If Tony Ferguson would not allow his resignation I think Dana White should arrange some farewell fight for a legend like Ferguson, as surely Tony Ferguson saved a lot of events in the UFC and it was thanks to him if he doesn't accept those short notice fights back then for the UFC, so I think UFC is really grateful for a Tony Ferguson but the Situation is something different and for sure a Tony Ferguson just needed some explaining and convincing first and if that doesn't ring something on Ferguson then I think the UFC needs to drop the bombs on him that the UFC is not needing him anymore, or offering him a large amount for good,

Dana can only arrange a farewell fight only if Tony agrees to retire. Otherwise it would be just another fight. No one can force Tony to retire other than himself though and I don't think he's ready to do that.
If he decides to carry on fighting, UFC has two options: release him from his contract and let him go to a different organisation, or just make him fight lower-ranked fighters for much less money. The first option should be much more profitable for Tony, as he could still capitalise on his fame, despite all the losses.

And the thing is the UFC cannot not give him a new contract because he's still such a draw.  If the UFC refuses him a new contract he could just go to another organization like the PFL and be a draw there anyway.

So yeah...  Even though Ferguson is on a 7 fight skid, he still has leverage on the UFC and he knows it. 

Anyway, this three week lull sucks and there isn't any PFL events going on too or Bellator.  :/

He has a profile on Sherdog and Tapology. And according to cancelled fights, his record could be even worse than 0-42. The guy is in business since 2014. The guy isnt so bad, as he has some wins in amateur career, 5 to be sure, and 43 losses lol His total is 5-85. 90 fights, we can call him experienced, purposeful So 7 losses aint so bad. But Dana wont keep Tony for such a long period.

Long story short. You have said that you are ashamed of Tony, because he has 0-7 record in last 7 fights. I say that it is nothing bad to have 0-7 when you are old and fight against best. People who keep on giving him opponents, people who still tell him “you can do it” - they are the one who must be ashamed off.

I gave football just as an example. Using your words, if I play against Ronaldo and lose 0-100 during those 90+ min, I should be ashamed that. But in general, imho, I should be happy that it is only 100-0

It's clear what you mean but I talk from a different perspective. I think about Tony Ferguson as a legendary fighter. When I was watching him, he was winning fights in a row and that was beautiful. He become a legend because he was fighting and beating his every opponent. Then, we saw that he got weak, lost speed/technique and aged as well. Then he started losing, lose after lose. When I look at his statistics now, it's 26-10 (W-L). This is not the statistics that you expect from a legend. That's why I say that it's shame for him to continue fighting. If he continues fighting, soon his statistics will be 26-11 (W-L), 26-15 (W-L), 26-20 (W-L), that's what I don't want to see, do you understand? Thanks.

Actually, I think that the bad beating that he got against Justin Gaethje, actually made him fear for his body. Now he is not as fearless as he was before. It suddenly looks like he's starting to worry about himself. Which is definitely not bad. But when you are going up against the best, you need that fearlessness in yourself. What I am trying to say is that the meeting had a lot of effect on his mental. So he probably might not have actually recovered from that totally. And at the same time, he is also getting pretty old. Age is inevitable.

Well, I really don't watch the power slap but every now and then, and if there are no available UFC events I can not help but look at the power slap but just  a hint of what just happened but just like you I really don't watch the power slap of Dana White and I really don't enjoy watching it,

If in some cases Reece Street and Tony Ferguson could fight I would surely consider Tony Ferguson to win this one, as Reece Street is fighting to lose, while Tony Ferguson has the fashion and is technical with his movement I was curious about Street's fighting style so I have watched a couple of his fights and it is not really looking smooth and throwing without remorse for himself while Ferguson is likely have the boxing skill and his kicks is still there with his Paddy Pimblett fight getting this fight in a decision so for sure Tony Ferguson still has it in him fighting the younger Pimblett,

Tony really blew my mind. If he still has a bad mentality then Tony could choose not to fight for some time. Tony is already considered a UFC Legend by MMA fans. He's not like some of the younger fighters who are still pursuing a career in the UFC so you can say this happened (losing) because the fighter didn't have a good mentality going into that fight. There are several fighters I have seen who have lost mentally, like Jose Aldo when he fought McGregor before. The trash talk that McGregor threw really made Jose Aldo mentally down, resulting in the fastest victory in the fight for the belt in UFC history.

Thanks a lot. Moving up would be a good move. I'm sure he would get the title shot against Leon straight away, that's unless the UFC did not approve the move and wanted him to stick to the lightweight only.
Looking at things from his perspective, he dedicated all his life, including childhood, to fighting and probably wants to achieve greater things than just having one fight a year. He's in his prime and this is the time to make a push to build a legacy.
I think he should be fighting Gaethje next, then move up to fight Leon then pick the best fights in either weight class.
I have my doubts if he would make the cut for the featherweight, that could be a bit too much for him, but it would be great to see him against Topuria, who, I think, has a big chance of de-troning Volk.

