It would be a shame if Marseille were not successful in this match, because they had unsatisfactory results in the last 5 matches because they had to experience 3 draws and 1 defeat, which made them continue to decline in the Ligue 1 standings.

Lower tier League (National 1 League) side FC Rouen stunned AS Monaco after eliminating them in penalties in the Coupe de France. The Match went into penalties after a 1:1 draw in full time. The Hosts fans and players were so jubilant as though they had won a trophy. The dark horses now move into the Quarter finals and face off with, Valenciennes. Kind of sad to see the once promising Monaco drop this low.

Monaco should have been able to advance easily to the quarter-finals, even if necessary with a landslide score, but what we saw was that they were quite under pressure so they could only score 1 goal. Even though the second half still had a long way to go to reverse the score, it looked like Monaco couldn't do much because FC Rouen was really aiming for a place to qualify for the next round.

The quality of these two teams should have been very different and even though they had to go through a penalty shootout, Monaco was still favored to win but the result was a 6-5 win for FC Rouen in this penalty shootout round. Maybe we can't expect much from the Ligue 1 teams in this competition unless we hope that PSG will always give the results we want.

Monaco was having an unstable performance even in the last season and they lost many points against the team we were expecting them to win nad losing all these points made this team to lose the chance to race with better teams at the top of the French League and now they are in the same situation and they lost the French Cup against an unknown and weak team while I was not expecting them to lose in the penalty kicks. However, they are not in a bad situation in the league.

Soon the opening match of this week will pit Marseille against Metz and it looks like they will win quite easily against this relegation zone team. The reason is that we know that previously Marseille was in declining form and they only managed one win in the last 5 matches. When you play a whole season in a weak league, it is very difficult to wait for “real” games in the Champions League and play them at the highest level, all this is true. But it always surprises me how Bavaria, being in almost the same conditions for years, manages to avoid this effect. Maybe it’s just the average level of the championship and not individual competitors (which PSG also sometimes have). German clubs (I mean other than Bayern) sometimes show good results in Europe, even if rarely, but I don’t remember any French club other than PSG doing well.

Lyon is not in the good situation and maybe none was expecting to see them this match and beat a team like Lille in the French Cup. Because Lyon was even losing matches against weaker teams than Lille and now they won the game against Lille with a 2-1 result. However, Lyon won another game against Marseille and it was another good performance from this team.

That really surprised me. Lille is a strong team and they are ranked fourth in the standings. Being able to beat a team like Lille means Lyon's performance has improved and that is good news. If they are able to maintain their performance then I think they will be free from the relegation zone. I think Lyon's quality makes it impossible for them to be relegated. If we continue to play like this, I think Lyon will be in the middle of the standings at the end of the season.

From everything I have observed, Lyon has indeed improved, but I cannot confirm whether Lyon will really be consistent in the next few matches.
I agree with you if Lyon can avoid the relegation zone but I'm sure it won't be in the top 10 and will only be below the top 10.
Pierre Sage has good plans for Lyon and we are waiting to see what the coach will provide to be able to keep the club in League 1.

The performance of Lyon in the last three matches shows how improved the team has become and there is no doubt they can maintain the consistency if they keep winning in every game they play because looking at their last performance they don't look like a team that is not ready to be among the top 10 in the league. The coach looks great but he's ability to improve the performance of his team in the next five games will tell if he's really the right man that will return Lyon to their original position. They still have good number of games to play before the end of the season they can still get better and win matches to ensure they become among the best ten team this season.

Marseille will win this game and the score will be over 1,5 goals. Marseille are playing well at home this season, they have good results in home games. They will win this game too.

I actually wasn't expecting really much from that game because I know so far Marseille has been really ranging between been average and trying to maintain a good stand on the table this season meanwhile Metz has just been generally average in their performance and form so both sides are just matching to each other.

Marseille getting a red card and sharing points with Metz is something I didn't expect even if I stated earlier that I wasn't really expecting much from them but a draw with a red card shows that the game was characterized with some kind of poor and carefree performance but Marseille tried as they had the red card in the early first half and yet they got a goal first that kept them ahead but later got equalized by Metz it's literally not a surprise because it feels like Mets took advantage of the absence of a player in Marseille to get a goal both team had a point but Metz is yet to be out of relegation.

