I think everyone on this thread missing very important point for reserve currencies of the world. Every reserve currency must be protected/supported by military. The British pound (GBP) supported by UK army, USD now backed by military and the Yuan will be supported by Chinese military once it become a reserve currency of the world.

So, BTC has no chance to become a world reserve currency. It is a fair currency trying to survive in this weapon backed world.

What do you think?

cyber warfare is the future.

When you invaded by tanks cyber warfare become meaningless. Of course cyber warfare is important as long as you can defend your borders.

which basements will they drive the tanks into first? Chinese, Russian, American? bitcoin has no borders to defend.

You're missing my point. I said BTC has no support from weapons/military/militia which is almost every world currency has support from its own military.

No, you're totally correct about borderless currency. All I'm saying is it is not enough for surviving. You will need weapons once SHTF.

It's good to see that there is demand for bitcoin around the world, but I don't really think it is a global currency yet.  I think there are people around the world that see bitcoin's potential and are willing to invest in it. I don't think it's a huge number of people yet and they aren't necessarily using it as a currency yet.
I believe majority of the world has already use bitcoins but as to the volume of users I cannot estimate now. The good thing is the demand of bitcoins is increasing as evidence by its current price today that has substantially increase also. In the future it will become a global currency.

I dont get it. Why not global now. Simple example. I go to Iraq now. I go online then I can access it. I can buy also or sell it. So it is global right? Globally online. You just need internet.
This is already global as majority of the countries have already use and adopted bitcoins, although I may say that in totality we are just few compared to the total population of the world but the good thing is the users are continuously growing.

Yes we are still at low percentage of population in the world that use bitcoins. But, you are right about adoption. Sectors that do investment could also help advertising it for faster growth.
You can now see indeed that Bitcoin is going to becoming a global currency and that is because there are now a lot of people is getting to know about Bitcoin and that is nice.
But the thing of Bitcoin is that the value of the Bitcoin have to be higher so we can do many things with it later and that is nice.

No one can predict or control the price of bitcoin, but the fact is it needs some more time to get recognition globally, it has not been used by majority of people yet.

true, for now I have everybody using bitcoin, even in the future it is still not known. and bitcoin price also can not be in control, I felt it would be very difficult to be a Global Currency, but we can not guess the development of bitcoin, because it could be the impossible becomes possible

Everybody in the world can make use of Bitcoin so if you look at it that we you can see it as a global currency but that is not good enough to become a real global currency.
I think that Bitcoin has the potential to become a global currency.

It has a potential obviously and would be happy if it will become a global currency, with this happening we can help the world save from the higher transaction costs charges by the banks when we transact through them, it take a little time for the people to adopt and with constant support in spreading the news we can achieved that in the near future.

Bitcoin is not backed by gold either, but unlike traditional currency, there is a maximum limit of value to be created out of thin air.

That's a good sign for the price to increase more in the future, considering the population of china it would really help to make bitcoins even popular in the other world and as a result the investors in the early stage will profit more and even us now buying the current price will still benefit.

You already can see now that Bitcoin is already used all over the world and that is nice and I also think that the value of Bitcoin is rising slowly now so that is really nice.
