England has many high quality players, but they have had problems when choosing coaches, in my opinion I don't see England being able to win this Euro, they will be able to pass the group stage because they were lucky to be in a group that has weak teams , but when they move on to another stage and encounter strong teams, they will lose and be eliminated. I don't understand why the coach chose not to take Jack Grealish, but we'll see if the coach really made a good choice in choosing this squad or if he made a bad choice in choosing this squad. If England's performance in this Euro is a failure, the coach will receive a lot of criticism

After some tournaments, it is a first tournament Maguire will not be called by Southgate but I see Maguire does not have good performances for Manchester United and his skills are not better than other central defenders in England so this decision is reasonable.

Grealish struggled to appear in Manchester City squad, first because he got many injuries and second is his performances were not good enough to convince Pep Guardiola. Striking out Grealish is another reasonable decision from Southgate too.

I only feel disagree with Southgate because he did not choose Maddison but this player has never been in serious plan of Southgate recent years. Luke Shaw was chosen by Southgate but this decision is like very emotional and I disagree with Southgate too. Luke will not be ready for Euro and England squad so calling a player mainly will stay on bench because not fully recovered, is not reasonable at all.

Germany is indeed a very strong team at the moment. Moreover, at this Euro, Germany will be the host, so it is certain that Germany will play very well because the superters or ultras from their country will definitely support it to the maximum. Then when we talk about Scotland, I don't think this team can be underestimated, because if you look at the match record during Euro qualifying, Scotland played very well. The reason is that from the 8 matches played, Scotland was able to achieve 5 wins, 2 draws and only experienced 1 defeat. In fact, Scotland is also a pretty great team. Even in the Euro qualifying match, Scotland also managed to beat Spain in the first meeting. So you could say that Scotland could be the team that will give a surprise at the euro this time.
Even though in the euro this time Scotland was placed with Germany, Hungary and also Switzerland. Maybe only Germany will make things difficult for Scotland. Because of Switzerland and Hungary, I don't think the quality is much different to Scotland. So I'm sure Scotland can definitely be runner up in group A and qualify for the next round.

And Scotland's match against Finland will of course be a very important test match for Scotland, to see how mature the squad they currently have is for the upcoming Euro.

Germany as a host and they are as one of champion candidates in this tournament but probably they still required more time to adapt because under Julian Nagelsmann Germany performance still not fully impressive even since handled by Julian Nagelsmann Germany have already to through an 7 friendlies matches and Germany only able to gets 3 wins from those matches and 2 lost even the latest is Germany only playing draw from Ukraine and indeed Nagelsmann was adding some of interesting names into Germany squad such as Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz seems the current squad of Germany will be dominated by young players

We all know Florian Wirtz performance was very fantastic with Leverkusen so i have no wonder Nagelsmann was putting him into Germany squad for current tournament and i am looking forward to see his performance later whether he can play as well as at Leverkusen or not and about their debut match in Euro 2024 against Scotland i haven't checked the odds yet but as a host i will assume Germany is the favourite but i don't think Germany can easily to beat Scotland because during qualification stages Scotland performance also very impressive

Yes it`s true, it`s one of the strongest teams together with Spain for example.
However, I don`t like the way they play, I don`t like the rigidity they have in midfield and in general I prefer the typical strokes of genius of Latin players, Spanish or Brazilian. I like to see fun actions and not just aimed at getting the result.

The truth is it is a shame for Enes Ünal, a great player of the Turkish national team, however they have a very good team and can make the difference, personally I also think like you, I position Portugal as first in their group, but as long as the coach knows how to handle the kids who are anti cr7 because Bruno and a few others find it difficult not to pass the player too much, then you have to add these things, as a coach I would not even call BRUNO, I would call another player who would do a much better job and with that I would make way for new generation relief players who at least let themselves be guided and advised by the veterans and can do a better job and not have what happened in Qatar happen again.

As someone who watched super league because I like betting on it (I would suggest to everyone, it's quite easy to make some money from that league) so I know plenty of their players, and of course we have all seen what Arda guler did.

I have to say, they have preferred some players I am not familiar with during the last Italy friendly, don't know if it was just to see some of the players they want to cut, but in the end I know that if they do go out with their "ideal" eleven, and manager doesn't do some stupid decision making, they are actually quite good. I believe that they could probably do something very good, like semi finals or so, it looks like they are capable by sheer talent, we just need to see if manager does well.

Maddison had a way better season than Grealish so I would expect to see him at least. There was a friendly a few days ago and he made an assist in 30 minutes. It looks like that also didn't seem like a good signal to Southgate. 

Why is Trent categorized as a midfielder in the image? Has he started to play mainly in the midfield and have I missed it?    I know his other positions are DM and CM but throughout his career we have seen him playing as RB.

Southgate choice of picking players is among the main  reasons England has not been able to win a trophy since his charge even with the depth of players available for him.

Though this can be said to be among the best he has picked since took charged because there are usually more surprised names ignored but still yet James would have been a top priority for other coaches who knows what they're doing especially from his recent form being among the best Spurs player this season and also among the best Epl midfielders this season, now I'm wondering  how good is this Adam Wharton though.

Euro 2024 is going to last a month as the past tournaments and after that there wouldn't be a big space left until leagues restart. I hope we watch a delightful Euro tournament meanwhile.

The thing I want to see the most is a big amount of goals.    Otherwise it would stay below my expectations. I wish best of luck to my country, Turkey also.    We were terrible in Euro 2020 so I hope we do better this time. And Euro 2008 still has a special place in my heart...

