, also not a very good striker and his only strength for this fight is he is younger and El Cucuy is nearing his 40s. Also, do not underestimate uncle Dana's purpose for these fights. These fights for him are entertainment, this is not to witness the best fight the best. I will not be very shocked if the fight went to a decision and it will be a split decision for El Cucuy.

Another fight similar is Wonderboy vs. the man from Kazakhstan. It might be another underestimation on Wonderboy, I reckon.

In any case, the fight that we should watch is the violence queen heheheeh. She will win!

As fans of the old era UFC I don't think any of us should underestimate Tony. We know what Tony was like in his prime. He is truly a true fighter who is ready to fight like a Gladiator from Ancient Rome. Only problem was that Tony was too old for this. He's also taken a lot of damage starting after his fights with Justin, then Charles, then Beneil, then the knockout by Chandler, and the submission from Green. I forgot the remaining 2 matches. Tony should be treated like the Diaz brothers because he is also a hardcore level fighter.
Shavkat is the only fighter who has a terrible record at the moment. 17 wins with 17 finishes. So it's natural that the bookie favors him in that fight.

I just cant explain then how Adesanya evaded striking of most dangerous guys in his division; Whittaker and Pereira two times. Just take Adesanyas previous fight against Pereira. He is way more mastered in striking. And next time he is out played with shell defence and ate some simple straight punches from Strickland. I just dont understand what happened. Like you give controller to your younger brother while playing online.

As to Ferguson vs Pimblett. I think we guys should prepare napkins to wipe away stingy male tears, as Tony 99.99% gonna retire from this fight. 39 yo lightweight. That is not good. Lightweights rely mostly on timing, reflex, speed. They are not like heavyweight that are about power. And Tony, he is gonna fight against non ranked opponent. If he looses, then it is over.
