Hey XMR fam, have you checked Sumokoin ANN ? It is a fork from XMR with a very low marketcap right now (under 300k dollars) with four active core devs and a sick GUI wallet (not bad for a 2 months old coin btw) https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1905086.0It looks like a promising fork such as AEON, maybe a good opportunity to hedge the portfolio, I own some And I can't wait to see some improvement on Kovri by XMR devs, best anonymous coin so far (and recent Alphabay situation proves it right) Btw on Sumokoin telegram (that you may find on their thread), XVG (Verge) developper came here and told that RingCT was a non-sense on not even working, what are you thinking abt that ? Anyway, hope XMR and his forks are gonna do great

And Verge's developers criticized Monero for saying that your technology was not anonymous. Apparently, Verge's only goal: to attract noobs and be recognized as aggressive and incompetent

If you look at any XMR blockexplorer you can easily see that it's working.

Not just mentioned: [...] MetaStable owns about a dozen different cryptocurrencies, [...] Monero (of which the fund holds nearly 1%, or about $6 million worth, of all outstanding coins), according to a pitch deck seen by Fortune.

This is not me to say but to the developers of VERGE! Ask them to show you the XMR richlist. Dammit, I just remembered I closed my long at .01659! W00ps agin. BTW, anyone that plays Texas Holdem will enjoy this. I sat with $200 at a 1-2 waiting on the 2-5 and ran it up to 5 and change then when I got to the 2-5 I ran that up to 3800. Next day went down to 900 !! next day got up to 2800 (still not touching anything but the original 200), next day ran up to 5400 and final day got cracked for 4500 in 45 minute!!! That friggin dealer just kept flopping me the world and then rivering me every time! He also gave a guy that sucked out on my for 1.5k pocket aces 3 hands straight! and the first 2 of those the guy hit SETs and I hit top 2 (AK + AJ) and the final one I flopped mid 2 and couldn't shake him and the board paired the river for the suckout. So I took off steaming after that last straw and when I got back he had pulled a chew and screw (good thing as I probably would have lost more to him the way he was running and me being a thick headed irishman never backs down). So all said and done I ended up 2200. Not bad considering the beating I took after going of the rails with that guy but as usual I didn't walk when I should have!

Has anyone ever tried to sync with the network at a speed of ~0.33mb/s? Bitcoin syncs fine, monero not so much, was wondering if it was just me?
I often use a slow connection that will not sync at all unless I run monerod with the "--block-sync-size 20" option. This worked great, it's syncing now. Thank you. Has anyone ever tried to sync with the network at a speed of ~0.33mb/s? Bitcoin syncs fine, monero not so much, was wondering if it was just me?
You can try https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/2149 which should be much friendlier on slow network. I'll try to try this next. I'm running from a throttled 3G hotspot, that had used up all its 4G data when I decided I was too lazy to put the blockchain on another drive and synced from scratch instead. Today it's hitting 0.21/0.22 mb/s, is about 19 days behind and has been syncing for about 15 minutes now, about 40 blocks for every 1 new block.

Any specific reason for the sudden jump in the XMR exchange rate earlier today? I have seen a lot of positive press the last days, but it still doesn't explain why the price jumped so suddenly. Some whale being in? Some news that I have missed?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.31160/\ Read the two most recent pages for what may be causing the price increase. My .02 is I think many people are starting to see the importance of fungibility (privacy is an effect of fungibility) after the AlphaBay, bitmixer.io, and btc-e shenannigans. Monero is the most fungible (and therefore private) coin.

Read back a few pages, big hedge fund bought in. Feds cannot do anything with monero wallet they seized and can't even figure out how much is in there yet they have all the btc, eth and zcrap.

Read back a few pages, big hedge fund bought in. Feds cannot do anything with monero wallet they seized and can't even figure out how much is in there yet they have all the btc, eth and zcrap. Which is not a Monero specific feature, they have the wallet password or they don't. That they can't figure out the balance without a password is a Monero specific feature. And a very important one if you don't want anyone giving you a visit with a five dollar wrench after paying for a few pizzas (which subsequently reveals your balance).
