Watching this PSG game, and i am still keeping my fingers crossed hoping to see goals in the game that are not as a result of penalties. Not like i am insinuating that the penalties were not correctly given, they were, but it will be nice to see normal creative goals. Mbappe is in good form, looking sharp in front, Icardi should take cue from him and start playing better especially in the second half.

I wonder why PSG released Mbappe and most of the main squad in general? Only Messi is resting (although he would be happy to convert those two penalties). I think the PSG reserve team would have won this game with great enthusiasm. A 3-0 win for the main squad against clear outsiders doesn't look like a big achievement.

with a team that is not very well known, why do you have to take such a big risk That's not the point.
Big wins will also be considered very natural when meeting a team that is not very well known to many people and when PSG loses they will be blasphemed for losing to a small team

Rennes continue to surprise and impress people at the same time. Their great effort helps them stay at top positions in the standings for now. But they have a really difficult job here surely. Monaco are not an easy team when it comes to beating them away. I think that we will see goals from both teams. And it wouldn't surprise me to see a draw also.

Now we have last round before going into winter break, and it's going to be very interesting with Monaco vs Rennes is having some interest with many other big teams having easy matches. Here both teams currently on same level of form but this win can give some good crucial points to Rennes for staying at number 3 while Monaco is now also looking for some better results as they are at 8th position and this will can give them some better spot for coming back after break and spending some energy for more good points and higher rank.

But, with the unpredictable nature of French Ligue it's very difficult to have predicted about anything in advance who is going down and which team is coming on top.

How could you compete with PSG while its competitors are failing vs weak teams?
For example: OM missis points vs Metz, Brest and Angers...
Rennes won vs PSG while losing 2 points vs Troyes and Bordeaux and getting a defeat vs Angers and Reims.
Nice got a draw vs PSG and lost points against Metz and Troyes...
Of course this is football and there is ups and downs. Even the great Bayern loses points vs weaker teams but wasting 14 points in 17 games won't make you dream of the title...
You should win 100% of your games vs weak teams, you should win most of your games vs top teams then we could blame money for the rest.. but wasting randomly points then blaming money for that is simply nonsense!
Last season Lille was able to win the title with Neymar, Di Maria, Mbappe and Navas in PSG. Messi isn't doing extraordinary things here. Dunno if you understand what I meant. Blame the money when you build a winner team and lose the title because the other team is always winning.

I am always wondering whether the staff, players of the other teams are considering winning the title as being the first one of the actual table or the first one of a table that doesn't include PSG
As I always say, it is their fault to not being able to compete with PSG. PSG could win whatever game it wants but a team that wants to challenge them has to win as much game as possible..the current situation is very different and those teams are wasting points easily.

I think that all participants of the process dream of titles, but the path to the title does not lie through trying to win the championship being in Metz or Lance - this is simply unrealistic. But each of the players, coaches, and other staff can develop individually, get better and eventually move to a stronger team (even PSG). Therefore, if they are really focused on self-development and self-improvement, then we can say that even being in outsider teams, they are fighting for the champion title (for themselves in the future).

I understand your point but the answer to why none of the other teams are capable of signing Neymar is simple actually. Because PSG are a very rich club and the rest of them are in a financial condition that is far away from PSG. If some rich guy decides to buy a club in the Ligue 1 like the Newcastle example, then balances can be upset for certain. But for now, it seems to be impossible for any of those clubs to be able to afford a player like Neymar.

I dont know why also they didnt rest Mbappe in this match and just risked to get him injured in a cup match against a team from 5th tier. Also the 5th tier league team played solid football and really unlucky for those 2 penalties i think if PSG didnt score those penalties they would have struggled a lot

a 3-0 is a win no matter what, Psg created a lot of chances in the first half and in the beginning of the 2nd half, and that led to three goals that were enough for them to guarantee the win and advancing to the next round, after that we didn't see a lot of effort from psg players, just few chances here and there, I am pretty sure if they needed or wanted to score more they could have done it but they didn't have to be aggressive and played slowly.

You just don't have to give up right away and despair of having star players in the opponent's squad, because in football it's not the names that win, but specific teams that can score one goal more than the opponent on this particular day and hour. It is not for nothing that it is said that order beats class and the national championship is by no means 38 games against a club like Paris Saint Germain, but a game every round with different opponents with different class levels. Fortunately, money does not solve everything in football, otherwise it would not be so interesting to follow the tournaments and there are always rivals who use their financial and human resources that are available more effectively.

You are complaining that the other team played a solid football;
That if not for the two penalties, Paris Saint German would have found it difficult to win the match.
Then you are still asking why Mbappe was not rested along side Messi

I think there may be some clubs out there who can afford it and it's not only about PSG, but they certainly have other calculations such as salaries, bonuses and many other benefits that might be financially burdensome for the club itself. As we know, when a team no longer earns a good income, it is clear that the club concerned can no longer keep expensive players and that has happened to Barcelona and Messi. Indeed, it's all about money but if the purchase is expensive but still doesn't make a big contribution to the team, then it will be a failure in many ways too.

