If anyone has a seed node (just any node on the network with a static IP and high uptime) let me know and I'll add it to my repo for anyone wants to continue to use this coin.
I don't intend to do new development but I will maintain the code with critical bug fixes from upstream.
Cool and thanks. Are you from Monero?

Yes I'm doing this as a goodwill gesture to the users who want to continue to use this alternative version of Monero. I think it was rather silly and a little inconsiderate for the original dev to pick up and leave like that when it is certainly possible to do at least minimum maintenance for very little money.

Unfortunately, I still haven't found even a single AEON node. If I can't then the coin really is dead.

So...there is a bit of activity in the market. A few buyers around, but, ....

All I was saying is it takes more than just keeping a coin alive, and I was prepared to do my part in a concerted effort, but smooth is with out doubt light years ahead of me, so it is a big plus he is helping.

CryptoNote coins have been through a bit of a pounding in the last little while, so it would be great to see this happen

Everyone is invited to contribute!

The only way this coin stays alive without someone investing money into it (which apparently didn't work) is the community pulling together.

For example, I could use someone to build Windows and Mac binaries. Not really my thing (I'm 100% Linux).

Agree. Enough infighting!

Still waiting for a node, any node...

node 178.62.9.75

Not accessible. You need to open/forward/unblock port 11180 on your router/firewall/etc.

In simple terms, this means, has anyone been mining consistently for the last while and can help smooth by letting him access your node. I think

Thank you to gpools who has provided me with access to a working node!

Once I finish testing I will push the updated version to github. Mere-mortal has volunteered to provide binaries.

At that time I will open a new thread and move the conversation over there so we can have access to the OP for current links and info.

Good to see that community is taking over.

There was no offer made yet, so we had to shut down the seed node to prevent additional costs.

Once community decides who will lead the development we're willing to give github access as well as other resources. It would be nice though, to get back at least part of money we invested. Partner negotiations for backing up the coin wasn't successful for us, but we hope that community will find ways how to push value of this coin up.

Good luck!

Seems its already going up!

I don't mind taking over your github if you want to PM me the info. I have been working in my own fork and planning to announce that as the recommended code but I will pull that back to the original github if you pass it on to me.

I would also appreciate if you would turn over the 'aeon' bitcointalk user so we can edit the OP on this thread. Otherwise we will need to declare this this thread close and start a new one (it which case it would be helpful if you could lock it once we do that).

lol... surreal...  Grin (how much is worth a dead coin ?)
It would be good if it was possible to get part of the money I spent on electricity mining it (so I hope the community takeover will also pay for this...  Grin

On that IP I saw that port TCP 14141 was open, but even if I assumed it was running aeond I wasn't able to get my aeond to use it with the commands:

--add-peer IP:PORT
--seed-node IP:PORT

It would still try and connect to the default port. Any ideas, I pinged you on IRC.

I think I had the wrong idea about you smooth, thought you were just in it to make a quick buck not really caring about the future of crypto. The fud and trolling around here makes it easy to misread posters motivations. I'm very happy I was wrong since you seem like a talented developer. Good luck with XMR and AEON. I was just coming by to see what was pumping the AEON price, good to see it's a community building around a coin to save it, and really surprised it's Smooth that's heading the effort which is a good sign for AEON's future. Good luck guys

It is not necessary that you abandon the coin if a new dev takes over. You have the experience of originating the coin, maybe switch from main dev to part time junior dev. If you still own aeon and want the price to increase it would benefit if you remained as advisor to whoever is responsible.
