Marseille blew a lead with a last minute goal, they are still in second place with this one point but they should've won against weak opponent Troyes. They lost five points against weak opponents in last two weeks, otherwise they could've been in very good position. Now they have no excuse against Monaco game next week.
Things are not going well for Lyon as well. They are losing at home, I guess they have no motivation left for this season. They are far away from top five, that means no European competition for them next season.

We can say that it was an unlucky match for Marseille. They should have won, but they didn't. They could not prevent Troyes' goal at the last minute. Those 2 points lost were too important for them. They are still in second place in the standings. To be realistic, of course, I didn't think they would pass Paris SG. However, with the loss of points they have experienced in the last weeks, their probability of finishing the league in second place is also decreasing. Having home advantage doesn't matters at time, I see the more focused and determined get what dey want.

Lyon played really poor football last night Against Lille. I totally agree with you. It is fortunate for us to see the game live of legends like Messi and Ronaldo. One of my favorite players is Maradona and Ronaldinho. But I did not have the good fortune to watch their game live.
Maybe Messi or Ronaldo is no longer a playmaker. Their performances are now weaker than they were at the beginning of their careers. Yet we should enjoy it. I find it strange that some teams would say they no longer have motivation for anything in the season. I mean look, it's definitely not realistic to hope teams above you drop points but for a team like Lyon, you can never give up until mathematics says you have to.

Look at Derby in English Championship who had -22 points from fines and slowly climb up until are no longer bottom of league. Look at Liverpool 12 points difference cut to 3. Everyone gave up in December.

I feel like it is about not having the courage to give it a go. I mean they can try, they can actually try their hardest, give 100% each game and still fail, still end up losing. Liverpool did manage to win many games, derby did too, but at the end of the day those were the good teams that ended up in bad positions and found themselves doing better again.

Lyon is not like that, they are a bad team that has been doing bad and now you are saying they should be good, if they could then they would have already. Actually, under no circumstances would I call Ronaldo a playmaker in the classical sense of the word. I would agree about this about Messi, but not about Ronaldo. For me, Ronaldo is a classic example of a tip forward who scores goals with his actions on the tip and decides the outcome of matches. I agree that their best years in the physical sense are already behind them, but even now their level of play is so high that they are able to benefit their clubs. The whole question is how the head coach can use their best features and integrate them into a team game. On the other hand, I don't think the coach is guilty when Messi is called to kick but can't score a penalty.

But you missed the point I guess then. Look at the response I was commenting on, which was about Lyon giving up, so I actually kind of agree with you that Lyon shouldn't be giving up, and have everything left to fight for.

But about them giving 100% I can't comment as I don't watch. It does happen to some teams. And you can see that actually not very many teams perform to their maximum capacity at full psychology. I don't watch much french football because it isn't available here but I've seen teams like PSG in Champions League or let's say even Manchester United at times. Great team, everything to play for (top 4) but still playing absolutely like they have given up.

PSG already won 7 titles in last 9 seasons that is good enough to say they dominate Ligue 1.

They lost 2 seasons in 2016-2017 and 2020-2021. Others they won all and from their position and difference with other clubs now, I believe they will win it again in this season. It will be their 8 titles in last 10 seasons if they can achieve it.

You almost guessed my thoughts - I think about it very often - how good it would be to watch Ronaldo play live. Unfortunately, I have not yet been able to implement this, and now, due to the war (I am from Russia), most likely I will not be able to.
