Again, as I understand it, SP-T will  service all machines they built as per the warranty terms. For them if one is broken, it must be fixed, and it does not matter who owns it ..

I agree with Guy hare .. for the time being, just have the DC communicate it, and Zvi can update the MinePeon stats page to include it on the screen (below the MAC address) in the next software release. At least, when first powered up, you know what machine #ID you own. It still does not take out of the picture the "machine swap" before the first power-up in the end-user data-center, but at least you can track everything afterwards.

The August Group Buy is scheduled to be shipped in the second part of August. That means some time after 25th of August so you will start using your miners in September.

You will also have to wait for compensation details until next week. The management couldn't have found few hours within last 4 weeks for the meeting to decide what kind of compensation they should offer.

It's already on the main page - search for string "miner-FL"

aka "hostname" ..  Grin Hard to say that just browsing GITHUB code. I realized it might be there already when Guy said that it starts with FL. When all GB units reach Canada, I'll know better.

Edit: I found this in the meantime, from one of your earlier posts.

It is a shocker if true, and goes somewhat against the claim that it is fully data center ready, in my opinion.
Bitcoin teaches us trust-less transactions. I don't want to find by trial and error who I should trust, although I always trust first, only to be discouraged sometimes afterwards.

In my opinion, it is easy to remedy. Just make sure that the initial host name (which contains eeprom number as Guy edited) can only be changed by the owner (using perl, for example) and send each owner email with perl login/unique passwd (no big deal using random passwd generator), otherwise it WILL stay FOREVER on default hostname that includes eeprom. If owner will try to change the hostname and it would not work, then it would mean that it is accidentally not his/her machine. In addition, DC owner would be asked to send info about what is customers equipment serial number BEFORE powering it up and connecting it to the net. I think that this is important from the point of ownership if you want to sell your machine. Obviously, you cannot sell what is not yours.

Yes, I'm sure toom.im went out of their way to charge you below market rates for hosting as all part their grand conspiracy to screw you: *eyeroll*

I did not mean him in particular, newb. Did you just create the new account to troll people... Roll Eyes LOL
If you use hosting for a while, then want to sell your equipment, you might want to know that what you are selling is legally yours, buddy, unless you are fond of no ESN sales on ebay.

They stated the will give us cash compensation based on the 1 th miss, so basically a discount on the payments we already made but thats not real compensation imp, no one will accept that we all waited months for these machines... Since may : We paid for hash power either give us significant discounts on Oct hardware I.e 30 to 40% on full refunds on the Aug hardware

Very professional work!

Europeans loved it, Americans probably hated it as they had Google open to convert all the numbers you gave to imperial :p

Will definitely host with you my new miners.

Given that I'm an American myself, I think I'm justified in telling those Americans to grow up and start using a reasonable system of units.

Anyway, I put conversions into Fahrenheit and other Imperial units in the info text in the bottom left corner of the video.

From a fellow American, Hell Yes. I don't care about King George's foot. Our ancestors kicked the bum out, so why are we STILL using his measurements when even his country has gone over to a more rational system.

I guess big orders have priority over "meaningless" small orders
No. Wissam didn't wait and contacted us after receiving the newsletter with the spec change.
He was offered the same options everyone else will be offered.
Some others also contacts us and we usually find a common ground.
Next week we'll contact all the rest of the customers.
We're a very small team, please be patient and let us contact you.
We do hire more support staff.

Guy

I have been waiting like everyone else, there is no special treatment for anyone no matter what you pay. I only told spondoolies what I want done before they made me a compensation offer so that they have it on file before hand. I am on September Batch 1 so I'm expecting that we September Batch 1 will start getting our units around Mid September.

Any ETA Spondoolies of our batch?

@jtoomim: I have resent the reservation email to all 3 email address that you provided. Please confirm that you got it. I'm still waiting on Spondoolies so confirm my order change from Hosting with them to shipping and hosting with you.

You can expect that we will be doing good business together because I intend to send a few units your way every 2-3 months depending on my circumstances, so keep growing your hosting site mate you will need it Wink

thats the catch...it is NOT a mistake by TSMC if they are as spondoolies said 'within spec' just at the low end of that ...I"m sure if they were truely out of spec
spondoolies would have other options....such stuff is likely written by TSMC to benifit them in slippage one direction or the other on performance anyway imho.

