This coin just cannot catch a break. Everytime the overall marketcap takes a dump, nem sheds more sats. It just can't seem to gain any ground with the market being the way it is. It's pretty disappointing. I know many of the others are losing ground as well, but nem is the only one outside the top 10 and down at #15 now.
Oh, it gets better. Usually, when BTC runs hard XEM takes big ratio hits and even loses fiat value. It's lots of fun. The only "saving grace" right now is that we may be hovering just above what seemed to be a fiat floor previously of around $0.16 - $0.18 so we might not have much further to fall. If BTC really is going to break the previous ATH, every alt will suffer really hard. Right now it´s pretty stable at around 3000-3500 sats

Unfortunately, the community has suffered greatly from the hacker theft of coins and this has affected the price + the market is falling very much and the coin will be very difficult to regain its former positions

How long have you been following the crypto markets? The downturn is around on par with the previous downturns. It may last anywhere from 6 months to 2+ years. If you don't think you can hold through that period, perhaps crypto isn't the right asset class for you. If you can hold through that period, it may be worth considering a small allocation to crypto. This isn't specific to NEM.

The market doesn't care about your personal needs and motivations, sorry. If you get into crypto thinking you can make huge profits, it doesn't mean the market needs to respect that. Which is why, try and be selective with your picks and hold through the rough times if the crypto will come out stronger on the other end. Otherwise, find a different asset class that doesn't have such high volatility.

... Also, if you haven't already - sign up with myCoinvest. This is another great project built on NEM, and has a great team. Right now you can participate in airdrop and other tasks to earn free CVZT. And the ICO will be launching in June, I believe. Do you have, leoinker (or anybody else) some further experiences with VezCoin airdrop and VezCoin in general ? I observed their pages and sign-up/airdrop requirements, and : * sign-up / login works "just a half way" ; * do I understand well, that for airdrop I need download some mobile apps (or iCloud apps even worse), join the Telegram and so on ? Jeez, why this cannot be done over the "normal PC/Inet way" ? (My reasons are simple : I have almost 100% trust in my own self-compiled and self-supervised Linux desktop [servers as well], on the other hand I have very small trust in any Android or Apple or any other mobile device). * I looked into their forum on their pages, but there are just a few "Hello world" kind of topics, several days old, with minimum views. No topics about airdrop or user help and so on. In general, I'll probably will not participate on this ICO/airdrop, at it looks not-so-much-professional and a-little-bit-dead to me (to be honest: the same as lot of projects and ICOs not just on NEM platform). Of course I can be wrong and this decision (to not participate) could be the worst in my life. Well, it's life

For anyone experiencing exchange issues with XEM, it may be worth looking into getting a Bittrex account.
Had perfect withdrawels recently there, not sure about deposits, but they seem to have their stuff in order.

Thanks for the link of the story, I'm just guessing, if it is a good message / bad message / important message / non-important message for the NEM foundation and whole the NEM ecosystem ? But probably it's a good news, as market reacts now (NEM grows little bit better than BTC / other cryptos ... even if it could be just few-hours-temporary, as it was several times in the past).

"Dear NEM Community,
We wanted to share today that Lon Wong and Jeff McDonald will be moving from their positions on the NEM.io Foundation and shifting to advisory roles. Kristof Van de Reck has been elected as the interim President of the NEM.io Foundation.
With the early phase of the Catapult private beta release safely underway, Lon and Jeff plan to now focus on NEM’s business partners. These startups and consultants are needed to implement NEM applications worldwide. The NEM ecosystem is thriving and by moving to advisory roles, Lon and Jeff can dedicate more time to developing strong system integrators - a critically underserved piece of NEM’s ecosystem.
On behalf of the NEM.io Foundation we want to share our gratitude for the invaluable contributions of Lon and Jeff. Thanks to their leadership the NEM.io Foundation has built an amazing list of accomplishments and has a bright future ahead.
Our key developers, business partners, and management team are 100% committed to NEM’s success. NEM is leading the industry in terms of proven blockchain business use cases and there’s a lot of good news coming.
Please extend a warm thank you to Lon and Jeff, and congratulations to Kristof! We plan to release more updates and a statement from Kristof in the coming days.
You can read Lon Wong's full letter here. You can read Jeff McDonald's full letter here.
Thank you,
Takao Asayama Albert Castellana Ken Chan Stephen Chia Shiteng Li Niko Mäenpää Nelson Valero Kristof Van de Reck"

What's technology behind this project, Is it an ERC Token?
You know, you could go to the very first post of this thread, and you could easily find such a basic information. Just look at the section "What is NEM?". You could also visit NEM's website or generally try to do your own research with google. It's not that hard, really

I wonder if this is related to the hack in any way, like when politicians cite 'family reasons' as the reason why they quit were dumped. I honestly don't know enough back story to judge if this is genuine sideways move into something they wanted to do, or a smoke screen to cover the stab marks on their backs.

Jeff Mcdonald cited health. And if you look at him he's become increasingly haggard as time has passed. Lon Wong always said he'd be stepping aside in 2019. I suppose that Proximax thing took up more time than he expected so did it early.
