Yes, you can still claim Clams from old bitcoin wallets.

I did it this morning. Five of my addresses had BTC in May 2014 and at 4.60545574 Clams per address I now own 23.0272787 Clams

I haven't had access to my clams in months... My wallet hangs on synchronizing. Anyone know a way to help? I've tried updating my peers and trying the bootstrap. I've tried my wallet on another computer and that still dosent work either.

I'm having the same issue, it doesn't synchronize.

I restarted a local wallet 2 days ago!
I updloaded the boostrap.dat and now I'm behing 20 weeks, I think this night it will be sync.
So far from my end it looks ok but I'll update you later once it, and if, the process will be done!

3 days and 8 weeks behind with bootstrap

A correction made sense as clam's market cap was growing even more than bitcoin's on the last months. Anyway I bought more and I trust in the coin. I even used some of my BTC "untouchable" reserve to buy some more.

Long term, market cap should be stable in terms of BTC. It would grow if Just Dice was better known, some marketing would help.

Yes its amazing that such crappy UI can bring in users.  Just DIce looks like stock portfolio management app. If they manage to make it look like avarage Facebook game they will grab money by the shovel. And another thing that amazes me, why no PR. I mean its a wild west in here. But i cannot see splash in google or Facebook ads. If somebody manages to push for FB ads it will be like massive explosion in users.

I understand they want to remain relatively unknown to avoid legal issues (just as they stopped using BTC), but still Just Dice feels like it has way more potential in the cryptocoins world. Average wagered amount of CLAMS per day keeps dropping (which makes sense as CLAM value was rising in $).

What happened to Clams? According to CoinMarketCap the price dropped 50% in one day and there was a lot of trading. People wanting to get rid of their Clams? No fun now I just claimed mine.

this might have something to do with upcoming fork october 25th
converting to BTC to stake claim for forked coin (= easy money)
then probably will convert back to clams afterward

nope I guess it is more linked with price manipulation!

There were huge buy walls to artificially rise the price, than those walls disappeared and BOOM!

Some whale dropped a huge amount of coins on Polo. As a rough estimate 10% or more of the supply. He sold a ton between 80-60K too. Doesn't seem to make much sense.

nope I guess it is more linked with price manipulation!

Looking at the 5 min chart, it seems like his wall got eaten?

I do not think many actors here have enough liquidity for such operations.

I made an updated bootstrap.dat file for people having trouble syncing their client.

It goes up to block 1720900 which was staked on Sun Oct  8 23:57:52 UTC 2017.

It's available as a download here:

  bootstrap.dat

or as a torrent here:

  bootstrap.dat.torrent

Download it, put it into the same folder as your CLAM wallet.dat, then restart the client.

If you are using the QT client, it will say "importing blocks" in the lower left corner while the bootstrap.dat file is imported. That is how you can tell that the file is being used.

It will take a while to import it, but it will be a lot faster than trying to sync using the p2p network.

When it is done, the client will rename the file to bootstrap.dat.old and won't look at it again.

Once it has been renamed you can delete it if you like.

To verify that you have the right file:

Quote
$ sha256sum bootstrap.dat
2f075faafb0e7e08a61e79e95b9e5afcef8da8d217a737c1e4d3c4bbfc5b911b  bootstrap.dat

Edit: I also made a series of 'partial' bootstrap files. Each one contains the block data for 10,000 blocks.

  https://s3.amazonaws.com/dooglus/bootstrap-000.dat is blocks 0 through 9999
  https://s3.amazonaws.com/dooglus/bootstrap-001.dat is blocks 10000 through 19999
  https://s3.amazonaws.com/dooglus/bootstrap-002.dat is blocks 20000 through 29999
  etc.

I'll add a new one for each new set of 10k blocks. Currently they go up to bootstrap-171.dat

So if you already have everything up to block 492123 and want to get up to date, download the -049, -050, etc. files, append them all together in order into bootstrap.dat in the same folder as your CLAM wallet.dat and restart the client.

In Windows you can append the files together by running "cmd", and using something like:

Code:
copy /b bootstrap-*.dat bootstrap.dat

In Linux the command would be:

Code:
cat bootstrap-*.dat > bootstrap.dat

i copy bootstrap.dat to folder as your CLAM wallet.dat and replace name blk0001.dat or not ?

@boydatinh3107
What operating system are you using? You can download the complete dat-file, one at the time and then merge them into bootstrap.dat, or one at the time and rename them to bootstrap.dat.

@Timetwister
If you download the complete dat-file and specify
Code:
connect=0
in clam.conf file, it will read the transactions from the file instead of via the web. It will still take up to 10 hours or more to complete.

@Walker0118
You can only claim Clams for a wallet that had BTC, LTC, or DOGE in it on 2014-05-12. Before you import your private key in the clamclient software, make sure the wallet is empty. Same precautions as when claiming Bitcoin Cash.

Adding Clams back to my staking portfolio at these prices. I only wish I had more bitcoin available to spend.
