Real Madrid managed to secure the top position of the standings after beating Real Sociedad 2-0. Luka Jovic managed to become man of the match in this match despite coming on as a substitute in the 17th minute to replace the injured Karim Benzema. One assist and goal make Luka Jovic night very brilliant how ever he got chance playing at the early minutes after Benzema injury and he can change position left by Benzema with perfect performance, maybe if Benzema get serious injury Jovic will be starter on next champion league match against with Inter Milan.

If you mean competing for the champion it seems very difficult. The difference in points between Madrid and Barca is quite far. If madrid didn't perform so badly they probably wouldn't have caught up with their points. Even though the season is still long, I doubt with Barcelona whether they will buy new players because I know they are in financial trouble. Are you sure you meant what you said about Madrid's poor play? Madrid is now in first place with today's win over Real Sociedad, where a very nice goal was scored by Vinicius. At that time Barcelona lost 1-0 and is in 7th place, they definitely can't catch up with Real Madrid this season. Yes, it happened quite quickly and Barcelona lost the first match under Xavi's leadership. As I said earlier, the current Barcelona does not have such a margin to confidently beat teams like Betis. I don't know if at this stage as a coach you can even slightly consider to give players like them a rest time. They are real professionals and Barcelona will even miss the Champions League qualification for next year if they keep going like this. It is just not the Barcelona anymore that we all once knew and this will take years or even a decade to bring them back into shape and form a squad that is absolute world class. Right now Barcelona wouldn't even get players like Haaland because they are not competitive anymore.

For the final result from Barcelona to me nothing surprising, 0-1 defeat seemed a reasonable result because even I was among those who were not convinced by Xavi's performance. The team lost 1-0 to Real Betis in the La Liga match, finishing 7th, just 13 points behind league leaders Real Madrid. There is plenty of work ahead for Xavi at Barcelona. Since Messi left, I haven't enjoyed a single game. It cannot be argued that Barcelona is a well-structured team, as they tried Valverde, Setien, Koeman, and Xavi, but no success. As they are going to add some more attacking players in coming January transfer window this could be great for their game plan as right now many teams struggling, but they have very good time in La Liga and Champions League title race.

Benzema had to be sent off early against Real Sociedad, playing only 17 minutes Benzema was replaced by Luka Jovic and Madrid are yet to confirm whether their captain Karim Benzema will miss the Champions League match this weekend. Of course, it is very detrimental for Madrid if they have to lose their top scorer Benzema, especially since he has been able to perform quite well this season by contributing 12 goals in La Liga.
