However if the war drags on it is possible that Ukraine will have to forfeit the match and lose any opportunity to go to the world cup, but at the same time it would be an incredible story if the Ukrainian team could play the qualifiers and made it to the world cup, as without a doubt that would inspire their population during these difficult times they are facing.

I feel really bad for Ukraine but not all hope is lost, as FIFA has postponed the game till June and I’m sure that peace will be established by then so hopefully Ukraine will be able to play the game. If in the rule book of the FIFA there is in fact a rule about teams being disqualified and the opponent getting the win then there is nothing to do about this as those are the rules everyone agreed before the competition even started, and if they would like a change to this rule then they can argue their case if they want, but it should not affect the decision to let Poland move to the next round.

No more! There is no specific rule for this type of situation, which happened with Russia.
The rule that exists is that if a team does not attend a game, it loses that game 3-0. In this case, it was a disqualification imposed by the organization, not giving that record of victory to Poland, but guaranteeing the passage to the next round.

Of course, this may seem a little unfair, for the team that will have to play against Poland, and that had to play a game 3/4 days before. But based on the current rules, there's not much to do.

I believe that FIFA is not going to change it’s decision about letting Poland advance, because if they once again make any changes now then it’ll upset other teams hence this decision of theirs is final. Lastly Russia do have the right to appeal, and only if they win that appeal will Poland have to play them, but if they lose then FIFA decision stands and it’s time we all respect their decision as it won’t be changed under any circumstances only exception is Russia winning their appeal.
