They have had enough time to fix a few things, if that's what they chose to do. I hope so.  Not digging the theory that they are just sitting on them mining.

so quick numbers my evga 1300 is pulling about 665 watts at the plug to run 2 of these at standard clocks of 218.75 freq.

the fans are running 1800/1500 on the machine that gives me 447gh temps 37/39

the fans are running 1620/1320 on the machine that give me 440gh temps 39/39

room is 78f  or 25.5 c

pretty quiet. not silent

665watt/887gh = .749 watts a hash.  yet to use a plat psu and clock a little lower

I am running both machines at bitsolo.net they give me best share info. at btcguild.com no best share info.

bitsolo has me at number 7 with more then 600gh .  needs time to show correctly.

height = 167 mm

width = 134 mm

length = 340 mm

fans =  120 mm    the 140 mm quote from bitmaintech is a diagonal measurement of the fan grill's hole placement.

resellers beware do not advertise the fans as 140mm if you sell with a cc or paypal a nasty buyer would have a good chance of getting a refund over the fan size.

all in all right now the best gear available bar none.

Have you attempted any OC at all, yet? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699064.0

No as this pair is going into my friends office on monday.

 I need quiet.
 I need under low watts.

at freq 218.75  they are not as quiet as the 3 s-1's I had in his office.
at 665 watts     they are 100 watts more then  the 3 s-1's

  so 420 gh at 560 watts and really quiet .  freq 275 and the pencil mod.

 will be:

880 gh at 665 watts and quiet freq 218.75

I think  I may try to run at  freq 212   If I can go to 820gh and 600 watts with fans at 1200 it will be perfect for his office.

That happened sometimes with my S1 as well. It is not a big deal unless your hashrate is suffering.

reboot.  if it does not go away switch around your power from the psus.  if that does not work ssh in and down clock it.  give me 2 minutes I will show you one s-3 at stock and one downclocked

I just did it a few minutes ago  so this is more of a last resort.  the numbers are not firmed up yet I will run as the lower freq to see if it is a big power savings or if it quieter.

~410 compared to ~430-440 on my other 2..so yeah it's suffering.

coincidentally, same machine, but the other blade, temp probes sits at 0..

okay first  switch your power setup around.  maybe just the bad  s-3 and the best psu

 do a gui reboot.  click system. click reboot then reboot via gui.  if not do the ssh and try the downclock,

Rebooting was the first things I did. I was thinking it might be the thermal paste thing some folks are saying have affected these blades.

I just switched the cables around and so far it's good. I'm going to let it run a few and see what happens, thanks.

no problem  it can be psu's.  sometimes a psu can do 1.9 s-1's or s-3's   not 2 of them    so you get 1 x   btw I just downclocked my second s-3  I will screen shot then and leave them over nite.

will run these two overnite.. the 212.5 freq looks pretty good

was any thermal grease or paste used to connect the chips to the heatsink?

Got 3 of 6 up and running. You guys doing diff 256 or 512 for these guys ?

One of the three I have up and running is throwing more HW errors compared to the rest. Stock clocks. Each running on it's own 750W+ power supply.

*shrugs* More troubleshooting tomorrow...

EDIT: Minor annoyance, it would be nice if there was a way to disable the beeping entirely. Even the beep when it turns on. Causes wife-aggro something fierce when it beeps on reconnection to a server. I have disabled the option for beeping in the Miner Configuration menu.

You can. Under Miner Configuration "Beeper ringing". Change it from "true" to "false"
Tried that Sad Maybe it's not possible to disable certain types of beeps ? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

this reduces beeps to one each pool drop/switch.  So 1 is better then 20 non stop.  But in my case 0 would be better.

I got today my S3. One is working fine but the other one was not hashing at all because it had frequency set to 350 MHz.
I tried to reset settings but same so I manually edit the "asic-freq" file and set it to 218MHz. After that it start hashing around 440GH/S but it show a strange status page with double number of ASICs but half are "x".

Using ssh I notice that cgminer binary is different on the 2 systems. I tried copy the binary from the "good" one to the "bad" one but it does not hash at all.

The "bad" one also show fan speed of 0 for chain #2 but visually both fans are spinning at high speed.

I hope this is just an old firmware of something like that. I guess it will be fixed when Bitmain will release a firmware update for S3 and after that I'll get consistent Miner Status results on both units.

Power usage at the wall for the "good" is 337W and for the "bad" one is 323W.

Do you have dhcp enabled? set a static ip
Ahh, yes. I configured all my S3's as DHCP instead of static. Thanks ! I'll reconfigure in the morning !

EDIT: Reconfigured one as static IP, still beeps once on reboot. Oh well. Not going to complain too loudly. The one machine that was throwing more HW errors than the others finally ended up x'ing one of the chips in the asic status. Will disassemble and check the heatsinks and all that good stuff tomorrow.

That screenshot is promising for the possible upgrade path for people with s1/s2's... Either you have control board from an s1 running your s3 (possibly a test that was shipped by accident, and clocked at 350mhz) or a s3 control board with s1 firmware... Very interesting!

well, I still havent got my units up and running whatsoever.  Neither of them even connect to my router anymore. I`ve tried accessing them ,and all my webpage says is that its not available. I have a feeling the image of openwrt is currupted.  I cant even ssh into them (although maybe i`m using the wrong settings).  I assume its 192.168.1.99 root root and port 24?
