Just came across this fun piece of news in Asian Federation Cup women's competition (I actually follow men's AFC but this was worth reading). Jordan's national team lost to Iran and they're adamant the goalkeeper's actually a man. Their prince has demanded FIFA look into it.

I'm not going to judge until I watch the reel itself -- you can always tell when the goalie's a man =p No offence even if some people would take it; I'm sure it'll change over the years but right now, women's goalkeeping hasn't arrived at the acrobatic levels of men's!

I watched the video. You can think that the goalkeeper is a man, at least from the stature and movement. But this is also difficult to determine, because biologically you can be both. I can only think of the case of the South African female sprinter Caster Semenya a few years ago, where it is still not really clear, despite several investigations, whether she is actually a man.
I think such cases will be much more common in women's sports in the future and that the respective worldwide federations will have to create clear rules to preserve fairness.

Funny news. I don’t want to discuss gender issues (since this is offtopic and for many people is a hot topic), I’m just wondering how is this even possible - uncertainty? I remember that 20-30 years ago there were scandals with the fact that many adult football players played in the youth teams of Nigeria, but now they cannot appear out of nowhere and information about age and gender can be traced until birth.

I watched the video. You can think that the goalkeeper is a man, at least from the stature and movement. But this is also difficult to determine, because biologically you can be both. I can only think of the case of the South African female sprinter Caster Semenya a few years ago, where it is still not really clear, despite several investigations, whether she is actually a man.
I think such cases will be much more common in women's sports in the future and that the respective worldwide federations will have to create clear rules to preserve fairness.

Yeah, sorry, it is perhaps slightly off topic, but these games are actually FIFA-governed games for AFC (which Jordan and Iran are members of), which actually determine qualification into FIFA World Cup, albeit for the women's version of the tournament, for which there is, unfortunately, no correct sub-thread for me to add this comment into (or is there and I can't find it?).

The keeper has played for her whole life as a woman, of course, as I'm finding out now. Just funny that a team only challenges the decision AFTER they lose a game. Go Iran!

As a side comment, I have followed women's football recently and they have vastly, vastly improved over the past 5/10 years. Technically speaking, they're quite high quality in some countries, which wasn't the case 10 years ago, based on my admittedly limited observation.

Feels bad for Cristiano Ronaldo. Qatar 2022 was supposed to be his final world cup appearance. Portugal may still qualify, as they are on top in the playoff table. They have 17 points, followed by Russia at 16 (Switzerland or Italy may still end up with more points after today's match). Within two days, the first phase of the UEFA qualifiers will be over and we will get the list of 10 teams who qualify as the group winners. For teams like Portugal, we need to wait for a few more months, until the playoffs are complete.

A direct qualification for the 2022 World Cup has not been achieved by Portugal. Play-offs will now be necessary. Seeing Cristiano Ronaldo in this state is really saddening. This is a complete injustice to a team like Portugal. They should not be in any play-offs. Considering Portugal has a world-winning squad, they should not have to enter a play-off. But they still have a chance to make it and Portugal should take it seriously.

Serbia did it, as their performance against Portugal was spectacular. Yesterday's game didn't offer much in terms of action. I just watched Serbia show the world that they are no underdogs.

It was a really sad night for Portugal. They were ahead of Serbia at average. If it had ended in a draw, they would have finished the leader. However, Mitrovic did not allow this. He brought the victory to Serbia with the goal he scored in the 90th minute. With this result, Serbia finished the group leader. Congratulations Serbia.

It's quite unfortunate that portugal had to do a play off match to qualify for the 2022 world cup, as you said, actually portugal is one of the favorite teams every time the world cup is held, but unfortunately portugal squandered the opportunity to be able to qualify directly in the match against serbia, actually in the match Portugal can qualify directly for the 2022 World Cup finals if they draw with Serbia, but it seems that luck is still not on their side.

I have to say I was really surprised to see that Portugal got beaten by Serbia. And I also thought that book to a girl should have played better than what they did in that match. And I hope that put to girl will play better from next time because it is the last world cup of Cristiano Ronaldo.

yeah, will be interesting how Italy can react if Switzerland tank Bulgaria in first half

Okay,  he sure does look like a man and I honestly don't know what to say. I do not think it's something like that but my eyes are saying something different. And if it is something like that then I wanted how this happened and how this player got so far.

Regardless of the goalkeeper being a man or women, there is biological women with a "body" of a male due to hormonal disorders or they can look like a woman in birth but genetically a male thus they have muscles like men.
It is complicated honestly and for the sake of the goalie, I prefer he is cheating rather than having a chronic disease.
I saw few moments of yesterday games especially Spain and Serbia second goal and what a good moments they have. CR7 was pissed off since Portugal has to wait for play-offs to be able to participate in Qatar World Cup.
Today's games don't have an impact except for both Switzerland and Italy matches. Both teams have to win and score a lot of goals!
For England, they will face San Marino so first place is guaranteed.

Those two matches have a lot of similarities. Both of them have "clear" favorites that both want to score as much as possible and keep their sheet clean. While their opponents aren't huge names they can cause them trouble and why not, even win them. IMO these games are both interesting to watch, I will start though with N. Ireland - Italy.

Serbia indeed deserved to win, although some people were surprised by Portugal's defeat. Serbia played more solidly with a fairly good passing
accuracy, then Serbia also had better ball possession than Portugal. From there, I can judge Serbia more highly in their efforts to win the game,

Portugal should have lost the game in Ireland as well, and even then it was obvious that Portugal had serious problems.
I would say that Portugal has the same problem as Manchester United and as Juve had and that problem is called Ronaldo.
In modern football, all players must have equal responsibilities and play both defense and attack.
If you have a player who doesn’t play defense then you play with a player less all the time and that’s a serious handicap.
Ronaldo has become bigger than his team and that is the main problem of Portugal.

I really don't think he is the problem of any team. I think the problem is that the strategies are not being made around him. He is undoubtedly the best player in those teams. So the link strategy should be made around him and every player should try to enable their best player. And one player cannot do everything. If you ask Robert Lewandowski to play defense maybe he will do good because he was actually once a defender. But if you ask Luis Suarez to defend I know he will not do really well. And Ronaldo does his job very well which is scoring goals but he needs the playmakers to get him the ball.

in terms of appearance and body gestures it's true I also see this
but what I think in this case is whether it is possible for the organizers not to see and sort the players who compete first.
regardless of whether this is true or not maybe this will be something that Iran will be able to prove later about its clarification.
but maybe it will be crowded for some time to come

I think so  the results of this match did not affect the position for both countries in the standings Denmark remains in the 1st place Scotland in 2nd place

matches in group F don't have any tournament meaning because Denmark and Scotland already secured 1st and 2nd places respectively. there is only question: can Denmark win all the group matches?

All correct and I will skip when betting but I still think Denmark is winning this one. They are better team and they will try to finish the group with maximum points. They have perfect score so far and that goal in last game they conceded was the only one in whole qualifiers for them. There is potential for some records tonight for sure and I expect Denmark to be good today.

Nothing interesting to bet on today so I went just with both to score on Poland game to have some skin in the game.