Paris Saint Germaine might not be dominating the European scene like they've been doing in the French league over the past seven years but that doesn't mean that they're not formidable enough to conquer the whole of Europe. They were close to winning the UEFA Champions League title in 2019/20 season but were denied of the trophy by German club Bayern Munich and this season, I think they also stand a good chance of winning the European Cup.

That is a fact that cannot be denied, I just said this in a previous post, regarding PSG being able to become favorites in the UCL as long as they are willing to learn from the way Bayern Munchen manages the team. I think PSG is already quite famous in the world, their fan base is large enough, and it is time to focus on building a club that has competitiveness in European competitions, even though it comes from a league that is not as competitive as the EPL.

Releasing players who no longer want to stay at the club like Mbappe is one of the right options, they can focus on looking for other quality players because they have abundant finances. Luis Enrique has good experience in the UCL, he can present the trophy if management supports him optimally, and keeps him as manager for a long time, like Pep Guardiola at Man City.

For Ligue 1 itself, we have absolutely no doubts about PSG, there is no serious team that will invite them to race in the hunt for trophies. It can be seen that this season is the same, PSG is running alone at the top even though they appeared unstable at the start of the season.

PSG should focus more on the UCL title than Ligue 1 because what you say is true, so far PSG's strength in Ligue 1 cannot be denied, they have a point difference that is quite difficult for Nice to catch, especially since PSG has always consistently maintained their position in the Ligue 1 standings, today they will face LOSC Lille where maybe PSG will be able to beat their opponents again, although maybe LOSC Lille can make things difficult for PSG but it seems that PSG cannot be resisted in the race for the Ligue 1 title this season.

Not too bad to be at the position I'm currently seeing em, though I know they have to work together and hard to earn the spot we all think they should be. Despite talks of it being the farmers league,  these lads are having a Competitive season.

They should be against Nice if I'm correct,  and Nice at home is one tough nut to crack. Hard one to predict to avoid defeat then they must try to get a point because I'm sure they'll not be able to win this game.
For Brest, Ti's off course a good chance to see them level up with them current points,  they should off course beat Clemfort who's had less wins against Brest.

I don't know, I think they should be able to get better than Brest at least for example. We should be seeing a team like Monaco at the third position at worst in this season. The points are still very close to each other so they can still get there depending on keeping a decent form. We are still in the middle of the season in the end.

Yeah Monaco's next game is against Nice away. This is one of the toughest fixtures for Monaco now. Nice already beat them away once. I don't know whether Monaco can answer in the same way. Maybe not Brest but Monaco can take Lille's place this week as PSG are hosting Lille.

In terms of quality and financial terms, PSG is far above all other clubs in League 1 because PSG gets bigger investors, which makes PSG's performance bigger and they are also able to buy players from anywhere at high prices to improve their performance. from that PSG remains the number 1 club currently in the French league and will continue to be like that if other clubs cannot match in terms of strength and finances that PSG has. So that competition in league 1 is not too difficult to overcome and I think they will get the league title 1 again this season.

I actually do not think that anyone cares about the French League. Everybody knows that PSG is going to be the winner of the league unless something incredible happens. The only reason why PSG lost the league title is because of their own fault. Otherwise, there is no other team which can actually successfully beat them. I mean beat them for that title. And PSG cannot do well in the Champions League. So any fan of this League and even the fans of PSG are not satisfied with the quality of football that they watch.

Quite annoyed with Marseille's performance and after all getting a red card for one of the players whose team we are leading to win is never predictable in football. Because of the red card, all predictions and performances of the teams I bet on were messed up and the result was a 1-1 draw against Metz. Even though I was only missing one match, I was able to close the multibet with quite big winning odds, but it looks like I was out of luck.

This result is certainly quite detrimental for Marseille because they failed to secure full points at home and they only sit in 7th position and they have to bounce back in the next match if they still want to fight for a top 4 position. Moreover, today there will be a PSG vs Lille match, so Lille will not be able to increase their points tally considering that PSG will clearly win.

Well Ligue 1 might look less interesting than English Premier League and La Liga for example where there is a bunch of teams fighting between each other. I think Ligue 1 got some boost thanks to PSG in the last decade, otherwise all the other teams will rank the league less than Eredivisie or even Liga Portugal in my opinion.
When we take a look on Marseille for example, they are fluctuating very hard from top positions to mid-table with a draw against Metz at the bottom of the table. Lyon is another sad example where this team is fighting for survival in Ligue 1
