im not really looking to hold vrc for too long, i bought back in at 22k, we will steady growth here, other coins offer much better returns. my first buy was under 1000sats for vrc, im looking to use vrc rather than invest in it
It's not the return it's the tech. IMO- The ability to use BTC "As a Service" to make purchases rather than a "Trade" is unique and may change the rules... There are not many coins you can actually use as you say... Makes perfect sense as a contender due to it's precedent.

Exactly. You can't stop anyone else from doing it too. So they need to get the message out there hard and fast so that people associate that idea with them. They seem to be doing a good job so far of getting themselves out there, so I just hope it continues.
Actually a lot of Vericoins operations is not open source so it would take a very intelligent team to mimic what they have done. Even better. the vert coin guys want vericoin features integrated into theirs as well.. http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/29i4cl/lets_talk_about_the_future_of_vertcoin_and/

QUESTION for the longs:
Do you see VRC getting into the 3-5.00 range and why?
Warrenty + Utility = VALUE. Warrenty = Devs transparency and hard work meeting deadlines. Keep it lasting and alive so I can keep using it. Utility = all the features such as veribit, verisend all incorporated in a cetralized place such as the wallet. This coin will beat litecoin IMO. and yes I am ITIL certified.

This will be the first time anyone has purchased a crypto currency through a wallet.
A first that Bitcoin cannot even claim. Is there a doubt what the number 2 coin should be if you took out the names, market caps and hit the reset button today?
Would you put litecoin ahead of VRC?
Right now in terms of market cap a LTC is worth 29.39 times what VRC is worth in terms of its relevant value, not per unit value.
There is no reason LTC is worth that in comparison. I am not saying its a bad coin, i'm just saying that IMO VeriCoin offers more than other coins, including Bitcoin. Because now I can use VRC like a bitcoin, and even better, I have more ways to acquire it now. You don't experience 10% / year bitcoin deflation either. Heck if you keep your keep your wallet open you can gain interest with no expensive equipment.

snip (pool.vericoin.info), don't bother it's not worth it. Experimented by pointing a 1Th/s sha-256 miner at it for 24 hours and got $1.50 usd (5.63 vrc) worth of vericoin. snip
Yep I tried that too - 1Th Sha256 for 21 hours on the 27th/28th - totalled 33 VRC so far nowhere near as profitable - BTC mining woulda generated 0.0318 but I only got 33 VRC = 0.01425 @ 43k even at 55k its still only 0.01815 However there are still payments trickling in 3 days later - so results - not conclusive - but id be surprised if I get another 20+vrc I have noticed the same thing. Point my lowly rigs at the x11 for a couple of days and I have still been seeing tons of little transactions (and no it is not the stake). It has been a week later and still have some. Some clarification would be nice how it works

BUT I'm wondering why I ave not heard of it on all the Bitcoin Promoters on YouTube. DOGE had a great marketing campaign which got the word out. Maybe more than was warranted... Let's face it. LTC, PPC, NMC are dying as well as volume on BTC-e. The market is speaking and anon is listening. I do hope VRC continues it's innovative pace and continually updates it's anon features. IF they do there's no reason it cannot gain it's rightful market cap position. This is my analysis but want to see what else people think...

In case anyone is thinking about veripool (pool.vericoin.info), don't bother it's not worth it. Experimented by pointing a 1Th/s sha-256 miner at it for 24 hours and got $1.50 usd (5.63 vrc) worth of vericoin. Supposedly they mine an anonymous coin and then exchange it for vericoin and split it up in the pool. Whatever the multipool 256 coin was, I found 7 blocks of it, but the return sucked. Someone in another thread alleged that the pool operator may be skimming, so be warned. Your best bet is to just mine BTC (or whatever else) and then exchange for vericoin.
Also, yes, I know vericoin is a proof of stake coin, I just wanted to test the exchange pool to see what it was like.
I hope you have some kind of proof of your allegations. He'd need proof for the allegations if he himself was alleging this. He's just telling us what he heard on another thread. But to the core of his post, as he illustrated, is pretty correct. I've pointed about 25Mh/s Scrypt for almost a half a day and got proportionally, what he's describing. I've been on the pool for a week and have been getting pretty steady payouts. Beow is a screenshot of the payouts that I've received so far today. I'm currently mining scrypt at ~22 Mh/s. Ignore the 2532, 40, 535, and 830 deposits; everything else is from the VeriPool:

