Ter Stegan winning the man of the match is deserved but if it were left to me I'll give it to Gundugan. He was the only Barcelona midfielder that was impressive. He did lose some balls but he was the only one doing something right.
This game became tough on Barcelona because of Xavi. First of all, he shouldn't have started the game with 5 defenders, using Cancelo as a wing-back. It was unnecessary. I know he's still experimenting but he shouldn't have done that.
Secondly, why was Barcelona playing so many long balls? Why couldn't they play short and progressive passes like they always do?

I feel sorry for Real Sociedad. They don't deserve to lose this game. They should have gotten at least a draw. The problem is they didn't have a natural striker and as good as Oyazabel was, he's not a natural striker.

Yeah it is incredible what Girona is doing and I hope they could keep up this good rythme until the end of the season. Winning with 2 goals difference in an away match is always good.
In the other hand, the defeat of Atletico Madrid was unexpected even if they were playing an away game.. The table was about to look different if Barcelona got the draw against Real Sociedad but they managed to win in extra time. It was an opportunity for Girona and Real Madrid to run by 6 points difference especially with the draw of Atletico Madrid.

Girona is on fire, and they're definitely enjoying their best moments in La Liga. The team is amazing, but they might face defeats from the league giants. The season is still long, and I have my doubts about whether they can even secure a top-4 position by the end of the season. It's likely that either Madrid or Barcelona will win the trophy.

This defeat is Atletico Madrid second defeat after Valencia in its last 11 matches. I don't understand why Atletico Madrid is experiencing difficulties when facing an average club, but is strongs when facing an elite club like Real Madrid. I hope that with this defeat, Diego Simeone is able to make the club appear consistently in the future improving the team performance and appearing impressive in La Liga and the Champions League.

Girona did well to return to form with a comfortable win after a back-and-forth scoring campaign in yesterday's match but in the end they were still very consistent and managed to keep the 3 points for themselves.
Today we'll be looking at Madrid because given Atletico's shock defeat and Barcelona's struggles and even having to play until 90+2 to get a goal this week, it will be interesting to see what Madrid will show today.
Rayo aren't strong opponents but if you underestimate them it could be tricky especially as Madrid will want to do well at the Bernabeu as they need to reclaim the spot Girona took yesterday so I'm still pretty confident of 3 points for Madrid.

This was an unexpected result. I would say it was a disaster for  Atlético Madrid. Las Palmas is a relatively weak team. On the other hand, Atletico Madrid were in very good form. Atlético Madrid is consistently  performing well. And if they win this match, the top spot in the table would be occupied by Atlético Madrid. They  missed the opportunity. I don't think Atletico Madrid's performance was bad in this match. They were quite unlucky.

Games are like that, you win some, draw some and lose some but the most disappointing are the matches we expect too much from a club and they end up not giving a suberb performance.
Atletico Madrid in their own good form should have won Las Pamas but they couldn't, Las Pamas also played better, controlled the game better. I think more credits should be given to em for how they did rather than throwing shades on Atletico Madrid.

Girona may likely stay the amongst the top four clubs that'll sit there until next year, they haven't played too many bigger clubs but have done well against much smaller clubs.