Isn't a small batch made up first for testing before throwing in the towel for mass production? I thought that's how products are made, no?

The SP31 cost more then the last SP30? And will be delivered after all the SP30's? It is advertised as 5.5TH, is that confirmed or is there a chance that may come out as 4.5TH also? Is there any guarantee that the SP31 will be 5.5TH?

In reasonable industries, yes. Not in Bitcoin mining.

Spondoolies is guaranteeing a hashrate of 5.5 TH/s for the October batch. Any performance below that will be compensated to preserve the $/GH/s ratio. For example, if your miner was only 4.95 TH/s (10% lower), they would give you 10% of your money back.

The SP31s have a higher hashrate than the SP30s, which is why they cost more.

My order pre-dates the group order by a week or two and I've had my 3xSP30 hosted with Spondoolies and mining for 6 days now.
One was a bit ropey initially so they replaced it and added an extra node for a day to make up for the few hours downtime.

My pre-order experience with Spondoolies has been way better than most suppliers.
They were slightly overconfident to hit such high targets with that form factor on the initial batch, but not so much.
They have delivered good solid kit, on time, and not disastrously off spec. Plus they're giving some compensation.
This makes them a top supplier in my experience.

Pre-orders are a huge risk we choose to take in an attempt to get ahead of the curve.
They always miss spec on batch 1, almost always involve massive delays, and way too frequently the manufacturer delivers obsolete kit or nothing at all.
These guys have done extremely well.

BB

When do you think you'll get all your money back from mining with those? It does stink that BTC has fallen over $100 in the last weeks.

@Spondoolies: Please ensure you test my units before shipping to Toom.im I can't have issues and situations where we have to ship items back and forth, especially since we are dealing with quite a few units the chances of issues with some of them is very possible.

Perhaps you just are not technically competent to run 12 of something as simple as the S3 Smiley (I couldn't resist)... Seriously both pieces of hardware are solid and arguing this aspect of the conversation is silly..

I have many S3's scattered around and have been hashing for a while now. Bought from stock and got them a week later. If you set them up properly they will run like tanks. The best thing a miner can do is hash, which means he is running dirt and getting gold. If you are waiting on hardware and have already spent money weeks ago then you are losing money. Plain and simple. If you aren't dumping dirt into the hopper, (hashing), you aren't making any money. Unfortunately after finally reading through all the BS in this thread I don't like the terms on Spon's new SP31. They guarantee 5.5TH/s but in a form of compensation which would be AFTER you receive the hardware. In my opinion, that's just a little odd. Slap on a no refund and you're stuck if not happy with the results.

It is really hard to catch up on this thread.

I hope the SP31 will be delivered early October (Not second half), and with the expected hashrate, or better ;  Now the chips process must be mature... The early bugs or miscalculations are behind, no?

On their website it says "second half of October".

Plenty of people, myself included, tried to warn GB participants of this (and other present concerns).  However, if you recall it was a self-moderated thread by Roadstress and he did a wonderful job in silencing anyone who raised these concerns.

That aside, you pre-ordered.  You assumed any and all risks associated with pre-orders, some of which have become reality.  I'd recommend just accepting the situation for the short term and never making the preorder mistake again.

He made Spondoolie a lot of money and he was compensated I think it was 18BTC I read. Unfortunately from reading this thread most people are pissed off that were in that group buy. I don't think someone running a group buy should of moderated/deleted posts of normal concerns and situations. Was that really done? "Silencing anyone who raised these concerns?" I'm just trying to get informed as much as I can so I can make the best decisions later on.

With a small of exception of the last SP10 batches, we always shipped pre-orders and not about to be produced miners.
We're producing and shipping in the entire shipping period.
We don't produce to a farm, self-mine and ship from the farm at a pre-determined date like Bitmaintech.

That's how Bitmaintech sells from stock. They have to mine themselves so they can sell from stock. You guys couldn't sell from stock and if you wanted to, you might throw up a farm for yourself so you could. I like both companies and support is much better with SP-TECH but in the long run once you become old and cynical like me you get tired of the pre-order game. That's all.
