Falcon = The black guy in Captain America Winter Solider
Black Widow = Romanoff's codename
War Machine = Silver version of the Iron Man suit that Rhodes pilots instead of Stark.

The names certainly inspire visions of speed, efficiency, and general sweetness. Its tough to find the exact inspiration for the names, outside of Marvel names. Judging from Gaw miners motto "Mining made for everyone" perhaps its the feeling in all of our stomachs when we fire up these little Greek gods for the first time, and connect to ones favorite pool.

Perhaps you choose those names because they are easy to remember since they are in popular culture, and this also gives a "homely" impression of GAW since they, like the Marvel heroes, are based in the USA. And also of course because of the "super-power" connation of the heroes your miners are named in honour of

Regarding the GAW in the GAWMiners company name..

The GAW acronym stands for "Great Auk Wireless" a previous telecommunications company that Josh Garza ran in the northeast back in 2005.

The "Great Auk" is a flightless bird from the Atlantic ocean region that became extinct in the mid-19th century.
