How can I run the Clam-qt Clam Wallet Client on a Raspberry Pi 3?
Thanks

I am currently running headless clamd on Raspberry Pi 3 Model B.
The compilation was a bit challenge - mostly the Berkeley part - because the most valuable advices are written on the end of the manual :-). Don't try to install it on your own (like me), just blindly follow the instruction. And also there is missing one "make" command in the instruction. (There is one "make install", without previous "make")

Just I am not sure with the "qt" part.

Can someone tell me how can I earn claims with my old bitcoin wallets?

Start by reading the Original Post.

it just says:
Quote
CLAIM FREE CLAMs

CLAIMING FREE CLAMs IS EASY!

Just click file -> import wallet!

i agree a more detailed explanation would be nice..

edit:

http://clamclient.com/learn/distribution/

http://clamclient.com/learn/import/

looks like you have to import bitcoin wallet.. distribution seems to be based on the number of non-dust addresses you controlled in 2014.. 4.6 CLAMs per address (non-dust) you controlled.. seems like a bizarre way to distribute an airdrop.

To whom it may concern:
I am preparing a book possibly an article dealing with cryptocurrency.
The topics will include a brief summary and description of the cryptocurrency market place as well as a look at the art work associated with the various logos.
Many of the currencies do not have any notes or guidelines for use of their logos.  Hence I am contacting the currencies I would like to include requesting permission to use their logo images as part of the material.
Please  indicate so in a reply to this email.

Hi Robert Erlandson, I'm not an expert in the matter of Copyright, but I think since Clam like many others coins is released as open source code and the logo is in many cases, part of the code too, I think then the license should give you the ability to use the logo with no problems specially for your noble research case, for example if you get ClamClient's source code you can find under the path clams/COPYING instructions about how Clam handle his Copyright statement, it basically says that you should give credit to the people that created the software.

Quote
Copyright (c) 2014 Clam Developers
Copyright (c) 2013-2014 NovaCoin Developers
Copyright (c) 2011-2012 PPCoin Developers
Copyright (c) 2009-2014 Bitcoin Developers

Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions:

The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software.

So I think you just need to add the quoted text above on your book or article and you will be covered by the Permission granted there. You can find the source code in the Clam's github and you can even check or visualize the files that I'm telling you in the github page without the need of downloading the source code i guess. Also in the source code, at this path clams/src/qt/res/icons/clam-128.png you can find the Clam logo with an acceptable quality.

I saw that you have posted the same request like 1 time before and maybe the answer was too simple to convince you, maybe a Dev can tell how right or wrong my point of view is and email you or allow me to email you. Also if things works like I explained before that will be good news for you because I have seen many wallets that are based in the same code so you will be able to check probably most of the Cryptocoins that you must be willing to add to your book or article, just looking to their source code and see what does their COPYING file or license file says, instead of waiting for a Dev to reply to you Cryptocoin by Cryptocoin.

if you need something leave me a message.

Do you have any docs which would help me do this.

That's the way all coins used to do it. BTC, LTC, and DOGE distribute all their coins to miners, and CLAM distributes all theirs to BTC, LTC, and DOGE holders.

The ideas of staging a massive ICO or having a huge premine to make the developers rich are more recent innovations.

Do you think ICO's are the future and mining & staking are 'past it'? Should we start investing in ICO's rather than staking or mining?

I don't know what you should be investing in. I think CLAMs distribution was a good attempt at a fair distribution but unfairly rewarded those who spread their coins out over the most addresses which is pretty arbitrary.

Having coins spread out over the most addresses is (apart from the CLAM distribution) finanically de-incentivized since you pay for each of those inputs when you try to spend something in the way of more-inputs->larger-transaction->larger-fees.  I also realize that you could have lots of inputs at the same "address" but having a value spread across many addresses means you're definitely going to have separate inputs for each when/if you try to spend them.

That's exactly my point. The CLAM distribution rewards the people who didn't respond to the incentives inherent in Bitcoin. At the time of the snapshot I had tens of thousands of addresses but all but 27 of them were empty since I kept the funds consolidated into a few unspent outputs.