There should be plenty goals to be recorded during the tournament, and we can see some surprises along the line because there will be countless of unexpected results and the countries we might hoped for to win the tournament might end up not winning it.

Without hesitation, I would like to say that Germany is the strongest team in Europe and is even the favorite team to top Group A. Even so, Germany cannot underestimate its opponents, even though Germany has home advantage, Germany always has difficulty against dark horse teams. Scotland can win against Spain in qualifying. Hungary who slaughtered England 4-0 and Switzerland are the most stable Central European teams. So it's not easy.

Even though Germany is the favorite to win this year's Euro, it is very rare or even that none of the hosts of the tournament have won. If Julian Nagelsmann can lead Germany to become EURO champions this year, that would be great.

Last summer after the end of the season, football fans across the globe were starved of major football events because there wasn't any major competition that was going on but that'll not be the case this summer because we two major tournaments involving the two best footballing continents. In South America, the Copa America will be played this summer while in Europe, we'll experience the UEFA Euros Championship.
The Euros is just one week away from kick off and and I can't just wait for the official kickoff. The top European national teams are going to participate which is why football fans across the globe will definitely be seeing their favorites players in action.

Romanian not being able to score 1 goals in 2 games against Bulgaria and today against Lichtenstein ( the odds were 1.04 for Romania to win and I must admit on my national tv it was a big scandal for not being able to score once ). Iceland doesn't have a solid team anymore so I really don't understand how they lost this one because the first 11 players were all stars and most likely will all play at Euro.

I might have a misguided perception of the tournament, but it seems like there are no high expectations from people, as many top players are retiring and there are few notable coaches to bring surprises. Football isn't what it used to be, but I expect to see Portugal or Germany in the finals. I'm baffled by Gareth Southgate's decision to leave many top players behind. If he doesn't make it to the final, he might face criticism that could cost him his job

Well i understand SouthGate criticisms and am sure the English Fa also understands the criticism. While southgate draws many criticisms about tactics, squad and trophy shouts; he remains the only England manager in recent years to get a semi final and final in fifa competitions and k believe this is why he remains in job.

Southgate gets the job done, he just needs to win something to show for the efforts or resign honorably tbh if he fails again at Euro 2024

In my opinion the coach made a bad decision, he only succeeded in assembling inexperienced players who has never been tested in a major tournament. Look at the players like Cole Palmer, Watkins, Kobie Mainoo and others who made the squad list. See at some point experience is what is needed to go through at the big stage. England won't have any chance when they meet teams like France and Germany Portugal included and Netherlands. Southgate be acting like he is a master of the game but he has nothing in his head, I hope England get rid of him after this tournament. Of England had a good coach they would have won a trophy since Southgate took over. You can't tell that Super Jack doesn't meet the criteria to be selected, he is a top player and he play good football and the fans love him so what's the problem with Southgate now.

On my own opinion, I think I am a bit skeptical of the exclusion of jack grealish, because he is way better than Bowen that was selected, so that decision too me wasn't right, and as for the experience you are actually talking about, you are very much correct on that, where is Raheem sterling? Where is harry Maguire, though they are not that perfect, but their experience will be very vital in the tournament, especially when they are up against the bigger boys, like France, Portugal, Spain, Germany and Italy, because all my time as a football fan, I have never seen a youthful team win anything big especially in European cup like this, so am very much in support with your sentiment bro.

And as for Southgate, I believe that his future will be determined by the outcome of this tournament, and I believe that he knows very well, so it's up to him to deliver or fail this time around.

On the contrary Southgate might be holding some grudges against the players he dropped. Maybe he is somehow blaming them for being the reason why they lost the last Euros to Italy and also the world cup exit. He might be feeling that if he go with same squad, something similar might happen to them, that's why he opted to go with almost an entirely new squad. I just hope this experiment works out for him. I think he is trying to introduce a new generation of England players to the bigger stage of international football as this will help them build their confidence. My only concern right now is, why do such a experiment at a time England desperately need a trophy.

Even with the advent of the League of Nations, there are very few titles in football at the level of national teams for everyone who deserves to have some kind of achievement. It is clear that a lot is expected from England (especially now that they are the favorites), but in such tournaments the randomness is very large (+ there are worthy competitors) so I would not blame the coach if England does not take first place.

Yes the tournament is definitely unpredictable not just for anything but for the fact that the nations have almost an equally balanced squad. In the past their two or three standout squads with great players but right nor they we like 7 nations who can go on and win the title. Another is that this tournament is more like a transitional tournament for the nations, most nations have old players stepping out with the future prospects stepping in to fill the void.

SouthGate is definitely leaving his role as the Three lions manager if he gets results of anything less than the title. But to me I don’t quite blame his selection this time around, most of the senior players missed out due to fitness issues and some to form dips. My only notable omissions were Braithwate and Trafford who both were terrific with their clubs but they have a long time to make up history though

As much as I would like to say "it's just a friendly", I can't because this is how England behaves. Whenever there is so much optimism within them, they fumble. That is part of the reason I wouldn't pick them if I were to pick a team to win the Euro.
I am not reading much into this loss though, but I believe it should be a wake-up call for England to realise that they're not invincible.

Also, I think Southgate got a few things wrong. He played Foden behind the striker and Palmer on the wing. I am not a coach, but I know that Foden excels most when he plays from the wing and Palmer excels most when he plays behind the striker. So their positions should be swapped. If he doesn't do that, his attack might not be that effective.
