I'm going to agree with Steve 100%.
After a long and hard think since my first post, I have decided to put my money where my mouth is and have sold all my stake in XEM.
I have reinvested that stake in Ethereum which see no end in sight to its valuation.
It continues to climb 15-25% daily.

I have been a long time investor in XEM, but the lack of updates has really forced the issue.
I will move on to another forum but will keep a close eye on developments.
Time will tell if this move pays off.

Pls.
newbie account. 1st post saying Ethereum is skyrocketing.
2nd post saying you are top 50 Nem holder (account number ? ,its empty now right)
3rd post Sold all and bought ether

I try to be as neutral as possible in my post. However I do find that any type of negative post is responded with defensive criticism.
How about posting information relevant to facts on projects/updates rather than personal attacks?
BTW - I already alluded to the fact that i'm a newbie and that my first post was a few days ago so nothing was relevant in your post.

Because no one will take a newbie account seriously. Do you really expect anyone to believe you were a top 50 Nem holder and that was you first 3 posts here ever?

"However I do find that any type of negative post is responded with defensive criticism." How would you know this if you only joined yesterday.? . Ether dropping btw. Sell and buy back asap Smiley

"How would you know this if you only joined yesterday.? "
I do not need to join in order to read this thread, this is a public thread FYI.
I'm a long time lurker, 3 year infact. The only reason i created the account was to start a conversation.
All i got was sticks and stones from the same people.
If you don't have any informative information about Xem, then please do not quote me.
The back and forth is just a waste of time, and im not interested in time wasting.
I'm not interested in talking about ether either, but to counter your point its +10% in 24hrs.

Please compare the 3 interesting graphs of LTC, Ripple, and ETH.
Focus on maximum market caps of them.
All are 7XX Million dollars.
And their term gaps are 1 year or so.
 (LTC maximum : Dec 2 2013.
  Ripple maximum : Dec 22 2014.
  ETH maximum : Mar 4 2016.)
My crystal ball foretells XEM market cap will be 7XX Million dollars in May 2017. Grin

Most long time investors know that NEM does ninja releases, unlike some other projects that tend to exaggerate and pump.
So far the unexpected news has always been good news. Keep in mind Aesop's fable of the Tortoise and the Hare.
The progress my appear slow, but each deliberate and incremental step is building solid growth.

NEM did have the best distribution of any Alt IPO. Unfortunately, I just don't see the Alt market going anywhere. Everyone is looking at Bitcoin and features like Rootstock will make many Alts useless. A business isn't going to integrate with an Alt when they can integrate with the largest Blockchain ecosystem (Bitcoin).  Right now, companies don't even know what to do with Blockchain, by the time they do, Bitcoin will have the features ready. Most people won't have the stomach for Alts beyond speculation. The only Alts that will survive (in my opinion) will be those that can directly interact with Bitcoin.  It sucks, but the Alt coin boom is over and dead.

On the contrary, the boom is imminent. We are at the beginning phase of Blockchain technology.

Blue - successive groups of banks/companies/consumers adopting blockchain tech.
Yellow - market share will eventually reach a saturation level.

According to Juniper the BTC forecast is a little cloudy.

My forecast for NEM: Warming trend and clear skies through 2016.  Grin

Less than 5 years for mass adoption post-V1?

I don't think Blockchain will survive, after 5 years, unless it is mass adopted or corporations embrace private chains like Mijin and use public chains like XEM as a medium between their businesses.  KimNG is prophetic, V1 will probably reach xxM market cap as XEM is currently around 6M.

I like their optimism! Anyway, we are halfway to a xxM market cap.

That's the growth I'd like to see. Next year? That would be great, but if it takes a few more years, I'm ok with that too!
If they did it, what is preventing us from doing the same? It's initial conditions, variables and timing.
The platform is being built. Everything is falling into place. You can see it materializing.

Recent News Roundup #7

It has admittedly been way too long since Roundup 6. Lots of things that have happened since then are getting skipped over but here are a few highlights.