As a result, Ligue 1 is now the exclusive domain of PSG. Maybe there is no rich club in Ligue 1. I don't see any good star player in any club other than PSG. Ligue 1 teams should improve themselves as much as the Premier League teams. Otherwise, after players like Messi, Neymar and Mbappe Ramos leave Ligue 1, spectators will not be found in Ligue 1 matches.

It is really interesting that all of the matches of the new week are going to be played at the same time tomorrow. Maybe the reason is that Christmas is near us and they don't want to leave any match for a later date. Because after this week, we aren't going to be having any matches until the 7th day of January. And it seems like PSG have another easy match against Lorient this time. I don't expect them to make a mistake here.

PSG may dominate most of the time, but keep in mind that even bottom clubs of Ligue 1 can make a difference of the title race-a scene perhaps not as frequent in other "big" leagues. Now with Messi, Neymar and Mbappe and Ramos the only thing missing is a strong stable opponent in the league, like Bayern has with Dortmund for example. Someone who at least challenges it year in year out. The problem is Lille Marseille Lyon etc, they perform one season and the next theatre out the window , sometimes not even getting into European competitions.

Yeah, this league is not going on very interestingly now because of PSG' incredible performance so far. They are already far ahead of every team and would win the Ligue 1 title easily also. Maybe the race for the 2nd place would be delightful to follow but still it is not very attention getting in terms of winning the title. PSG will focus on the Champions League mostly from now on. Real Madrid is a very tough competitor. They should fight with all they've got to be able to get an advantageous result in the first leg.

Messi on another goal involvement. My favorite player and yes I know he won Ballon but I actually didn't think he deserved it (and he felt the same way I'm sure) but at least he's still earning his reputation on the field.

But I came here to say what a missed chance for him to meet Ronaldo on UCL pitch!! But still, nice that he meets Real and tries to knock them out with PSG. The only shame that only 1 has to pass to Quarterfinals

Messi is controversial, PSG is now a team that manages a lot of money and the truth is very influential, it is like a Real Madrid from France, however the whole team has adapted to Messi's game, Messi always imposes a type of A different game, that if the team players do not adapt, they make it seem as if he was lost playing alone in the team, and with respect to PSG and Real Madrid it is one of the games that excites me the most, more if after that he they get with the CR7 team, which for me is one of the most complete and exciting matches that only the UCL can give us.

Saying Messi is controversial is both true and false, and not really worth mentioning. He doesn't invite the controversy it just kinda follows him everywhere because he's Messi.

Did he choose to win the last Ballon? No, people voted for him. Did he choose to go to PSG? No, he was pushed out from the club he wanted to stay at.

Anyway, I guess we all agree the match will be entertaining to watch though I still hope and think Ronaldo vs Messi could happen!

@slaman29 totally agree with you Messi doesn’t like controversy he likes the game, and the very fact that he knows Lewandowski should have won it says it all about his character. Also now it looks like he’s settling at PSG, and as I said earlier he’s the one of the key man standing between Real Madrid’s victory.

Well for now Messi what he has done does not seem bad to me, he is a person who deserves the best things, he has fought for that, and his talent is something unique that he always shows us, but PSG I see him very slow, he does not understand the ideas Messi or is it that Messi does not understand the team, usually this type of players is difficult to have when you do not know how to treat them or what to put them on the court to do, sometimes it is better to tell Messi to do what he wants to do in the field, because the genius that he can do sometimes by the mandate of a coach cannot be done and that cuts off his magic, the same one that Pep Guardiola did if he let him do it.

At least they have managed to dominate Ligue 1 in the last 10 years where PSG have won 7 Ligue 1 trophies compared to other team. But don't forget that PSG can still fail to win the title as they experienced last season. As one of the rich teams they have a bigger chance of doing so every season although on the one hand it is a bit less competitive for other team.

I think it's a bit redundant to make such a judgment, but maybe that's just your opinion. Ligue 1 is one of the league in Europe today where all the team there have very fanatical supporters of their favorite team. Without star players like Messi, Neymar and Mbappe then I think they will still get a lot of viewers around the world for one reason that this generation of players will be replaced by the next generation in the years to come.

I really don't know of any plausible reason to see PSG fail at the end of the season with a super-luxury squad like it is today. In certain situations, I think PSG players are not experienced enough in the Champions League so they always fail to win titles. But this season is a bit different and it's probably because of Ramos, Messi and other players who can be a supporting factor for them to advance to the next round.

Real Madrid is a the strong one opponent for PSG this season in the Champions League. Proving which one is best will take place in February, so speculation these two team now probably won't do much good considering it's still too far from show day.

As long as at least one of the remaining clubs in the Ligue 1 aren't bought by a rich person, PSG will always continue to maintain their high dominance. There is no way for other teams to compete with PSG too much under these circumstances. I know that Lille did a perfect job in the last season but this doesn't always happen. It was no different than Leicester's becoming the champions even though they didn't have a squad full of expensive players.
