In our case, roughly 1/3 of the hash power is on MoneroMooo's pool, and at times that has been >50%.
And it is now rising again, and close to 50%. Some may want to consider solo mining, or pool mining on http://52.8.47.33:8080/ - not all of you though .

Leave MonerMooo with a nice chunk, he's a good supporter of the project, but not such a nice chunk! Good reminder to try out the new --donate feature from the github master. Has anyone tried it? Any reports.

Looks like very promising coin. I am now trying to download blockchain on my notebook (Win 7 64) and preparing to start it on my VPS with Ubuntu 14.04.

See OP. It is traded on Bittrex and there is an organized OTC thread (though the later doesn't get much activity any more).

This coin still alive after more then a year must be legit... It almost died but for whatever reason this little coin had and has a really strong community behind it. They kept it going, reached out to ask me for help when the seed nodes stopped working, kept after me to take it over, and have been donating generously to support future development. This likely honey badger of a cryptonote clone fought hard and has now earned a life of its own. It's no longer just a clone with several unique features and more to come.

smooth has deep knowledge of the cryptonote protocol better than the current bytecoin devs as far as I can see, he always answer technical question and his work on AEON so far is very good, everyone can see that, Monero has many contributors, I don't give 2 piconero what insults trolls come up with and its not working, just read the ammount of new people posting here, but fighting trolls is useless so please ignore them as they have an agenda.

Yes it is in the first post of this thread (search for the word bootstrap). They are community-provided so I can't personally vouch for them being correct, but no problems have been reported.

Is this a fork of bytecoin? How come it's not traded on Poloniex?
Also why would you pick this over monero or even bytecoin?

Is this a fork of bytecoin? Not directly. It is a fork of Monero, as stated in the OP. Monero is, in turn, a fork of Bytecoin (technically a fork of Bitmonero which was a fork of Bytecoin) How come it's not traded on Poloniex? Interest in the coin waned for a while when the original developer quit. Volume dwindled and Poloniex delisted it. They still have it in their system, have a wallet running, and people are able to hold coins there and withdraw, but not trade. Perhaps if there is sufficient interest from the community they will reactivate trading. Perhaps you could send them a polite note asking for this. In the meantime, for trading please visit Bittrex or the OTC thread. Also why would you pick this over monero or even bytecoin?
Bytecoin has its own issues, that make it a good idea to stay away from. See here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=740112.0As for Monero, the main difference is that this coin is more experimental and pursuing a particular focus on mobile and lower-power mainstream systems. On the other hand, Monero is a larger project with a much larger team, more people working on it and its own set of goals. See here: https://getmonero.org/design-goalsPersonally I like both, but different strokes for different folks, ya know?

Looks like AEON is becoming more and more interesting. No matter how many trolls appear in this thread I think current dev and team around the coin is able to keep very high quality and constant progress of fixing and enhancing this cool crypto currency.
While I was huge supporter of this coin since very beginning I must say that at some point I didn't believe it will survive and sold quite a lot of coins, but my trust returned and I am investing again, gathering nice stash which as I hope will become much more expensive soon.
In comparison to Monero AEON looks to me as more independent twin that can afford to change things easily without too much hassle. And I like that. I also like donation fund that keeps a large sum of coins and can potentially help to eliminate speculation as well as provide resources for developers and support team.
I wish you luck AEON and many thanks to people who made this possible, original dev, new one and community of supporters. Keep this progress going on and don't worry about attacks from BCN/XMR. These are all amazing coins, but community around them is a bit strange.
Thanks again, good work!

I agree. Indeed this coin had a working GUI wallet at one time, based on https://github.com/BitKoot/CryptoNoteWalletPerhaps some day we will rise from the ashes.
