From year to year Fifa continues to make new policies towards world football and of course this makes many countries pro and contra for the changes made by fifa so far, I personally consider all changes made by fifa of course for the good of all countries participating in the world cup.

If so, maybe this is done to reduce disruption to the match, so that each team will have a maximum of three time slots of opportunity to make substitutions during the match.

I'm personally not too surprised by this goalless draw, because teams in this region of South America even though their players are star players, they often find it difficult to score. I sometimes watch their matches live and in my assumption they only want goals from individual effort and not teamwork, but when a team from South America plays against a team from Europe they are more likely to work as a team. Anyway, Brazil and Argentina have already qualified for the World Cup and that's how it should be.

He has nothing to lose by making that guarantee. If they don't qualify, he'll lose his job anyway, regardless of whether or not he'd made the guarantee. I do think though that if you are going to say something like that, it could be counter-productive... but at least he's said it before the draw is made. If they got a tough-ish opponent like Czech Republic, and he made that statement, it would really galvanise the opposition to want to prove him wrong. Saying it before the draw is made makes it less personal... unless he's suggesting that Portugal can beat all these other teams easily, including Italy. 

Well, it may not be so much personal but it is a really bold statement to make under such circumstances. You know, Portugal is not in very good shape right now, So, I think his comment can give the team some moral boost or something. And I really hope that is the case.

There were 42 fouls combined in Argentina's 0-0 draw against Brazil, and there were 7 total yellow cards, so I can only imagine the players' temperament. Now Argentina remain unbeaten after 27 games. They might reach that record position if they continue. Furthermore, both Argentina and Brazil are undefeated in world cup qualifiers, meaning they can make many changes in the remaining games. Lionel Messi is going to feature in another World Cup. Qatar 2022 will be Messi's fifth World Cup.

Different with with Europe almost country make team work how to created goal but South America many goal created from individual player, most different player quality in one team make some player have show his individual skill to make goal, but looks not interested with match on South America and many countries from there can't talk more on world cup last few season, always from Europe as champion on world cup after Brazil dominance on 2002.

It's a shame that teams like Italy and Portugal had to enter the play-off zone, both of whom were defending champions at the previous Euros. With this result, maybe only one of them gets a ticket to the World Cup or maybe neither. Because right now the dark horse teams are very likely to put up a strong fight too, I personally really doubt that because I was one of the people who bet for Italy and Portugal to win in yesterday's match.

I don't understand what all this fuss about Portugal playing play-off. Is it a new thing and I don't think it is official anymore. They are used to playing play-offs either the old or new Portugal, even in Europe cup they also use to qualify as a best looser. As a Big fan, I am not surprise about Portugal playing playoffs. Because at the end, they will qualify and start hailing the goat. it just happened that Portugal Coach was tactical clueless against Serbia. He started the game with a defensive approach. Just imagining with the like of C.Ronaldo, Bernado Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota, Joao Felix, Andre Silva and he just be packing the bus against Serbia.

Turkey already conceded a goal in the 4th minute and it looks like it is in a very difficult situation. Now I understand that the draw between Montenegro and the Netherlands was not an accident. But in any case, if Norway loses, it will remain in third place.

I would not say that this is an ironclad rule, but it really works often. I often make such bets when the underdog scores a goal first and the chances of winning the favorite grow, it is really profitable at a distance. but indeed this match was quite exciting and both teams appeared open even though there were no goals created and it was impressed playing in the middle of the field because it was rare for the ball to reach the goal of both teams.
On the other hand I highlight the Brazilian goalkeeper, in which Alisson Becker was one of the important players who managed to deny Argentina a number of chances because he made several saves and that was pretty good I think.

If I am not mistaken, then this is generally the first victory of Serbia over Portugal in their history of confrontations. I can say that the Portuguese played the last two matches very frivolously, without a proper attitude, and we all see the result well. Of course, Portugal has chances to come out, but they have brought matters to unnecessary additional play-offs, in which anything is possible, because only one match will be played there.

