I know that some people will not watch matches and focus on other activities but people like me who are addicted to cricket, prefer to watch any cricket game and feel bored in times of no matches.
Hope you have heard about youtube  Tongue If you are really addicted to cricket you can watch many old matches and really great innings and the amount of videos that are available will keep you entertained for years. And once you finish watching those then you can register into hotstar as they have all the IPL matches and that too not even highlights, you can get the entire match.

I understand that retrolive is boring when compare with live matches, but do we have live matches resumed ?
Since there are no live matches, we have no option but to watch these matches. I know that some people will not watch matches and focus on other activities but people like me who are addicted to cricket, prefer to watch any cricket game and feel bored in times of no matches.

The last time I watched any of the sports channels was more than a month back. Here some of the local cricket clubs are talking about resuming club matches next week. A lot will depend whether the lockdown is lifted or not. As of now, the lockdown in India is supposed to end tomorrow. I just hope that it is not extended any further.
I don't think that will end tomorrow. Even it is withdrawn then there will be restrictions on sports and entertainment. I heard from news that for the future games teams will go to the host country stay quarantined for 15 days and then play in spectators free stadiums.

It is possible if the cricket playing countries are able to conduct intensive test for the virus and monitor each player before allowing the players to start preparing and then start playing the tournaments in empty stadiums. They need to get permission from their respected government to restart everything and for that we need to wait for some more time.

The biggest question is, is it profitable for them to conduct the matches in empty stadiums and if the government will allow to continue with sports.

I know that i could watch tons of matches on youtube but i want that other people also watch these matches and we have some discussions on it too here. With retrolive, everyone expressed their feelings on each match and therefore it was entertaining to watch the old matches too.

Don't think if the government priorities at this time is to resume the cricket. The main focus of the governments is to open up the lock down so that people can go back on their jobs and business with certain restrictions and SOPs. Resuming cricket is not a big priority at the moment.

The England cricket board is expecting to resume international matches by July 8 and they will be hosting West Indies but it is not clear when the domestic season will be starting. All the English players are expected to resume training this month

There is another league planning to schedule, Vincy Premier League (VPL) T10 and it will start by May 22.

No idea about the rest of the cricket boards but hopefully Australia will follow the same path.

Cricket would only become priority in the big case events where the government and people get huge revenues and it is worth taking that much risk at present situation. I think they will start thinking later as anyways the rains would be in soon and for next 3 months it would not be able to conduct matches.

Most government are concerned about economic revival and curbing the virus spread. Cricket will be the last thing they will have in their mind. But, you cannot say that cricket tournaments do not generate a huge revenue.

A 2018 articles states that
According to the data provided by BCCI, the Indian Premier League (IPL) contributed Rs 11.5 billion ($182 million) to India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2015.

Yo can read the complete article here https://www.financialexpress.com/sports/ipl/ipl-economy-what-the-cash-rich-league-adds-to-indias-gdp/1025063/

This data is from the organised sector, the same amount or less will also come from the unorganised sector.

Both the England and the WI board and government are agreed on this schedule ? If this happens and the tournament is played successfully then we can see other boards take similar steps too to resume the cricket. However, it will be difficult to take this initiative and they will face a lot criticism for that too.

In my opinion some one has to start and if these boards go on with the tournament then others will follow with some hickups. There are two sides to everything there will be people who will criticize this move and then there is people like us who will support it.

Yes, the board who will take this initiative will be a brave one and i hope cricket is resumed through England cricket board.  I hope players also welcome this decision and willing to travel / play in these situation.

The announcement will come in a hours. As per the rumors, lockdown 4.0 will run from 18th May to 31st May (two weeks). The major difference this time is that the states may get responsibility of deciding which districts fall within the red zone, and which ones fall in orange/green zones. The central government is transferring the responsibility to the states. Some of the states (such as TN and Telengana) want stricter measures, while some (including Kerala and Assam) want more relaxation.

The fact is you cannot lock down the country for a very long period of time, the initial lock down was not prepared in India, they announced that in a short period which was really stupid and now the number of positive cases are reaching around one hundred thousand and now the central government wants the states to take decision on what to do when people are protesting against them and not allowing them to move to their homeland because they are not having any work for the past couple of months, how convenient.

What the BCCI will be planning about the IPL is interesting if the government relaxes everything and i am expecting them to carry on with the IPL without any audience.