Mobile apps will be launched as soon as we have translators and enough testers testing for bugs.  Please help us test and give feedback.  https://forum.nem.io/t/nem-mobile-app-open-beta-and-5000-xem-bug-bounty/1825/26

We have people working on Japanese, Chinese, German, Spanish, Russian, Polish, and Portuguese.  If you would like to help translate into your native tongue, please send me a message.  I guess it takes about 1-1.5 hours for each Android and iOS and is made super easy via a Google docs sheet made by Mixmaster.

Work continues to be done on Lightwallet.  Hopefully it will be improved in the future.

Here is some very interesting news..... Devs are working on a secret project code named Catapult.  Code being contributed to it is on a private repository.  No more information at this time.

Work promoting and marketing NEM is still active in Japan by Makoto, Lon, and the Mijin team.  Announcements will be made when contracts are signed, not before.

Ronel, the main marketer and leader of the Chinese community has made some progress with BTC38 with the recent promotion and activity has picked up on that exchange.  A first time we saw movement from China.  We hope that they might consider us for CNY <-> XEM if our volume and marketcap stays up.

Supernodes underwent its second update.  No ETA on paid launch, but we are having some discussions on it and the nodes and network seem to be performing well.  http://supernodes.nem.io/

Webpage is still being worked on by Saul.  Yes, we know it isn't as good as other platforms webpages and it really needs to be updated.  New webpage will at least have an about section on the front page highlighting NEM's features as requested by others.  It will also have content being maintained via google docs so it will be much easier to translate and update. We are looking for people to help build a news section and NEM dev/business section. Please message me if you are interested in either coding or designing the template.

Tony has made pretty good progress with a branding guideline.  It is a definite improvement on our old one.

General road map for NEM is as follows.

0. fast loading
1. account metadata
2a. asset exchange
2b. contracts

Devs are still discussing if 2a or 2b should go first. Some might ask why the devs are working on "fast loading" first and not other things like smart contracts.  The reason is everything else that is added needs to be able to scale.  There is a long term game plan in action.  This is not meant to be a proof of concept.

Crypto Apex has released screen shots of their demo that is undergoing some limited testing.  It is an in wallet BTC <-> XEM exchange and also Fiat <-> XEM.

Great news for NEM! Myanmar has so much make good economically without established economical structures, so a crypto coin like XEM could make a deep impact and help the country to catch up with the booming Asian countries around.

Unfortunately,  that's been the developer's attitude since the very beginning.
Don't even try to touch their Nem toy...  It's already perfect,  nothing you will say or suggest will dmake it any better. According to them at least...
Its a bit of shame, I know.
But don't even try to fight for that.  It's a waste of time.

Excellent news.  There is a lot of NEM news but most of it is posted in Japanese and it does not get translated and shared here.  I think if marketing shared and translated all the news on NEM blockchain, including Tech Bureau and Infoteria, then NEM would see 5%-20% increase everyday.

I generally agree with you.  Every few days there is a major story about NEM related project in a major news out source in Japan.  If it was translated it would lead to a huge marketcap growth for speculators.  The thing is, this project isn't being built to make speculators happy and we definitely don't want a huge pump and dump group taking advantage of the hard work that is being done, twisting it, and letting things get out of control for their short term profit gains.  I'm sure that stance is definitely not the best marketing strategy, but it is a fair one.

Our core team has always been honest, never pumped XEM or faked volume, made up stories, or misused funds.  I'm really not sure how many other platforms can say that.

As I mentioned in the post above for Recent News Roundup #7, NEM devs are taking their time and looking towards the road map carefully.  A big focus has been put on to scaling NEM from the start.  As Bitcoin major players sit at round tables knock heads and fight on how to make Bitcoin go from 4 tx/s to 8 tx/s and can't find a solution, we can now see how important this is.  Please read Brian Armstrong's post out today about his frustrations over trying to push scaling.  https://medium.com/@barmstrong/what-happened-at-the-satoshi-roundtable-6c11a10d8cdf#.68pt7bpzy
