if I was bitmain I would be running all the machines up to the last minute getting back as much as possible.
They aint in it to make you rich.

I think the future was shown when KnC priced their Neptune too high then sold those at a discount to family owning a miner farm selling shares in a low electric cost low temperature part of the world.  They effectively said don't buy our Bitcoin miners but we'll sell you shares in our farm.  It's the don't buy our Bitcoin miners that's the key.  They did start selling script miners for alt coins.  They then went on to dump the Bitcoins they owned onto the market and it's pretty much been a decline in value ever since, tho I note BTC value went up toward the end of the 2014 fiscal year.

The effect is to kill home mining.  What they may be doing, having a very efficient mining farm, low energy cost and cold climate,  is trying to drive less efficient mining gear into running at a loss, shutting those down.  That might mean dropping hashrate eventually.  As their share of the daily mined BTC increases they'll continue to dump the BTC for hard cash.  So, even tho they take a larger share of the market the price won't rise as they'll still be dumping BTC.

I really should have dumped my bitcoin horde.  Now that the electric bill is taking a larger chunk out of my social security retirement check I'm going to have to sell mined BTC this year.  Selling my mined bitcoin this year will make it clear when I start mining at a loss.  Still keeping my horde of BTC and weeping as its value declines.  I only wish Karpeles hadn't screwed the pooch and caused such a loss of confidence in Bitcoin by the general public.

This Is Exactly What I was Trying to say we are being pushed out by GREEDY BIG RICH GUYS lets Blow up all mining farms! I hate rich they ruined the economy they remind me of a bunch of stupid republicans!!!

Well as they say the rich get richer and the poor get more broke! that's life I guess.

Since BTC is not an official currency It would not be a crime if someone stole it !

10% discount has been offered to Second Hand S3+, 0.241$/Gh with free ocean shipping and MOQ is 100 units Smiley

What good is a 10% discount and free "ocean shipping" if buyers wouldn't get their second-hand S3s until after a month or so from order date?

I guess the original MOQ of 500 units didn't get any bites, hence the reduction to 100.  No surprise there.

You gotta do better than that, Bitmain.  After all, you most likely have already made lots of BTCs running those S3s in your farm.  Don't be greedy and share a miniscule portion of potential returns to the community.

exactly. Don't forget, Bitmain now have a very large percentage of mining revenue. They are directly competing with YOU and lets be honest, they will always take the highest profit they can. The only choice you have today is a company that doesn't self host or design your own miner.

<snip> img </snip>

It is a strange firmware that of Dec 16th.
Go to Miner Configuration => Advaned Settings then Save & Apply and it should hash well after that (I have not tried to but stopping and starting cgminer could also work).
Basically, another fudged firmware ....

SNIP

Had the same thing happen, only it was 1-2 chips per miner. I had to turn the PSU off and then back on. Reboots did nothing.

I am working remote, this is the newest firmware (0103). Funny I don't see 1024 anymore on the website, I guess it just got deleted.  I will try the advanced save and apply. It says S3+ (225M) default 0725.

Just bought an S5 I hope it don't Perform like the S3 !!!!. I think its the voltage buck converter Causing the Issue. The S3 Has way more than one the S5 has only one on each hash board. When I receive my S5 I will look. I have to check for broken parts any way before turning it on. Better have no dust in it!!!

This is one of the ways mentioned above that saved power as well. Don't quote me just looking at pics. I noticed two chips less than the s3 hmmm.

It's hashing better now 435 and 400 Average, not great but good enough for right now. Not what an s3+ should hash at, but at least is not 200 anymore, thanks....

Of the last 3 firmwares, the 12/16 seem to be the best.  I know they took it down, but it my early batch S3 up to 500G consistently.  I think I will go back to that one.  It was better than the 12/19.

Is it just me or is the Antminer S3+ loaded with malware? Seems like the OpenWRT BarrierBreaker software sure does have a lot of network spying related software installed....

I can't even get it to upgrade to the latest firmware after attempting to update the firmware 20+ times from Mac OS X & Windows 7...

Is there anyway to update it via SSH?

Glad I was able to assist.  They need to take that fw and make it the standard.
