Where did the Clams I lost today go to?

I am sure you did not lost any clams trying to stake, this is for sure. I had been staking for years without problems. Before anything: Are you aware that after staking, your coins will be locked for a certain period of time, and in this time you cannot move them? Maybe you are not aware that when you send coins, they do not return to the original address but to a change address and you can be looking the balance of a wrong address?

Can you please use the command
Code:
getinfo
and sum the numbers in "balance" and "stake" after and before a stake, and see if the balance really just adds 1 to the total? This way, we can be sure the stake really works in your wallet
Well here's a screenshot to prove it:

When I click on the question marks it says 'conflicted'.  The Clams disapeared from the dashboard as well and get substracted from my balance.

My wallet was split in over 750 addresses with less than 50 clams on each for staking purposes.  When a Clam disapeared (conflicted) I got the stake back.  But that's not the issue, the issue is I lose Clams.

It is not lost it has been rejected by the network and that block you mined has not been included in the blockchain

Ok so 1/3 of the clams I find get rejected, how fun is that?  So the code signals I should find about 24 a day, but 1/3 of them get rejected.  Are you saying this is working as intended?

It is how the blockchain works, even POW coins like bitcoin or ethereum, can produce orphan blocks, like it happens here.
The issue is if you get JUST orphan blocks, while ago I was staking clams and for a couple of days I got just orphan blocks, that was an issue, but if you get 1 or 2 out of 20, I don't see any issue.

By the way it is good to have another big player staking this coin, 20 coins a day is a nice result, not big as just-dice, but better than nothing, please do not give up, the coin is cool, and it needs more decentralization

Agree, the purpose of a blockchain is to increase decentralization so Clams would benefit in that sense.

Between 3 and 8 Clams get rejected per day on average out of the 24 though, so on some days I get 16.  I can't justify the investment if that's the case.

I want to get out and get the money back and move on at this point.

I've got two different computers that cannot sync up - bootstrap needs updating or there needs to be a new client. One's stuck at 25 weeks back for days, the other is stuck at 30 weeks back for days.

Thank you for your interest, someone here in the Clam community already made an offer by PM to buy the lot though, about 28-29k Clams in total.  If the person bails out you'll be 2nd in line.  I'll know tomorrow.

That's an excellent explanation and some good tips on top.  It's a bit like David versus Goliath isn't it?  Although in this case it won't be David that wins (or that gets his Clams to put it in context), we're just way too small, we can't compete with that.

Cheers

I respectfully disagree... CLAM would already be decentralized and your stuff would stake as expected if these fucking shitcoin exchanges would stake their coins.

When a CLAM stakes... it's frozen for 500 minutes and that is just too much for Poloniex sweethearts to delay customer withdraws like that! (Mind you it just took over 40 days for me to get a withdraw of 1000 clams from Fuckiex)

CLAM is a good investment because it isn't perfect.  She absolutely needs improvement, but IMO that is what to look for as far as something "with potential".

People are intimidated by Just-Dice because she's a fucking whale.  Like people out of respect for JD and such avoid using CLAM (which is EXTREMELY silly IMO... the more the merry, but have your website shit setup right because people that bust your balls will see you.)

CLAM investors make their money when JD goes from 80% to 20%... not from 20% to 80%.  JD currently holds 42.65% of the CLAM O/S and rising steadily.

CLAMS is too small to want to cap Just-dice because it would hurt the whole ecosystem eliminating JD investors buying power vs 1 persons staking power (well really all of our staking power outside JD... FreeBitcoins.com doesn't hold all of our CLAMS on JD.

we're just way too small

We are EXTREMELY small.  You own 1% of this whole thing right now with only 30,000 ish CLAMS.  Tongue

Come over to the dark side for a little bit (invest/stake at JD) while the Clammunity sorts out these other loose CLAMS in exchanges that refuse to do what's "right".

That gif made my day haha.

So out of interest, how much Clams/day would I get if I were to join the dark side with those 30k Clams.  Do you have an idea, approx.?

You don't need 750 addresses to split coins, enough  one address splited in  750 inputs.
By the way my orphans make up about 10%( 10 rejected from last 100 staked)

Whoever sold many CLAMS had to be really desperate. Although my coins are cheaper now I'm happy of having been able to buy some more. I'm here long term.

Ok I'm out and special thanks to the good sir who bought the lot.

Good luck to the Clam community and maybe one day our paths will cross again, who knows.  In the meantime I wish you all the best.

Peace out.

I thought that ALL bitcoin addresses with a positive balance on 12.05.2014 were awarded Clams on the initial distribution.

But there is this address 1Q7CLPAV6Xu1MkqiYdmKBNPrZPU9bZSBHX which HAD a positive Bitcoin balance on 12.05.2014 (a date of Clams distribution) but nevertheless has NOT been awarded Clams.

Just-Dice.com webpage gives their standard response for a new address:
Quote
INFO: BTC address [1Q7CLPAV] was not funded on 12th May 2014; [xXQqEFzx] is the corresponding CLAM address; see [history:1Q7CLPAV] for a history of its balance

I wonder what was the reason that the address in question was NOT awarded Clams. Was it a bug?

Also, I wonder why the JD webpage repeats the bug by saying the address was not funded(?)

FreeBitcoins doesn't think that your address qualifies for CLAMS either:

It isn't on the CLAM explore either:

But this is exactly my question! Why is it not on the CLAM explorer?

If you look at https://www.blockchain.com/pl/btc/address/1Q7CLPAV6Xu1MkqiYdmKBNPrZPU9bZSBHX
it isn't hard to see (there are only 3 transactions to sort through) that the balance was positive on 12.05.2014.

The official wallet obviously would show 0.0 clams, how can it be any different than the CLAM blockchain directly read via khashier.com and 2 other services?

The question of ownership here is irrelevant, we would be speaking about ~4.6 clams worth 12USD anyway.

If I am right, this would be the address that SHOULD be funded but was ommitted.

The right questions to ask are:
1. Why the address in question was excluded?
2. Is it the first known case or rather is it known that it happened in the past too?
3. How many other addresses like there are there in total?
and not: is it your 12USD that is missing Smiley
