Didn't expect England to win this one, but Archer, Curran and Woakes proved me wrong. Their bowling lineup performed in both batting and bowling departments. The final will surely be exciting.

Australia lost the match on their own fault; I agree with that their bowlers make some mistake. But 231 is not a big target. I thought they could easily win the match, but their batsmen really disappointed me. Hopefully they will resolve their mistakes in the last ODI match. I am waiting for a competitive match. Grin Grin

^^ They did fell down like dominoes but for starter it was tough pitch to bat on, both teams were struggling with it and when pitch is slow low scoring target becomes tricky and interesting to watch on. So i wouldn't blame Aussie completely, it just modern day batsmen in ODI are so used to play on dead pitches and they struggle when pitch is alive or in that case ridiculously slow.

If this was an exception, then I would have agreed with you. But that is not the case. Batting collapse has become a norm for Australia. The only difference is that, this time the top 4 failed as well. I don't know why they are not working on this aspect. They have world class players in every department, and yet they regularly lose matches as a result of their poor middle-order batting.

They are losing just because of their middle order is not performing as they have in past even they have few very good players for this position bowling is still very good but main problem is middle order where they have nothing and its hurting them very badly in this all tour just once they have good partnership after this their is nothing coming good from others hopefully we will have some good in coming matches because lack or practice is also giving them some problems.

The pitch was difficult to bat on and it was clear from the way in which both England and Australian batsman were struggling to score runs as the ball was not coming onto the bat and everyone struggled and the final ODI pitch might not be different either, if Steve Smith returns to the team for Australian then the entire team composition changes and if he is playing i might go with Australia to win the match and the series.

Most chances Smith is not coming for third and final ODI but still only rumour but now Australia need to have some good changes in batting as most of current squad members out of touch may be just because of long break but they need to do some good effort if they want to win third ODI and this series on other side England is also in not good situation as their batting line up still bad Roy is not in good form he need to join domestic league for better performance in future.

The third and the final ODI is also to be played at Manchester. I hope they change the pitch and make it batting friendly. Even though the presence of smith give a boost and confidence to Australian team but i will still say that it is 50-50 encounter and no one is a clear favorite.

After World Cup event sample size is not big so hard to say.

Marcus Stonis batting at number 3 is not ideal but its just an experiment so it should be resolve once Smith joins the playing XI. Finch looking okay i guess, Labuschagne is fine batsman and he's performing so i am not worry about him much. David Warner form is worrisome tho..

Steve Smith has remained as the most consistent batsman for Australia. With Labuschagne also in good touch, I hope he will be able to strengthen the top order. Middle order still remains weak. Stoinis, Maxwell and Mitchell Marsh needs to perform consistently. And let's not forget the fact that these matches are a part of the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League 2020. A win against England can boost Australia's chances of reaching the top spot.

The way England is playing I think the last match will be won by them. Australia has been very inconsistent with their batting and smith can be a boost their batting line up but, you cannot rely completely on one player. Lets see what happens tomorrow.

True. Australia is depending too much on the one-man army of Smith. That did the trick last year, during the Ashes. But it is not going to work anymore. Other players, such as Warner and Finch needs to support Smith. Also, the Australian bowlers are in horrible shape. Pacers, especially Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc are being regarded as the world's best. But their performance so far has been disappointing.

Do you guys think that Smith will be a part of the squad in the final match?

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/29890088/england-v-australia-3rd-odi-steven-smith-firming-place-series-decider%3fplatform=amp

I think he will return since it is a crucial match and he probably recovered from his concussion completely. Australia needs all the firepower that they can get against the English bowlers who seem to be in prime form.

Remember Ashes 2019? The 3rd match was very crucial for Australia, since the second match ended in a draw. Steve Smith received a concussion injury during the second match, and the team management decided against including him in the squad for the 3rd test. Marnus Labuschagne was included in the squad, replacing Steve Smith. The Australians have always prioritized the safety of their players.

I think he will return since it is a crucial match and he probably recovered from his concussion completely. Australia needs all the firepower that they can get against the English bowlers who seem to be in prime form.
He should as his replacement Marcus stoinis at number 3 seems failed experiment to me, Stoinis is middle order batting all-rounder so i don't understand why they keep trying him at 1st down.

Nice to see international cricket matches being hosted in Pakistan, after the successful tours by Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. For more than a decade, the cricket fans in Pakistan were devoid of such entertainment. But still, I would like Australia or England touring this country. It can bring in the hype and revenues for the PCB, who badly needs funds now. A tour by India would be too much to expect and I can't imagine it realizing anytime within the next 10-15 years.

So who won that all important 3rd Ashes match in 2019 without steve smith ?
Today is the final ODI between these two teams and the winning team will win the series. England will want to continue the winning streak and they have not lost a series in last couple of months.

it is certainly a good news for cricket lovers in Pakistan. This will surely give them the exposure that they have been looking for quite sometime now. It would have be great if India and Pakistan played a bilateral cricket tournament again but things have are gone to worst between these two countries and I do not think anything will happen in the future unless the political brass in both the countries thinks it over.

Comparing the 2019 test match with a 2020 ODI match doesn't make a lot of sense in my opinion since they both are different formats and COVID-19 is a huge deciding factor.

With Smith, I am confident about Australia winning the series. Without Smith, it's a 60:40 ratio in England's favor in my opinion. Bowlers from both teams have been performing well and their performances are a key factor.

Isn't the Ashes a 5 test match series Huh So what makes the 3rd test so crucial if the second match is drawn. I agree that Australians prioritize their health. But if Smith has recovered from his concussion, there is no point for him to stay out of the decider  match. IMO, Smith will take part in today's match.
