- Michael Clarke thinks Aussie camp was too scared to sledge Kohli in 2018 series due to IPL contracts. All Aussie players bites back, respectfully.
Clarke is one of the dumbest fools I have ever seen in the world of Cricket though he is a great batsman. He is a very biased commentator based on what I have observed and blurts out silly shit without thinking things through.

Almost everyone knows that sledging Kohli makes him perform better(Especially Aussies). He choose this grave situation to blurt out this shit. Unbelievable. Am happy to see the Aussies giving it back to him.
Many dumb Aussies have one thing common they want to be in media and Clark is one of them he was feeling not good just because of this loced down so he start this shit because now for some time he will ine in media we can say just cheap tricks by these shits nothing else they have right now for talk.

It is just his opinion everyone has the right to use freedom of speech but in general they forget where to use it and in what context to use it. Good to see Clark getting left, right and center from his own peer group and his country.

None of the news are for me except this.

- BCCI thinking of not cutting players's paycheck.
I think in Football most of the major teams already started to cut off a huge percentage from their players. It's as much as 70% in some cases. Now it's time for cricketers too? I think cricketers do not make that much money like those footballers.

BCCI have lot of money to spend so I don't think they have to cut the paycheck of the players, even if there is a cut those players are not going to face any difficulties in their financial status even though not many of them are not making in crores, atleast they are getting paid in lakhs.

The majority of the earnings for the national players come from endorsements and advertisements, and therefore the negative impact for them may be very limited. And the domestic season was almost completed by the time the epidemic struck. So the domestic players should be fine as well. But since the IPL got cancelled, it may negatively impact some of those T20 stars. I am talking about players such as Sanju Samson, Karn Sharma and Axar Patel, who are not regulars in the national team, but have heavy IPL contracts.

As written in the quote, BCCI have no plans to cut the player's salary but then if this goes on for few more months without any game, these players would become a burden on cricket boards and they my have to take similar steps as done with few of the football players deducting their salaries.
This is not only for the bcci but all the cricket boards may have to think and come up with a collective decision.

Necessary sacrifices if you ask me. BCCI is a very rich board, but this is no way means that they can generate money out of thin air which is why they cannot afford to pay all players during this crisis for a prolonged period of time.

It is necessary and understandable which is why I don't think many will oppose that action. You should be paid only if you put in the work. The global recession is here.

Yeah, kinda PAGE-3 gossips but what the hell, in lock down every PAGE-3 gossips seems news to me.

International cricketer can afford pay cuts or many national team cricketers can afford even 100% pay cut but its tough if we look at domestic circuit so its good move from the BCCI.

Well.. you can call me whatever you want, but the BCCI is capable of "making money out of thin air". A large part of their revenues come from sponsorships and endorsements and the TV rights are sold until 2023. If the IPL gets cancelled, they may be in red by $1 billion, but unlike the other cricket boards, they have rainy day funds and can extract funds from these reserve accounts and survive without much damage for a long time.

IPL franchise supposed to pay the players even if they play or not?

In the past many international players were paid when they are paid in the auctions but never got played for the IPL team since they got their home international matches.

Your reasoning does't make a lot of sense here. Even if BCCI were capable of miraculously conjuring up money out of thin air through the methods that you mentioned, this in no way means that they should pay players who aren't even working currently.

Why would anyone pay salaries to people who don't work? Politicians etc themselves have faced pay cuts around the world. No matter how corrupt BCCI are, you cannot expect them to distribute free money under current conditions.

I do not think any of the franchise would be paying for this year if the IPL gets cancelled. Also majority of the players would not impacted by this as they enjoy a very good lifestyle and has good amount of money. It would impacted the most would be the ground staff, security guards, different vendors who sells many accessories during the matches, commercials as many new people come in this ads run during this time etc.

Hmm... perhaps I need to clarify a bit. If the players don't play, then their salaries may get reduced. What I am saying is that even if the players remain at home for 3 months, they may not witness a sharp reduction in their earnings. They will get 100% of their contract fees, and earnings from advertisements and endorsements. At the most, they may face a 10% or 20% reduction in the annual salary (in the form of forfeited match fees).

^^ I am in favor, If BCCI deducts even 50% or 100% salary for National team but they should take care of domestic players as they don't earn much and their livelihood depended on BCCI only.

Cutting 50% is really understandable as domestic players have no luxuries like National team so giving them good relief is really need of time as they are suffering very badly in this all situation. as we have some good examples from Juventus and Bayern Munchen players already announces cut in salaries for supporting other staff salaries.

Yes, Domestic players and staff members too.

Almost every Indian players from the National team are already multimillionaires so they can afford pay cuts for some time easily if situation demands. But that's not the case for Domestic players.

Would like to point out a few things:

First of all, for the domestic players the majority of their annual earnings come in the form of match fees (I heard that it amounts to somewhere between ₹150,000 and ₹250,000 per Ranji Trophy match, and it is very uniform across the teams). The good news here is that the domestic season was complete before the pandemic struck. The Indian domestic season starts on August and ends by mid March.

April-May is usually blocked for the IPL. The pandemic struck during this window and that means that the IPL stars will be facing a huge cut in their earnings (I verified with some experts and they told me that in case the tournament is called off, these players won't be getting any compensation).

Now coming to the second point, the national players receive most of their earnings in the form of endorsements. So even if BCCI deduct 100% of the contract fee, I guess they are going to be fine.

They will get 100% of their contract fees, and earnings from advertisements and endorsements. At the most, they may face a 10% or 20% reduction in the annual salary (in the form of forfeited match fees).
That is a very generous pay cut if you ask me. Politicians themselves received around 30-40% pay cuts. This makes Cricketers even more lucky under current conditions especially when the world is facing a recession.

^^ I am in favor, If BCCI deducts even 50% or 100% salary for National team but they should take care of domestic players as they don't earn much and their livelihood depended on BCCI only.
Makes sense. I don't think they are the priority though. Currently, the migrant workers, farmers etc(The poor basically) are the priority and all world governments are dealing with them through relief packages first.

That is a fair assessment and even if they deduct 100% of the salary of the nation team members that is not a big deal as the amount of salary they earn per match is really high and then the annual contract as well as sponsorship along with the IPL but they need to take care of lower wagged players as well as domestic players.
The situation is getting worse globally as well as in India and i am not expecting we will see any sporting events anytime soon.
