That first map win from Vitality kind of set the momentum for them in the next few maps and Team Spirit losing their map pick right off the bat only spelled trouble for them.

If only Team Spirit won at least one of the pistol rounds in Mirage maybe they could've forced a fourth, still losing all six of them throughout the series is so unusual.

The Blast finals also finished with Tundra sweeping Gaimin Gladiators similar to their previous meetings, making their H2H 4-0 in series wins with no map losses.

Not so sure @summonerrk about those comments inregards to dota2 tournaments.
They have alot of bets coming in for ones which are being played as we speak.
BLAST Slam II has been quite entertaining to watch and Xtreme Gaming vs Nigma Galaxy has been a very close one just for an example about the interest from their fans.
I believe you are talking about The International tournament and I would have to agree with you there, it was a really nice tournament since Riyadh Seasons sponsored that event if I am not mistaken.
They had alot of money and backing to bring that tournament together and make it look as polished as it was.

Turning to CounterStrike discussion towards the current major of the Intel Extreme Masters tournament:
Just watching Eternal Fire and they are up 7-1 against Faze Clan.
The odds were just about 50/50 for who would win this match and the Turkish squad has been making massive strides during the past six months in making a huge name for themselves in CS2.

It is immediately obvious that you are well versed in the topic, because you absolutely correctly guessed that I meant the International with its rewards for ordinary players and all sorts of events, like those when they gave away free sets for heroes, and each set was very well thought out and unique. It was a great joy to get one of them. And now I plan not to even buy a new compendium. The situation looks like it is better to put this money on some team you like Smiley Such a decision will bring much more emotions than buying stupid pictures of a loading screen.

Dota 2 : We have Gaiming Gladiators vs Tundra in Blast 2 finals and to be honest , I see GG winning this one after they were able to eliminated Falcons with 2-0 on semi-finals  Shocked
I have bet for GG for so many times when they've changed their roster but none of those IIRC won me money. In the end, Tundra took the grand finals with a grandstanding of 3-0.

The Blast finals also finished with Tundra sweeping Gaimin Gladiators similar to their previous meetings, making their H2H 4-0 in series wins with no map losses.
It's like a walk in the park with Tundra. IMHO, they're like a perfect when it's been so long since Tundra has gotten into major tournaments. And so aside from the prize pool, they also will receive team earnings that will be distributed to each team member or whatever was the deal between orgs and players. If someone is curious there how much the prize pool and how much each team earned, look at this;

I also got screwed by Gaimin Gladiators back then because we all had the same expectation (including the bookies) when Watson got announced and watching their games is enough to know why they've been struggling.

On top of it, the tournament format of Blast made the path easier for any winning team from the group stage as they only needed one series win to advance to the finals.

I like that guy when he was still with his former team C9 and Entity and I thought that he'd be able to deliver quickly with GG. They did but not the expected outcome just like what we have thought of.

It's like a walk in the park with Tundra. IMHO, they're like a perfect when it's been so long since Tundra has gotten into major tournaments. I agree, that type of round robin made it for most of them. While the others have been easily waiting for their opponents to the next rounds, the farthest have to go through a rough road based on how they placed during the group stages. There is no fun in it as a fan but for those waiting teams, it is.

No. Not really. I am more a fan of CounterStrike as I had been playing and watching their matches since it came out back in 1998-2000 when seen it for the first time in my Comp.Sci class.

The others in the thread @ralle14 & @passwordnow are more versed in the ways of DOTA2 gameplay and their teams.
The Internationals are the most well-known tournament for dota because of where it is hosted and the prize pool is immense due to that. Or atleast it was! Grin

There was this video I began watching before the weekend and the majority of it focused on Dota2 and how they are losing millions in the process of these tournaments just because the interest is just not there as it was the past few years:

Too many shooting games right now and I think that's one of the reasons why the interest in Dota2 went down. Then, the graphics of other games with battle arena style are also catching up.
I think the most watched right now are the shooting games although I still know a lot of friends who keeps on playing Dota 1 and 2 up until now because that's where they really good at.

Back to CS.
BLAST Rising Asia Spring 2025 Quarter Finals have 2 games later.

The Huns Esports versus Chinggis Warriors
Lynn Vision versus Unsettled Resentment

Huns and Lynn are the favorites to win this game and climb to the next round.

CounterStrike does seem to be taking the attention away from DOTA2 lately.
Because if teams such as Falcons can afford offer S1mple enough for him to be styling around Spain in a brand new Ferrari like this:

https://x.com/Alkem1stCS/status/1887257791313961362

Then you know these teams have money coming in whether that be winning tournaments or not.

Other than the Asia ones there are Intel Extreme Masters in Dallas closed qualifiers happening.
Also a brand new tournament beginning in Bucharest & Cluj-Napoca for PGL on February 14th-23rd.

Have you seen this already everyone? Esports coming to Olympics and I think our favorite esports are going to be part of it. (Dota 2, CS2, LOL, etc.)

