I have a problem with my Antminer S3+ hoping that someone has an idea:
The miner can not be accessed, neither via WebIF nore via Ping. I bought just bought it used and did not access it yet.
I already tried to reset it, but after powering it only the (upper) red led is blinking regularly. When trying to reset it pushing the button does not change anything at all, the red light keeps blinking in the same intervall all time. Fans are not running.
What can I do? Does anyone have an idea?
Kind regards

That can be caused by not enough power. What psu are you using and how many watts on the 12 volt rail?

Buy a Trezor and Protect your BTC, BCH, BTG, DASH, LTC, DGB, ZEC, ETH and ETC from hackers.

That PSU should work. Maybe the seller had a failed firmware update?

swap around your psu's, to eliminate any fault there.

He said he had a firmware from december when he received it, but after having trouble with it he downgraded to a firmware from July.
WTF?!? I thought that S3+ support started in firmware from August? I am afraid this might be the problem....
Is there a chance to resurrect it?

I think you can fix it via the serial header on the controller board but it is not an easy task. I have never done it so I would suggest Googling for the info.

That was not the answer I was hoping for ;-)

If anyone has an idea or a kind of HowTo to do this, I would appreciate it, thanks!

Anyone who does not have the 10/24/2014 firmware, here it is. I had to go back to this firmware to get my units working correctly.

I have an S3 which showed up today I can not log in.
I do get to the screen where you enter the login and pass and I enter root / root no luck. I tried root / admin no luck. I powered off and pressed the hole beside the cat 5 LEDs for ten seconds, tried again with new browser window, same thing, tried with it powered on, same thing. What am I missing here please. It must be something dumb but it is driving me mad. I had another one from ebay show up doa today.

If you bought it used then prior owner may have changed the password?

Wouldn't "factory defaults" set it to a default password?

All good suggestions, although its not an easy flash if you can't login. Reset button will likely be broken due to shipping with November firmware if its new.

Usually with the unit powered on, use a toothpick, tech pick, I do not recommend a paperclip, good way to fry something.
press the reset button, till you see the lights go off, this is a good indicator that it is resetting. then scan for a new ip that shows up on your network, (if you are using a network).

Yeah, that's not going to be easy. Follow the alternative subnet instructions in my setup guide to see if you can find it. If not, its likely you'll have to return it to your seller.

Did you try the basics set your laptop at 192.168.1.XX(or make sure your ip on your network is 192.168.1.xx) See if you can ping it and try to log into the S3 at 192.168.1.99 after a reset and about 5 minutes they dont start really fast. Make sure you have a lan cable plugged in the lan port should flash yellow and green.

Ping the 192.168.1.99 - See if there is return

This explains ping with pictures
https://iihelp.iinet.net.au/How_to_do_a_ping_test

Finding your ip address

http://windows.about.com/od/networkconnect/a/How-To-Find-A-Computers-Ip-Address-In-Windows-7.htm

If your network is not on the 192.168.1.x then you will never reach the 192.168.1.99. Let us know I am sure if I dont answer others can. Thanks

Just a heads up you can use a S1 controller board on these with a S1 to S3 conversion kit and it will start with the S1 firmware.Just an example the firmware update would have to go really wrong to brick it.

So please check the basics first. Thanks

The best is whatever is already on it if it works. No reason to flash just to flash. Oct. 25th works great but no reset button functionality.

Buy a Trezor and Protect your BTC, BCH, BTG, DASH, LTC, DGB, ZEC, ETH and ETC from hackers.