Instead of paying out every night, we pay out a portion of each block we hit and reserve a portion for the OBA. Instead of daily payouts, we pay out per block. But only if you've earned 1 VRC (sometimes it decides to be less lenient and will pay when 0.2 VRC is earned, for example). Then the payments trickle out over time as the OBA buys when it decides it's a good opportunity-- especially during dumps. So, If you want a really accurate number for profitability, it's not possible to give you one. But in my experience mining SHA-256 and SCRYPT for a day then stopping, I am getting at least 20% more than mining at TradeMyBit. It works oddly compared to conventional multipools, but that's how we can buy VRC at good prices.

IF they do there's no reason it cannot gain it's rightful market cap position. This is my analysis but want to see what else people think... Let's face it. For all intents and purposes, for at least the foreseeable future, Bitcoin will be king. This is due to infrastructure, and practical applications. Altcoins have been created for many reasons, most are pump n dump failures, but some attempt to innovate. Most altcoins are still largely useless in and of themselves. In order to make use of them, you have to transfer to an exchange, trade and whatever market might be, then go spend Bitcoin. Only a handful have any spendability beyond that. Vericoin is different in that one key aspect, it is immediately usable with less fuss. Less fuss also means a higher likelihood of large scale adoption. Also, with low inflation, there isn't likely to be massive constant sell pressure from miners dumping. The devs are visible, reachable, and active...and about as transparent as anything in crypto ever comes. It's not that Vericoin has a single key feature that makes me think it's a long term holder destined for LTC price levels, its the combination of everything into a near perfect storm. Litecoin often advertised itself as the silver to Bitcoin's gold. But it was largely due to just being biggest first. Vericoin can be used anywhere Bitcoin can...making it more a silver to gold than Litecoin ever was.

I mined on pool.vericoin.info for 27 hours 3 days ago and never received a payment. How does the pool work? Each time I checked on it, it would say I would have one share and then later check again and go back to 0 and this happened multiple times. Never went above one share. I was mining X11. I was mining at 14,000 Mh/s. My address was correct I doubled checked it and also simply copy and pasted it into the conf file so thats not the issue. My address is VP94abeifQ5KBhyymAXXtCEVB4E4doQwh4

There are a lot of questions regarding the pool. We've been tweaking it as it's still in Alpha right now many times and there have been a few bugs that we have fixed. So please-- if this is your income, don't use it.
It is, however, quite profitable over time. It operates differently than other multipools.
Cool, thanks for the taking the time to add more details about the pool. What you describe makes sense, but two suggestions for veripool. I understand now it's still in alpha, so no big whoop. 1) Transparency and an audit log... There's no reason to not list what coin is being mined in exchange to vrc. Understood it's dynamic and may change depending on what the profitable coin is at the moment. I would also suggest a global log showing what was traded for what and what was dived up. For all the miners know, the pool earned 500 xcoins, exchanged 400 for vrc, and kept 100 on the side. 2) Post a FAQ and some information on the site, especially that it's in alpha. Anyway, even though I didn't earn a lot, I'm still interested in vericoin. Good luck with the pool, at the least it was interesting to mess around with.

That's because our developers like to interact with the people and that's easiest done on IRC. We will try to do better. It might not hurt to explore IRC. Especially since that's our main channel of communication.

They are also updating their system to a new version so the integration on their end is not yet complete as of now.
