I'm not sure what's going on with the new 1.6.3 version but I've just upgraded and as soon as you start mining it throws out this, never to reconnect, making it unusable Undecided
Code:
[07/10/2011 17:39:39] Phoenix v1.6.3 starting...
[07/10/2011 17:39:40] Connected to server
[07/10/2011 17:39:40] Currently on block: 148444
[07/10/2011 17:39:40] Disconnected from server
[07/10/2011 17:39:45] Result: 4d183fe6 accepted
[07/10/2011 17:39:51] Result: 5c8a01ea accepted
[07/10/2011 17:39:52] Warning: work queue empty, miner is idle
[07/10/2011 17:39:53] Connected to server
[07/10/2011 17:39:53] Disconnected from server
[07/10/2011 17:40:05] Warning: work queue empty, miner is idle

I have download the 1.6.3 build and run it on windows 7 and have encountered the same error...   Huh

I'm having the exact same problem with 1.6.3 on Linux/Debian/Wheezy; it works for a brief time, but then idles forever. I also get the strange disconnect messages immediately following connect messages.

Phoenix 1.6.2 is, and has been, working perfectly for a while.

Version 1.6.4 has been released which fixes the connect/disconnect issue.

Not sure if its a problem with 1.6.4 or PSJ, but rejected shares are extremely high and phoenix doesn't seem to reconnect to a server though idle miner notifications are lower then 1.6.2

so far 1.6.4 fixes the hanging idle miner problem, also getting low rejection, will report back in a day or two.  Grin

PS: getting two disconnection/miner is idle message(sapphire ati radeon hd 6850/bitcoins.lc)

PS: getting disconnection/miner idle message more frequently now, but never goes down to 0 hash/s, will report later.

PS:  getting alot disconnection/miner idle message, went down to 0 hash/s and stayed there, going back to 1.6.2

one problem that 1.6.4 has is that the hash rate goes to zero/miner is idle and stays there until I come in and restart phoenix, 1.6.2 has that problem too but rarely.

I'd be happy to add a couple of Bitcoins to that bounty if these fixes could get pushed, Phoenix is pretty much useless in its current state.
Having to run r111 files from the old svn until things get sorted out.

Version 1.7.0 has been released.

Changelog:
- RPC no longer uses buggy twisted.web 3420 fix. It has been rewritten to use HTTPlib instead. (this will fix idle/disconnect problems)
- Fixed a bug in the compiled Windows binaries that made getting/sending work take much longer than it should. (this was a major cause of stale shares on block change)
- Removed ATI-only restriction on phatk and phatk2. This was originally put in place because of errors when BFI_INT was disabled. This has since been fixed.

Thanks for still working on this! 1.7.0 seems to haver some major bugs however; it keeps disconnecting/reconnecting/idling and also throws out error messages like this:

What exactly are you connecting to? I tested the compiled exe for 1.7.0 against several pools and a local bitcoind, and didn't see this problem.

This is what I get with the compiled 1.7.0 exe: (with -v enabled)

Thanks for the update.

I get similar as TeaRex results with an unmodified version of 1.7.0:

My command line was:
Code:
./phoenix.py -u http://<user>:<pass>@<pool>/;askrate=0 -v -k poclbm PLATFORM=1 DEVICE=0 BFI_INT=False FASTLOOP=True AGGRESSION=5 WORKSIZE=256

Using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and a Geforce 240 graphic card (yea, I know it's way outdated for this)

I also noted that the reject rate is way higher with this version then with the 1.6.2 I normally use. With 1.6.2 I barely get rejects and when it does it is normally close to a long poll.

Looking closer to my output, I see that it has a strange error in there as well (at 11:09:12, 11:19:55 and 11:33:01) among others. It appears that it comes when I get a rejected result from pool.

Other things noted are that the 'New Block' output isn't always together with the 'LP: New work pushed' output.
Is it so that a new block can come without a previous long poll, or isn't the LP an indication of a new block every time (when LP is active that is)?

Cheers,