The lockdown was essential though it was implemented in a poor manner as you mentioned. What else can you expect from an Indian leader who messed up GST, demonetization etc in a royal manner in the past. Nothing surprising at all to be honest.

However, if the lockdown wasn't implemented, the COVID figures in India would probably surpass USA too due to the  size of the population.

Washington media glorifies that Modi is bringing India into 1970s again. Roll Eyes If lockdown is mandatory then they should follow strict rules but what is happening out there, they just relaxing everything when the number of cases spikes up to huge level so now they care about the taxes not about the people.

Unofficial news that there will be no more entertainment events in 2020, even if the number of cases are under control.

I did not expect anything different, i knew this was going to happen as Modi is found of theatrics and i knew he would take decisions without thinking and when i hear about reports that malls are shutting down, i stocked everything for the long term and just as expected the lock down was announced like a hammer.

Lock down was necessarily after informing everyone about the situation and people who are stuck elsewhere will get the opportunity to get back home after proper testing rather than leaving them on the road and then planning to do arrangements after two months. This happens when stupid people are elected through popularity contest (elections) and they have the ultimate power to rule scientist, engineers, doctors while these politicians are hardly educated.

~snip
Washington media glorifies that Modi is bringing India into 1970s again. Roll Eyes If lockdown is mandatory then they should follow strict rules but what is happening out there, they just relaxing everything when the number of cases spikes up to huge level so now they care about the taxes not about the people.
Bringing India to 1970 does not mean glorifying the deeds of Modi, instead it is the other way around, mocking the foolish and backward policies of the government taking India backward Cheesy.

Unofficial news that there will be no more entertainment events in 2020, even if the number of cases are under control.
We already had two major entertainment, banging vessels and lighting the candle and shouting go corona  Cheesy. I was expecting more entertainment further but sadly that did not happen Tongue Cheesy.

As for cricket all the players are making live videos and streaming it online and one of the blunders i heard today was from Dale Steyn claiming that he dismissed Sachin at 190 but the umpire refused to raise the finger because he was fearful of the reaction from the crowd Cheesy. The reality is far from the encounter mentioned by Steyne as Sachin faced three balls and there was never an appeal for LBW.

There is drama going on everywhere and it looks like everyone is loosing their mind.

There is nothing glorious about someone like Modi to be honest. The problem right now is that rules are way too strict(Not the reverse) during the lockdown which is causing a lot of issues(Cannot order food online, cannot travel too far etc) which is making this COVID situation worse.

Lock down was necessarily after informing everyone about the situation and people who are stuck elsewhere will get the opportunity to get back home after proper testing rather than leaving them on the road and then planning to do arrangements after two months.
Well said. Based on what I observed, the migrants are the worst affected thanks to the poor implementation of the lockdown. He could have given them a headstart like the Bangladesh PM.

That would have been the worst idea. If the lockdown is announced after a headstart, then close to 150 million migrants would have rushed to the railway stations and bus terminals, resulting in thousands of deaths. By announcing the lockdown without a warning, the government avoided that. According to the experts, a 7 week complete lockdown (49 days) would have stopped the pandemic completely in India. However, poor implementation by 4-5 states (such as Maharashtra, Delhi, Gujarat, MP and WB), and the super-spreader event at Nizamuddin disrupted this plan.

I disagree. Your assumption about thousands dying by rushing is baseless and doesn't make any sense in my opinion. They are in a far worse state now. Some lucky ones were able to travel back thanks to special trains, but the rest are experiencing hell by walking all the way.

Also, no one is an expert when it comes to COVID-19. I find it hilarious that these so called experts think that they could contain a pandemic like Corona in a country like India(2nd highest population).

The central government implemented their plan in a poor manner as usual. Bangladesh did a much better job in comparison based on my research.

Both the England and the WI board and government are agreed on this schedule ? If this happens and the tournament is played successfully then we can see other boards take similar steps too to resume the cricket. However, it will be difficult to take this initiative and they will face a lot criticism for that too.
Yes they are moving ahead with the tournament, the curve is coming down and you cannot shut everything for a very long time, the economy is going down the drains and people are stuck at home for a very long time without any entertainment and if the cricket boards are able to resume with proper precautions and testing they can continue without a crowd gathering at the stadium.
