I know you've said your ideal time-frame is relatively tight (~30 days) but I'd expect lower autonomy and frequent prompting may be required of someone who has a day job already and significantly, isn't emotionally engaged with this 'side project' (his assumed perspective). 6 months ago he sounded quite enthusiastic on upwork.com, but with a full-time job now, this vigor may have understandably dulled considerably.

Bottom line, Daniel's lack of engagement with the greater idea of what we're doing leaves me wondering whether it'd get done in a reasonable time and what the quality would be.

Thus, maybe an hybrid of B and A could work: suspend negotiations with Daniel for 2 weeks (or however long) whilst another party is sought (though I don't know where or how this might happen, I don't have the necessary network personally). If no-one else more qualified and/or enthusiastic is found by the deadline, proceed with 'A' as proposed. This may not be realistic and so in lieu of finding anyone else, my vote is for 'A' (but even so, it's only just 'A' over 'B').

You have expressed exactly what I am feeling.  I have 3 votes and was thinking of splitting 2 for A and 1 for B.

We could add D to the candidates:

C.   Shall we cancel the whole effort and save our UNO?
D.    Suspend negotiations with Daniel for 2 weeks whilst another party is sought actively by Gekko (who is wide open for the community to help find someone). If no-one else more qualified and/or enthusiastic is found by the deadline, proceed with 'A' as proposed.

However, if option D wins out, and the result is we can't find anyone---that means we are buying a translation that Chinese eyes may never see but by chance.  So pretty much certainty of loss.  If we want to eliminate certainty of loss from any equation, we must decide from the first 3 now.

A better solution in my eyes would be to decide this now, by allowing anyone to split their vote.  If you have 1 vote and you are thinking 70% A and 30% B or whatever, tell me.  I will split your vote that way.  I am pretty sure my Excel spreadsheet won't burst into flames.

But believe me, I feel exactly the same way you do.  But I think we need to advance or retreat rather than sit still for two weeks.

Decisive action is prudent for effective progression in this project, I agree. You've summarised things well here!

Talking this through helped clarify the decision for me and I've shifted my position a little; I'm now leaning toward B. My thinking is that we're only going to do this stage of the work once and if we have a sub-par outcome we're unlikely to make a second run at it. Better to find someone who is keen and ideally, a stakeholder of UNO already before encountering this project.

Does this ideal candidate exist? I kinda doubt it, but it is at least possible, hence my hybrid suggestion. If this was a company and I was the decision maker, I'd have reservations proceeding with A but if no-one else was available and the project had to be done now, Daniel would get the job.

Put me down as B (55%) and A (45%). I hope there's someone out there who can do this and wants to, but if not, Plan A is the default, I guess! If it doesn't have to be done immediately and we can take our time to find the right candidate (sooner is better than later though), then I'm a solid B. Cheers.

I have over two tons now.  Because I believe in the China project 10 more BTC worth than I did before the China project.  This is going to be huge if we can get it right.

Translating is not a big deal.  And Like a $50 job tops.

Next easy is the SEO, but getting links into chinese websites is a bit of a trick.  But I still think most any slightly skilled SEO web dev armed with the translated KEYWORDS can get "Unobanium" to show up in the search results.  My guess is we Unotards can get our website to show up in the Chinese search engines.  Later maybe professional china based SEO services can be employed.    

From there it is hard and requires:
a) fluent Chinese
b) full faith in UNO
c) knowledge of the Chinese crypto scene
d) a reputation in the Chinese crypto scene
e) determination to get'r done
f) btc38 connections  help

But the first step is just getting our info out there in Chinese.

As usual I am a Uno bull, so you guys always know what I'm gonig to say when I comment on Uno's value & price. I'm fairly predictable.

It's heartening to read Gekko's optimism.  Getting Uno in front of China has been an interest of this community for at least a year, so it's exciting to have a lead on that project and to see all the support it has.  The last time we started acting on the China goal was just weeks before the BTer hack, after which the enthusiasm abated.  The idea has a lot more momentum this time, though.  The goal to bring new traders and hodlers into Uno is a very good one.

I look at Uno, and (even more than usual) i see it as undervalued. Although I'm accumulating the mining reward each day at these cheap prices, I would love to see price stable in that .02x level and Uno with a $1m cap. When Uno cracks that $1m level as the new normal, lots of interesting things become possible in terms of investor interest, media interest, legitimacy. People suddenly want to know about this coin they've never heard of.  When people look at Uno, they tend to like Uno. The China effort could help propel Uno up to that level.

The value of having Daniel do the first UNO translation work is that he has experience in crypto.  I'd think this is an advantage.  Subsequent translators can then draw from his work.  There's no need to rush the job.
