How can I run the Clam-qt Clam Wallet Client on a Raspberry Pi 3?
Thanks

I am currently running headless clamd on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.
The compilation was a bit challenge - mostly the Berkeley part - because the most valuable advices are written on the end of the manual :-). Don't try to install it on your own (like me), just blindly follow the instruction. And also there is missing one "make" command in the instruction. (There is one "make install", without previous "make")

Just I am not sure with the "qt" part.

Thanks for the reply regarding staking clams on rpi. That was going to be my next question staking with a headless setup.
Do you have any docs which would help me do this.
Thx

Hi, I followed the documentation in the Clam git:
https://github.com/nochowderforyou/clams/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md

I suggest you to start with the "Berkeley DB" part. (There is an missing line, you need to "make" before "make install").
Note: The building of all code takes a lot of time. You can speed up it with using more cores by "make -j4", but it increases CPU temperature a lot. (I forgot to order cooler when I ordered my raspberry so I had to run only on one core to prevent overheating :-D)
Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

If you setup the cross-compile build options in configure (or autogen) then you should be able to cross-compile for an arm9 using a beefier desktop that runs faster and won't overheat.  Raspberri pis are neat little low-power computers which are very useful and fun for many tasks, but I wouldn't set one up as my build rig.

Not too late.

I actually just turned up an old BTC wallet yesterday.  I dug them on just-dice.com.  But you can also just import your old btc addresses into the clam wallet.  Cheers!

wow Gru will wake up and find his 32,000 clam went up $16,000 overnight from price change

32,000 clam x $4.25 = $136,000 in 2 days

congrats bro

so he should get around 50 clam a day stake from clam wallet

50*30 1500 clam a month x $4.25 = $6,375 a month from staking

can live nice and not have to work at all just from selling staked clam.

and in the end still have 32,000 clam

Why clam is so cheap?
Melon prot is much more expencive than clams, but melon have more coins than clams.
Why that so?

Because it does not offer anything new?

I am quite new to the cryptocurrency world and have adopted CLAM as my favorite. So far I have staked 36 clam and can expect a reward in about 19 days. That is: If I have set up everything correctly. So far nothing happened and it would be so nice if 1 clam arrived in my client just to prove that everything works as intended.  Grin. Since I'm only 14 days in the/this loop I should be (a lot) more patient though.

So far thanks for all the tips and explanations I found in this thread.

Can anyone tell me if CLAM is actually accepted as a payment currency in any shop or site other than gambling?

Regards,
ScubaFuz

Note that every 16 seconds your wallet tries to stake, and has a random chance of being successful. You could manage to stake a block immediately, or it could take months. On average with 36 CLAMs staking you will stake a block about every 20 days I guess, but it's random. You could go 2 months without staking at all, then stake twice in one day.

Just don't be surprised if the reward doesn't come "in about 19 days". It could be much longer or much shorter than that.

Can anyone tell me if CLAM is actually accepted as a payment currency in any shop or site other than gambling?

I'm not sure. There were a couple of people accepting CLAMs.

I remember this one: https://cryptomercado.com/ -- he seems to still be accepting CLAMs for coffee and stuff.

Need some help... Google failed me (or perhaps I failed Google)...

I don't have any old wallet.dat files any longer. But I do have several clam-worthy Bitcoin addresses as well as their private keys. Is there a way for me to recreate the wallet.dat files in order to import them into Clam-Qt so that I can claim my allocated clams? Any advice/guidance/clues would be appreciated.

[Later append... I think I'm on the right track... Will post this in case it ever helps someone else:] So I downloaded a pre-HD version of "Multibit Classic"; then exported its private key to a "multibit.key" file; then text-edited that file with my actual clam-filled private key. I found this instruction on the clamclient.com site: "Place the '.key' file in the same folder as clam-qt.exe. Go to 'console' in clam-qt, type 'importwalletdump yourfilename.key'." (We'll see if this works for me. First, I'm waiting for the Clam-Qt client to finish importing the bootstrap.dat file, which could take awhile.)

@Randzzz:
I hope this works for you, but in case it doesn't: I entered my private key at freebitcoins.com (after I emptied that wallet) and got bitcoins in return for about the same value in a different wallet. Later I used those bitcoin to buy 5.5 CLAM  Grin when the exchange rates were more profitable.

@dooglus: I understand that my stake is relatively small and the possibility exists I never get a stake reward. That's why I need to be very patient. It's just that one stake would prove that my setup is correct and the system works. That's all. I'll just wait very (im)patiently.

No.

Sounds like you don't have any CLAMS.  Sorry!
