Monaco, is one of the teams that I predicted could finish in 2nd place in Ligue 1. But unfortunately, my expectations and predictions were slightly beyond my expectations.  even though in reality, Monaco and Brest are only 2 points apart. along the way, Monaco played inconsistent matches. so far, Adolf Hutter's squad has only been able to win 11 of 22 matches. 5 draws, 6 defeats. although in reality, Monaco's opportunity to finish in second place behind PSG is still wide open.

Talking about the match between Monaco vs Toulouse, the home team lost with a final score of 1-2. Oh this is definitely correct and PSG has outcompeted Manchester City over the course of the last ten years, but to my surprise I found some interesting data which I totally overlooked. I thought that PSG is the #1 investor either next to Chelsea or slightly less, but here is some breakdown:

Here you can see that Monaco is the only club in the top 20 and is at about 50% of total expenditure. There is no competition at all for PSG in Ligue 1.

It wasn't an easy victory by PSG despite the score. The attackers in the starting eleven weren't much impressive. Especially Barcola and Kolo Muani. Mbappe's not being in the starting eleven affected the productivity this time. He even scored a goal to relieve his team shortly after he entered the game in the second half. 

PSG were of course in a comfortable situation in the standings so Luis Enrique must have wanted to rest Mbappe. But after seeing the team struggling he must have wanted to secure the game by making the move. Now the gap with Nice is even 14 points so the season is technically over.

If I'm not mistaken, Mbappe was rested from the start because he was tired after playing against Real Sociedad in the Champions League a few days ago and actually this was also part of Luis Enrique's strategy so that his star player could do something in the second half. Initially there were no problems at all since the match started but until the end of the first half the score was still zero.

Before it was too late, in the second half PSG increased the intensity of their attacks and this was proven by the first goal scored by Lucas Hernandez which put PSG in the lead temporarily. On the other hand, Luis Enrique finally changed his player rotation by including other core players such as Dembele, Hakimi and Mbappe. It's quite clear that Luis Enrique is not quite happy with this narrow lead because after all, winning is definitely very important for them even though they are already far ahead of Nice. Right in the 78th minute PSG received a penalty and there Mbappe, who was the executor, managed to do his job well.

Actually, he is right to not be happy with any narrow lead especially when he has the best team in the league. And let's not kid ourselves. PSG is definitely the best team in the league. So if they cannot dominate, how does it make sense?

I think he definitely did the right thing and I also believe that it is the right decision from him to make those changes. Because PSG should not have had any problems against a team like Nantes. And I also believe they did not have any major problems.  In the end, all that matters is that they were able to get the three points that they needed and they also were able to keep a clean sheet as well.

Like I've always said in the thread, I don't think there's anything that's gonna stop Paris Saint Germaine from winning the French Ligue 1 this season and that's because of the quality of players in the team when compared to the rest of the clubs in the French league. Since the current owners of Paris Saint Germaine took over the club, they've been the highest spenders in the transfer market by a French team and one of the highest spenders in the whole of Europe so it's almost impossible to stop them from winning at least the French league title. At the end of the current season, I expect Paris Saint Germaine to win the French league which will be their 8th consecutive win of the league but their most challenging issue is winning the UEFA Champions League title.

We've seen some of the best players in football of the last two decades play for Paris Saint Germaine since the new owners took over the ownership of the club but the closest they came to winning the European Cup was in the 2019/20 season that they played in the final against eventual winners Bayern Munich. I think the best time for Paris Saint Germaine to win the UEFA Champions League title is now because at the end of the current season, their best player Kylian Mbappe will be leaving the club.

Last season Lens came close to winning the Ligue One when they gathered about eighty-four points but they lost the Ligue with just a point. It is getting tougher for any club to stop them from the 2023/2024 season since they are thirteen points above the second-placed Brest. The Champions League is still the major target and I am guessing that Kylian Mbappe will remain in PSG if they win the Champions League. It will boost his chance of winning the Ballon d'Or
 or next year.

Chelsea is clear proof that money alone can't win trophies and PSG have begun to understand this fact. This is why they have reduced their spending on players in recent times and have focused on growing younger players. It is possible that Mbappe can lead them to UCL victory because he is the current best striker in the world.
