The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

This is slightly off topic but relates to monero by decentralization and privacy so I give myself a licence to ask here.

Is there any ready fuctioning decentralized Internet available?

I found these.
https://blockstack.org/
https://maidsafe.net/

But they seem to be beta this and beta that and under of development. Ready not yet and so on.

So if I would like establish for example a site for monero where domain and data storage and such are decentralized the way that they cannot be taken down by TPTB, how can I do it? Is there tecnology available?

And such easy way that I do not has to fight with it for weeks. Like such that ordinary CLI GUI linux crypto oriented user can do it.

I'm not satisfied with the Monero clients. I would like to have something similar to Electrum

You can use the GUI with a remote node, which kind of results in the GUI acting as a light wallet. See:

https://moneroworld.com/#nodes

Thanks for the helpful post - I could definitely use the extra 30+GB Monero Blockchain space on my laptop for other things.

Would there be any security issues using the Moneroworld node with my wallet (I'm running Linux...)?

No, just some minor privacy trade offs. See:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/1134/is-it-safe-to-share-a-daemon-with-a-roommate/1137

"Pirate Bay Founder’s ‘Njalla’ Offers Anonymous Domain Registration" - Monero Accepted: Just recently the founder of the notorious torrent website the Pirate Bay launched a new privacy-centric domain registration service called ‘Njalla.’ This type of service has become a hot commodity lately as domain names are hard to obtain without providing identity details to the registrar. https://news.bitcoin.com/pirate-bay-founders-njalla-offers-anonymous-domain-registration-for-bitcoin/

Is there any reliable Monero wallet for Android which keeps the private key in your device?

Yes.  There is Monerujo.  Open source light wallet for android.

I use it.  I bought a Ledger Nano S and a Cryptosteel with it. Smiley

Do your own due diligence.

https://github.com/m2049r/xmrwallet/releases

To add, here is a link to the reddit announcement that has a link to the Google Play store for the app.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/71wysb/update_monerujo_beta_now_on_google_play_store/

Thank you both very much, will check for more details. Just a little bit afraid that it is just a public beta version added to Google Play very recently.

I can't get the gui to connect to a remote node.  This is the first time I'm trying to use the gui.  I've been using the CLI for a long time.
I have a VPS in Europe that I'm trying to connect to.  I know that it's running and synced because I just tried it with the cli.
So I open the gui and go to settings, type the daemon address and port.  Hit connect.
I don't see anything happening, so I click on Show Status.
A box pops up with the error message
error: couldn't connect to daemon: 127.0.0.1:18081
which as you can probably tell is not the address of my vps.
How do I get this to work?

I'm running into another type of trouble with the GUI as well... Is there someone who is familiar with the GUI help me out with a problem I'm having verifying a transaction? I created a new wallet for someone and there was a transaction going to that wallet and the wallet doesn't show the transaction arrived... but after looking at xmrchain.net and using the private view key it shows the transaction is there.

I tried rescanning the wallet balance, but it just tells me "Successfully rescanned spent outputs" without the transaction showing up.  I've also closed out of the wallet and reopened the wallet using the mnemonic seed and checking that the daemon is all the way synced up, plus try to verify the transaction using the address, tx id, and tx key to no avail... Am I doing something wrong here?

It's legit but they have a brutal 30% fee, it uses subpar javascript wasm miner that gets you 50% of the hashes a native miner can get. Check http://moneropools.com/ for real stratum pools where you can use native cpu miners as well as gpu.

What the fuck are you talking about knob?

Code:
<!-- jQuery -->
    <script src="vendor/jquery/jquery.min.js"></script>

    <!-- Bootstrap Core JavaScript -->
    <script src="vendor/bootstrap/js/bootstrap.min.js"></script>

    <!-- Plugin JavaScript -->

    <script src="js/contact_me.js"></script>

    <!-- Theme JavaScript -->

Tell me dickbrain, which one of these scripts "injects" anything?

Thanks for the reply, currently I am at 131k shares and now put it on 3 computers lol, so let's see in 61 hours when they say it spits a payment what I will get. Even if I mine a couple of bucks of MONERO a day I will be happy and just save it for long term holding. Who knows I might get a few referrals also who might wanna try it out so I can get more hashing power that way.  Grin

That's my site. I heard of a few people that it causes some AVs to go nuts about some random JS injection thing... I figured it was the $.get() I used, since it would allow XSS attacks if one of the pools apis would send malitious data. I replaced it with getJSON() weeks ago, but some AVs still complain. I wonder why...

What is the minimum payout?   I doubt you will get anything in less than a few weeks.

What is this Zeronet? Something like TOR? And how can it be used to increase the privacy of XMR?