Well upon his training with Goggins, I really think it helped him just a little for sure that is what the purpose of his training for and he said in the interview that he was happy with David Goggin's advice and this is truly a remarkable experience for him I think there is a lot of possibilities that he really is recovering if not physically for sure mentally, but I wish he would see his state of calmness and retire now,

Well, Dana White as always would love to see McGregor fight in the UFC once again. He's the biggest cash cow ever in MMA history so he will be welcome anytime. The only question is if McGregor still wants it. He's all just talk but he might not want to go into 2 to 3 months of high-level training. And he's too rich right now, there's no more hunger in him except maybe for a Khabib rematch.

There's nothing final for UFC 300 yet. There's still plenty of time so it's also possible McGregor will be part of it. So far, the names mentioned by Dana are Sterling moving up to featherweight against Calvin Kattar, Jiri Prochazka against Aleksandar Rakic and Bo Nickal against Cody Brundage. Shame on Dana for depriving Aljamain of a rematch against O"Malley.

I understand that clearly, as well as most of other posters here. During previous years, every time Tony fights, we are worried about him more than any fighter of the card, main and co-main event. You cant imagine how many times we wished him to retire after the fight, but he keep on upsetting us. But if you look at any legendary fighter, that continued to fighter after peak age, then his record is more or less same as Tony - perfect or dominant record starts to look like 1:1 ration.

I just dont understand why you have used the word shame. We dont know what is in his head. What if he keep on fighting, if that is the only think to do to feed his family? I see nothing shameful of working. What if he just wants to fight in UFC. There are guys who does not care about their record (like the guy that I've posted above).

That is what makes difference between UFC fan and just a guy who watch sports. Some people just see number on the paper, some just watch last fights and make their final conclusion. That what makes me angry when watching event life. I've heard multiple times, when an old looking guy enters the ring or octagon, younger generation quickly start to say "oooh, look at this grandpa, he sucks, he's gonna get this ass kicked now". And this guys turns to be someone who previously had smth like 20-1 record.

If he wants to continue fighting and it's the only way to feed his family, I am not here to judge. Tony is one of my favorite fighter and I would always watch his fights.

I agree I think we would need that kind of thing, but perhaps the UFC has already provided that kind of specialist for the fighters well we haven't seen it because they are off-screen, but I think that is a good suggestion we will never know if they got mental problem after they have a fight on the UFC so there is something that will check their sanity annually,

Actually, it is not yet officially announced but the is speculation that Conor McGregor will be fighting Michael Chandler in the UFC 300, and that Conor McGregor has deleted something that hints a UFC 300 that is on their way and he is on that fight card,

Also Chandler would drag Conor to deep waters easily imho. Third reason, is Conor really able to compete on top level as others right now? I think he is not a match for anyone on top15 right now. Maybe RDA, that is too old for lightweight, can give him a close fight, other will outstrike or submit hit.

McGregor at the fight roster for UFC 300 is fine...  I mean he's still a draw so why not.  But McGregor headlining UFC 300 would be a fcked up decision by the UFC.  But dunno, it's just McGregor hasn't agreed in signing up for a match unless he's the main event.  We'll see if that changes for UFC 300, if he really is in the roster.  But if he agrees to fight but not be the main event then I guess that's the time when we're seeing McGregor's luster starting to dim imho.

We've already seen a few athletes redeem themselves after a downfall but I don't think McGregor will be one of them.  In a young man's sport like MMA, it's too late for him.

But it's not confirmed that Shavkat will be fighting Leon next, is it? If not, Islam could fight say Gaethje next and then Leon straight after. I'm sure Leon wouldn't mind waiting a bit as, unlike a fight with Rakhmonov, that would be a big money fight.
And the UFC could match up Rakhmonov with Belal, and whoever wins will get the next title shot.
Seeing Islam Vs Shavkat would be amazing, but I'm not sure if Islam would still want to move if Shavkat was the champion. Clearly, he sees Leon as an easy opponent.

I'll say yes, but there are plenty of other fights I prefer to see instead. I consider Conor effectively retired, he has a completely different energy than he had in his prime. Well, for sure the UFC 300 was announced but Dana White didn't mention any main event for the upcoming fights, so we just have to wait for it, as it was announced by the UFC that they will be giving Conor McGregor a fight against Michael Chandler and for sure this is going to be a stacked event for sure because they are hinting that UFC 300 will be special, so yeah maybe as there are some hidden fights that even Dana White couldn't announce, so let's just hope and wait for further announcement,

Yep! We all have an understanding that no one is safe from Father Time all of us will surely encounter the same faith getting weakened by old age and you can clearly see it in his fights but even though his body gave up on him his mind still keeps on fighting even though David Goggins fill his thoughts with positivity, there is no changing the way his body response,

Some match up announcements from the UFC and they're all great.  But what stands out are Brian Ortega vs Yair Rodriguez rematch.  Ortega had a weird shoulder injury during the first fight so it's good if the run it back.  

I also like Robert Whittaker vs Paulo Costa.  They were supposed to fight last April but Costa had to back out due to some illness.  I think this match up could be something like Whittaker's match up vs DDP.  The result could be different tho.  Let's see what kind of improvements Whittaker made for the match.

This next one should've been made a year ago...  Prochazka vs Rakic.  Looks like they're evenly matched imho.  Leaning towards the Rakic side tho.
