The only true fight here is for the second place.The first place is already away with 13 points difference and the Ligue 1 is extremely boring compared for example to Premier League or Serie A in Italy.This is the result of having one stellar team like PSG and all other teams having mediocre to normal players compared to PSG.

PSG are too strong and they dominated Ligue 1 in 9 seasons before the last one when they lost the trophy first time after 9 seasons. They focused and allocated their resources too much for Champions League and lost Ligue 1. In this season, they manage to do it better with more new and good players from the summer transfer. 9 point difference is so good for PSG to think more of Champions League.

It would be a shame for PSG with all the players they have including Messi this year not to win the Champions League as their focus is totally there now,Ligue 1 is just a formality for them now.

It is not a shame if PSG play well and just lack of luck to win Champions League. Many legendary players have never won Champions League include the Brazilian Ronaldo de Lima. Messi performance in this season is not good and I wish to see his best in the rest of season. I also wish Messi to win at least one more Champions League before he retires.

Well, is there a separate thread for Coupe De France? I enjoy Coupe De France matches but can't find any thread to discuss.

Yesterday I watched the match of PSG vs Vannes. PSG formed the squad without Messi, Neymar and Di Maria. However, they won 4-0. PSG was leading 1-0 in the first half. Mbappe's superb performance in the second half helped PSG win 4-0. Mbappe scored a hat trick.

PSG should have won bigger than that, because Vannes itself is a small club. In fact, sometimes we mention things like Ligue 1 (highest tier) and Ligue 2 (second/lower tier), which means there are different quality teams there. Vannes are a team that doesn't even play in the second and third tiers because Vannes are playing in National 2, that's a lot of distance, difference and quality and PSG only winning 4-0 is not something good.

I just saw the statistics of the games of the two teams in that match, PSG did appear quite dominant and even they managed to release 25 kicks with 11 of them on target, with so many chances, of course  that PSG should have scored more than 5 goals, moreover they played almost half of the main players in that match, I think with the results obtained in that match,  it was actually Vannes game that deserved our applause, because with a modest squad they were able to prevent PSG from scoring more.

That's something to pay attention to too, basically PSG's second and third tier players are still fairly good or at least, have qualities that are not much different from the main players. We can compare to other big teams like Bayern Munich and even, when they get the chance to keep scoring goals they really will and that's not the case at PSG who have more star players in the squad.

I know it's not fair enough for Manchester City or PSG when they are among the favorites every season for the Champions League title. Actually it doesn't look good for them, but they will gain more experience every season even if they fail in the final.

This season they still have a chance, so hopefully one of them can reach the final and win the title whether you are happy or not. That is my hope for these two teams.

maybe City have a bigger chance at this time compared to PSG because in the first round of the last 16, PSG had to hold a tough match because they had to play against the team that has won the most UCL titles so far.

The Nantes - Monaco game is going to be a competitive one I hope. There is no big favourite in this game I think. They are close teams in this season thanks to Nantes' great rise. They are showing a much greater performance compared to last season. They were nearly relegating from the Ligue 1 as far as I remember. Now, they are at the seventh position in the standings and right behind Monaco. Nantes seem to have a good advantage but this game is very likely to end in a draw.

they are already in a comfortable condition and with the condition of the team as it is now and the performance of their opponents who are still not very good I am also very sure that they will be at the top and win the title without a strong competitor there.
actually I want to see competition like last year how Lille beat PSG hegemony for many years but indeed for now it may be very difficult for something like that to happen

We've got even funnier potentials coming up I guess but Lens - Lille is the "pick" of the night as the only Coupe game before Friday Ligue 1 reopens at Bordeaux. Both tend to be really poor on corner counts, occasional high yellows, so it's set up to to be a drastically dull affair unless both play reserves (which they really shouldn't).

Dunno if you followed the game, I didn't have time to do it but I see Lille failing to win although leading with 2 goals, Lens was able to get a draw at the end of the game then win it by penalties. It seems to be a crazy match there.
Lille lost everything this season and the round of 16 is quite interesting with PSG - Nice, OM - Montpellier, Lens - Monaco.

PSG is very strong side here for some years, and they are improving their quality with many skilled and good players recently specially with Messi and Neymar they have most lethal attack, but sadly their achievements are just inside France, and they fail to have any even outside France recently with last year Lille have French title which was shocking result for many because PSG were very strong but still lost just by 1 point but now this year we have many surprises as many good teams have fail to give any impression in French League with defending champions badly struggling and staying into middle and Monaco and Marseille are also having not enough quality to challenge them they need some more good teams for having some better way in French League quality.

Considering how much money they have spent so far in their team, it is totally understandable for them to have a good youth system as well. Look at city for example, they have spent so much for players but they have spend a lot on their youth team and now getting some players from there as well. Foden is a great example for what City got by spending that much money, if they sold him today, he would worth over what they have spent on the youth team all by himself, and I am not even talking about other players that were raised through the system.

PSG will undoubtedly strengthen when Neymar and Messi return to the main squad, the question is whether they will have time to do this before the meeting with Real Madrid in the Champions League or not - it will be a difficult match and without its main players PSG will be hard. As for spending on new players, they will be forced to do so, so few people believe that Mbappe will remain in the team after the end of the season.

In my opinion, the Lyon v PSG match will be the most important one among all the matches this weekend. Both teams have important missing players. Lionel Messi is one of them also for PSG. His current condition is doubtful though but he might still not play due to getting covid-19. Neymar is injured right now too and he is expected to return on late January. But I reckon that PSG would still do a great job with Mbappe especially and Di Maria. But this is going to be really tough for them also. And I wouldn't be surprised if we see a draw at the end.

A draw, no I don't think Lyon will be able to make a draw. It can be a tight match but in the end, PSG will get 3 points from Lyon.