It was a really meaningful night for Turkey in the Group G. But I won't be saying the same thing for Norway too. Turkey had to win to qualify for the playoffs. Actually in case Netherlands beat Norway, Turkey would still qualify for the playoffs even if they get a draw. And Turkey defeated Montenegro by 2-1 away and secured their place. There was even a possibility for Turkey to join the World Cup directly if Norway beat Netherlands somehow. The score was 0-0 for a very long period of time. But in the last ten minutes, Netherlands scored two goals and defeated Norway by 2-0. They have joined the World Cup directly and Norway were eliminated from the qualifiers. Let's see whether Turkey will be successful in the playoffs and join the main tourney also.

England beat San Marino 10-0. incredible score. San Marino is a weak team, of course. But professionally conceding 10 goals in an international match must have been a very bad feeling. Scotland beat Denmark 2-0.  However, Denmark should have played with a slightly weaker squad as they have won all their previous matches. Poland unexpectedly lost 2-1 at home to Hungary. However, his ranking did not change.

Yup...  After playing vs Albania and San Marino, Harry Maguire must be so sad when he realized that international break is over and he’ll be back playing the league under a Solskjaer squad again.

Portugal did not lose hope of qualifying for the playoff, but it really depend on who the opponent is because it is certain that both countries have the same desire to qualify for the world cup.

I only hope that Ronaldo can participate in the world cup once again as a player because it is very possible that he retires to represent his country after the world cup is over. This is the last chance for Ronaldo to play in the world cup and he will work hard to get his country through this time. We'll just have to wait and see who they are up against after the draw.

The qualifiers are set up a bit differently now - 12 teams will be split into 3 pots. Each team will play a semifinal and a final, so from 3 pots there will be 3 winners that will secure qualifications to the World Cup.

Since each game will be a one-off, the room for error is nonexistent. Also - the probability to play another big team in the final is really high.

Bottom line - I'm really glad that Croatia was able to qualify directly. This is way harder than before.

In fact, Croatia has always been very successful in the additional qualifiers and each time they won and qualified for the World Cup, since 1998.
However, these qualifications will be the most difficult so far, and it is certainly good that Croatia has avoided it.
Can you imagine the match in the second round between Italy and Portugal, and their big fight for the World Cup, which is not impossible?

all football lovers are confused by the policy taken by FIFA regarding the rules for the play-offs for the European zone world cup qualifying matches, this is a new rule set by the world football association by distributing 2 pots where each contains 4 teams and they will play until the final maybe for me it's a bit silly about with these rules we don't know what they are doing with the format that no longer applies to home and away matches which are usually applied to the match for the last ticket to the world cup

There was a really interesting game last night in the South America World Cup Qualifiers. Argentina hosted Brazil. They were already very comfortable in their group as they were tearing their opponents apart one by one. Argentina got so many draws though but Brazil won 11 of their 13 group games. And both of these teams are still unbeaten. In this game, I wasn't expecting Argentina to lose and they didn't surprise me. But I'd have liked to see goals in this game. This was the boring part of it.

Wasn't able to watch game because it was too late for me. From stats, seems it was typical dirty South American game .
Meanwhile Uruguay continue to struggle, they lost to Bolivia 3:0, it's their 4th loss in the row. It's alway difficult to play against Bokivia on high altitude with limited oxygene. But Uruguay are just 2 points behind Colombia and Peru, who are 4th-5th.

Yes, Croatia should real promise the last world cup and I am happy for them too. But I am really sad about Portugal not qualifying directly. As this is Cristiano Ronaldo's last world cup I think deserved better from his own team.

While it is sad at the end of the day they have no one other than themselves to blame, they only needed two draws during their last two matches to get their ticket to the world cup and they were unable to do this under circumstances that were very favorable to them.

And what should be really disappointing is not only that they failed to qualify directly to the world cup but how this happened, they allowed a goal at the last minutes of the most important game of the qualifiers, which tells me they let their guard down as they felt they were already qualified to the world cup, and we will have to see if Portugal can get their ticket to the world cup, something not easy when there are many good teams which could beat them any given day.
