It seems to me that the main reasons are economic. In England, the best conditions for football as a business have been created (even if there is a lot of dirty money there now), while in France (maybe something has changed there since Hollande, I don’t know) football (and other business) are literally strangled. And again, look at Italy - they once dominated, but for a long time their economy has been stagnating and they are dying out. In Spain the situation is slightly better but there only the top clubs remain at the top (but at the same time Barcelona is close to bankruptcy lol).

I'm not an expert but I believe the same economic conditions for football exist in other European countries, but why I say quality is because of the Middle East. For example I think you can invest as much money as you want and even buy all the tv rights in Saudi Arabia. No limits, no quotas, no nothing, you can buy Ronaldo if you can pay 200m a year salary, no problem.

And the profits from football clubs there, guess what, is almost tax free!

So what's stopping football from becoming great there? Even better than England. Sky TV and all the others have rights, to watch it abroad you have to either pay or pirate. Saudi football can be watched for free. Saudi economy is booming for 30 years, no recession, oil pumping, no tax even... But who wants watch football to even with Ronaldo there?

I would add Monaco to the list because isn't Monaco the team that just beat PSG with a 3-1 result in their last game.Monaco is on top form in their recent games as they come from many consecutive wins in a row and together with Monaco there is Marseille which is in similar form.Normally these two teams are the real contenders as they may have another weekend that they would recover points toward PSG because PSG tonight is facing Bayern Munchen in the Champions League and will be tired after such intense game.

For Lens they never convinced me and they are where they should be in the 4th place,I doubt they will recover and they cannot fight for the title anymore.

The defeat also lower Lens' position in the standings, while Monaco, which had win earlier against Paris Saint Germain, is currently in 3rd place, moving up one level in the standings with 1 point difference from Lens.

Yes, I can relate to your disappointment in the final score between Lyon and Lens. Losing a wager because your team lost is especially frustrating. Lens' current losing streak and slide down the standings can be directly attributed to their lackluster forwards' play. One symptom of the problem is the team's inability to score goals in its last four games. It's reasonable to have doubts about their title chances, but there's still a lot of soccer to be played. Marseille is currently PSG's main rival for the crown. And Monaco is also a big threat, but anything can happen in sports. Let's not write off Lens just yet; they might be able to turn things around and stage a comeback. But at least I hope that they can secure the position in top 4

That's a very disappointed result for lens. Lens was expecting to get full points against lyon but it was losing. Lens will be so difficult to follow marseille to be closer with PSG. I thought that this was the golden opportunity for lens to be closer with PSG. It seems like that the current target for lens to participate in UCL. Marseille is the only competitor for PSG although marseille has big gaps to the PSG. I hope that PSG will be losing against bayern. This will be also affecting the performance from PSG in the domestic league.

At that time, I was surprised that Lens was able to consistently win until it finished second and also threatened PSG's position. The year they lost to Lille was the year they followed that up with Messi and became so much better. I almost feel like if they end up losing this year, which they won't, then it would be even better for them because they may get some other new amazing players.

They are good enough and rich enough to do that, which means there is a possibility they may react to their loss with spending 200+ million on getting new players, which in return means they can win some more titles and even be better in UCL as well for the future. I know spending that much money on a team without getting a result sucks for fans, but it may have long term benefits at least.

I don't think Lens is a team that can really get tough competition with PSG even though they have beaten PSG this season. I admit PSG have not been in their best form lately. But PSG are still few points ahead of their rivals which makes me believe they are still safe to lead Ligue 1 for longer. I consider PSG to be the most potential title-winning team this season, but it seems PSG has extra focus on the Champions League against Bayern Munich.

I'm looking forward to that match and I hope both teams put out a good performance. PSG may find it difficult to win the first leg in the absence of the injured Mbappe, but the performances of Messi and Neymar can to be expected.

With the current results and performance of the Lens look like as now we are heading for the end of this season they are also heading for the down in league table because now they have four matches without any win and Marseille and Monaco is already overtaken them with most chances in coming weeks they could be down from this top rank with Lille and Nice both are trying their best for having better end of this season because these both teams are having better results and quality is also improved which will give them their required spots with Lens and Rennes are both have time for the poor results and down in their ranks in league table.

Football in Saudi Arabia is the plaything of the rich, it has no economic rationale. England has a real effective demand for football, so it is doing well, poorer countries like Italy or Spain are gradually losing their positions, but there is still the USA where a huge market (and in the future it can surpass the European one) and this is another reason why the top clubs in Europe trying to organize the Superleague. Serie A against MLS is nothing, just like La Liga and even more so Ligue 1. But united at the top level, they have a chance.

I don't think Lens will fight for the title. Lens lost points in the last four matches. More importantly than the fact that Lens was defeated, their performance suddenly dropped badly. Players are not playing well. Consistently good performances are essential if we want to continue fighting for the title. Monaco and Marseille teams are more stable and regular than Lens. If the Lens team returns to form with a win in the next match, then there is a chance to continue the fight for the title. Otherwise the Lens team will be left behind.

Maybe that could be a good strategy for PSG, but it's also worth noting that basically it won't guarantee a team to win more easily. Donnarumma and Sergio Ramos have to fend off Bayern's mighty attack.
