It depends. Some players are highly dependent on getting enough practice, they feel better if they play every game possible. Mbappe is not very prone to injuries and I think if he was allowed to play some time against Lille, it wouldn't have been a mistake either. But I get the point that no coach would want to risk losing Mbappe in a game when there is not much on the line and the team is still good enough to win the game without him.