Source: https://www.olympics.com/ioc/news/inaugural-olympic-esports-games-to-be-held-in-riyadh-in-2027-road-to-the-games-to-start-this-year

It will be in 2 years time and it's not the sports that we're following that will be part of it but then, esports too. Wow, it is a dream come true for those pro players that they'll get to be part of the Olympics. Being qualified in there is many dreams of and how much more if they become the champion in there.

Kind of reminds me of last year's in Paris when they introduced break dancing to be an Olympic sport too.
Depending on the venue, this time being Riyadh, the committee overseeing this allows the host country to have their say into which sport they would like see introduced into the next Olympic curriculum.
And that largest for DOTA2 is the Riyadh Masters is what I am thinking is the reason behind this introduction of Esports into the Olympics.

I think you're right, the success of Riyadh Masters that even it has got better prize pool than the traditional yearly The International probably made it. The Olympics will be held in Saudi Arabia and hopefully it will continue for the next Olympics too. Because we will never know if it will be removed or kept. I also think that a big factor is that the prince of Saudi is a big player and fan of esports so, it probably really helped the decision for the Olympics committee to make that addition.

Believe I remember seeing the four seasons logo sponsoring an event in the United States too. So they are the ones bringing in the money for the prizes.

With PGL just starting I think that CounterStrike has more tournaments going on currently than dota2 does for this month and the next.
Didn't you see a CS2 player who is just taking vacations in Spain riding around brand new Ferrari picture above?
He has signed with Team Falcons but currently not in the in-play roster yet.
So you just know they are getting taken care of quite well if they don't need to play in a tournament and just enjoying themselves being inactive on the team.

Faze Banks was even seen on a livestream a few days ago endorsing a memecoin for Hailey Welch.

PGL cluj napoca is starting in about 16 hours with most of them being T2 teams and a whopping 1.25 Million $ prizepool

Mongolz is the highest ranked team participating i really hope they win it  Grin
They surely have one of the best chances at taking it all, but I still see a few good teams (Faze, Virtus.Pro, Eternal Fire) that can hold them off if those guys can show some clean results in the group stage.

We'll have to see if they still have that same firepower just like in Katowice and if not then this could be anyone's tournament to win.

MongolZ just won their match against WildCard which was competitive for them on the last map almost going into OT.
But they managed to blank them 2-0 so they are the ones to beat in this tournament with performances today from Senzu & bLitz.

BiG also beat FlyQuest which was predicted and MOUZ blanking 3DMAX.
And as you had mentioned, Virtus.Pro just dispatched Complexity with a 2-0 win with the last map going into OT.

Man I'm so glad I don't have any spare money to gamble on PGL Cluj-Napoca CS2 event ( which is btw in Romania but too far away from me to actually go and watch the live event ) but also the DreamLeague Season 25 on Dota 2 and both events are amazing to watch as a fan but as a gambler I'm sure it's not so enjoyable because in CS2 we have almost only 2-0 maps and the same goes in Dota 2. However , for me it's been a while since I saw in Dota 2 such a crazy patch that had such a big impact in pro scene because the current meta is a lot of magic damage countered by glimmer cape for magic resistance...pretty wild patch.  Grin Grin

Not familiar with what that new patch does but the way you have explained it, this should change the way all teams will play and affect tournament results because of it.
That doesn't sound too good for those veteran players who are use to playing the way they have been since the last one was done to the game.

Been watching the PGL matches on and off as almost all of the way those matches played today were sposse to happen.
Having Falcons bouncing back against Astralis with their loss against pAIN gaming and FaZe, Virtus.Pro, Eternal Fire and The MongolZ winning all their matches.

As rohang has mentioned that is it for today and the tournament continues on tomorrow with the one I am wanting to see with Falcons going against MOUZ.

Surprising enough Riyadh Masters was a bigger prize pool than TI last season. Basically they reduced the prizes for the winners yet the one in Riyadh was their debut and sponsorships were alot more with the Riyadh Four Seasons being the main one.
I am hoping that the next Riyadh Masters will have bigger prize pool. This is going to help the esports community and it's not just in dota 2 but also in other games too. CS2, League, R6 and many more. This will encourage more professional esports player to get out of retirement and just contribute to whichever cause they think will be able to help the new generation while keeping the current meta and the players that are in there now.

Believe I remember seeing the four seasons logo sponsoring an event in the United States too. So they are the ones bringing in the money for the prizes.
I didn't know about this one. But for as long as there is a good cause of these events and more sponsors coming in to support the esports community and for the Olympics, this is going to be history made and written. Anyone, look closely to the dota 2 and we're having a big tournament now which is the Dream League Season 25, prize pool is $1M and the day 1 for the group stage 1 has just ended. And that means there will be group stage 2 but that will be after 3 more days, so moving on to the day 2 of the GS1.

Here are the schedules of matches playing later and for the next days for groups A and B.

Betting on the PGL tournament has been great, the odds are mostly close and the better teams are winning their series as expected.

DreamLeague on the other hand is always brutal for pre-live betting because of the bo2 format in the group stages and just like in the previous seasons we've seen teams put up unexpected results. I still remember in one of the seasons back then a lot of teams finished with 1-1 scorelines, and in the other season, half of the teams were getting swept with only a few teams tying up their series.
