I've heard that Poloniex is allowing withdrawals even thought they don't have trading, so they're still running a wallet. I've tried contacting them to make sure they get their wallet updated. If anyone else is in contact with them, please pass the message along as well. I can be reached here or freenode #aeoncoin or pm on either if they have any questions.

Hey, I'm reading the back comments, and trying to catch up on this.

Smooth, can you help explain the need for this clone?  Does it do anything different than Monero?  It even seems to still have all the limitations of Monero: no database yet, no GUI.

As Adam Back has said, every cryptocurrency needs a reason for existing, but making people rich is not a valid reason.  Or is the reason to own the first of the inevitable cryptonote clonecoins?

Account is back under control of the real AmericanPegasus.

To do experimental things or differently-targeting things that don't make sense on something as already-successful as Monero.

That was arguably the original purpose of altcoins, before it became the clonecoin pump-and-dump shitsstorm.

As for first of cryptonote clonecoins, it's much too late for that. http://mapofcoins.com/bytecoin

I have mixed feelings, especially after the awful glut of clonecoins we got with basic blockchain technology, but you make some very sensical points.

I just registered /r/aeoncoin, and you are welcome to it if you want it.  /r/aeon is private, and I wasn't sure if that was the future intended Reddit.

Also, speaking of doing things new, have you seen the ZeroTime protocol that this new VanillaCoin is using?  I'm not pumping VanillaCoin, it appears to have some strange FUD surrounding it's launch and at least one very salty user.  I discovered the concept last night and am trying to read more on it, but it sounds very interesting.

I'm not sure what the implications are for privacy though.

Thank you for doing that. I've had a few people volunteer to run social media so I'll pass that information along.

The previous developer turned over a collection of assets, but that did not include /r/aeon, so I think that is not related.

Google reveals a glut of ANN and discussion topics.  This seems to be the main one.

This thread was linked on the Monero subreddit, so we probably have some new readers currently. Anyway, AEON currently isn't traded on an exchange. However, there is a moderated OTC thread managed by a reputable member -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1068691.0

Zerotime gives you the possibility te respend your Vanillacoin within 8 seconds, without the use of masternodes and without the chance of double spending. Vanilla has 1 confirmation now on poloniex, just like bitcoin, but with zero confirmation it will be very usefull for merchants and unique in the world of crypto.

Aeon i'm not familiar with, could you tell me why poloniex don't have Aeon anymore on their exhange? And what are important features? How many coins are mined now?

Okay that's interesting, I will have to check it out. Is it open source?

Poloniex deactivated AEON when the previous developer stopped working on it and interest in the coin waned. Hopefully they'll put it back soon, but for now Bitrrex supports it.

The roadmap is here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=641696.msg11206824#msg11206824

Items 1 and 2 are done, and the hard fork will go live next week. 2.1 and 3 are in development.

The coin supply right now is about 7.9 million.

It's a scam shitcoin like shadowcash.

fast-pow-to-pos = run away.

Okay I agree with that part, but if it is open source and there is any merit in this ZeroTime thing then I'm willing to look at it. I have no problem with adopting or adapting good ideas, where ever they come from.

1. Mobile-friendly PoW (CryptoNight Lite). The current PoW is not ideal for smaller devices because the 2MB scratchpad is too large for the cache size on most mobile and lower-end desktop/laptop CPUs. A tweak to use a 1 MB scratchpad would allow it to run efficiently on lower end CPUs including some mobile processors as well as much better performance on mainstream desktops/laptops. Credit for this idea goes to the Louisd'or project (crypto_zoidberg and doe1138), although they didn't clearly explain the benefits of it.

Feels strange to me. Why sacrifice original CryptoNight?
We are going to very strong ARMs now, with lots of fast cache, look at MediaTek, look at Apple A7/A8, look at AMD servers with arms, pretty good performance for an original CryptoNight. I got your idea, but i think in that case "light" cryptonight will be less secure.
