i don't see any b6 for 0.66-did they took it off?

Yep, they sure did...I assume because B5 is not yet sold out.  I think originally it said shipping August 12th.
It did say the 12th before they took it down lol
As for the quantities sold.

I have ordered b4 to b5 units that have shipped with serial numbers ranging from the mid 1800 to the low 3100s

They are selling many units and fast shipping times.

I just got back from UPS to send my faulty board back to Bitmain.  The guy at the counter was amazed that the label was for Express service, and he said that costs over $1000 to do that!  If Bitmain would set up an advance replacement system (with a small BTC deposit for security against receiving the faulty unit), they could save that excessive cost in one direction of the warranty process.

I just sent them an email to that effect.  It's a win/win - Bitmain could save a lot of money by only having to ship the replacement part on the expensive service, and use a regular (cheap) service to receive the faulty.  The customer benefits by getting the replacement part first and won't have to shut down their mining hardware while waiting for the replacement (at least in cases unlike mine where they at least have a partially operable unit).

BITMAIN - PLEASE CONSIDER THIS!  Not only is it pretty much standard practice for a lot of manufacturers, in this case it actually will SAVE YOU A SHIPLOAD OF MONEY.    Add to that the side-effect of happy customers, I don't see how you can't implement this!

Can you give me a single example of an electronics manufacturer agreeing to send out a replacement part before they receive the defective part?!?!  Certainly not standard practice.

Also, companies that ship large amounts negotiate rates with the carriers directly, NO WAY that costs bitmain anything close to $1000!

Certainly they can negotiate better rates, but why would they use a premium service when they don't have to?  Even at negotiated rates, that is still going to be significantly more expensive.

As for advance replacements, I guess it depends on your industry.  I work in IT doing network and server support through my own company.  If a network switch, or a server hard drive dies, my client is NOT going to want to wait 2-3 weeks for the replacement to come in.  Most manufacturers in this sector for mission critical and time-sensitive applications frequently offer the option of sending out an advance replacement.  Lots of times a credit card is required as security against receiving the defective part.  The replacement part is overnighted (in most cases) and the packaging is used to send the replacement part back (ensuring proper packaging instead of just whatever materials can be found).  Return label is included in the shipment of the replacement part, and all you have to do is box it up, call the number on the courier label and request a pickup.

I received my B5's today (ordered July 25) via UPS.  Both are great, hashing right speeds, etc.  Except I noticed one ran hotter than the other...

The fan in the back (the one that pushes air out) never turns on.  I opened the case up - it's plugged in fine.  I tried swapping the fans to make sure one wasn't just broken - fan in the back still doesn't go.  So it isn't the fan that is broken.  Anybody have any similar issues / any ideas?

EDIT: I put the case back on and decided to let it run for a while, and the fan turned on. Lucky me. Good suggestions though. If it happens again, I'll just connect the fan directly to PSU.

Yes, 1 out of my 8 had that fan controller problem.  No big deal, just buy a replacement and connect directly to the psu.

I'm having the same problem as you.  I contacted both via pre-sale and after sales with a similar question,  asking when my order would be shipped first and then asking why others appear to have been shipped ahead of my order of four units when their orders were made days later than mine. I have yet to receive any response on the Bitmain website messaging system.

yeah I work in IT too, and Dell does this

they ship you the part with return label, if after 60 days or some other time frame they dont get the defective part they charge you.

BITMAIN could easily set this up, requiring a small deposit up front and then ship the part directly to you with the return label included in the package

Bitmain wont expend any more overhead than they need to which is obvious for the lack of quality control and the handling of their shipping queue.

Maybe instead, you should rule with an iron grasp of sentence construction.

I think I understand the gist of what he was trying to say Smiley  However, my point remains that this approach is costing them far more than it needs to.  Penny-wise Pound-foolish, as they say.

this is how i fixed my S3 ant that had an "X" in the asics .. i cracked open the S3 and removed the rating 3 stock paste just over the asic chips (above pic) and applied a thick coating (thicker than put on the asics side) of gc-extreme thermal paste just over the asic chips leaving the stock paste covering the rest of the heatsink.. .. the X is now gone and i have all o's now .. however i am still working on getting a decent clock from it .. all my other S3 ants are oced to 500g/hs @250 clock except this one. i am keep working on it because now that the asic chip is staying cool it might start hashing.

2 Antminer S3
Stock Clocks

1 day 5 hours in....441 GH/s avg speed per Antminer S3
Temps 41-43
All chips working!
Pool showing avg of 900 gh/s avg with peaks to 1000 gh/s and lows to 850 gh/s....WestHash.com

Second pair already passed customs and is suppose to be delivered tomorrow. So I will have 4 devices setup. I hope to see some 2 Th/s on the peaks! Hehe!

Will run stock clocks for at least a week. I am pulling 730 watts for two antminers s3 connected to a 850 watt power supply.

Don't try to use the dell 750 server power supply it won't handle two antminer S3's on stock clocks. I moved these all to my Zeus Miner Hurricane X3. Dumped my old GPU rigs and used the power supplies that were in there. everything is running fine now.

Hate to see my electric bill next month though...hehe!

The people bitching about the shipping, you got to use DHL if your in the states. They let you pre-sign too.

Looks like my last batch was shipped yesterday and will arrive tomorrow that's less than 2 days.

It sucks that there are still people with stuff held up in customs that was batch 3....I feel for you.

DHL....DHL....

UPS sucks ass!

So what should Bitmain customers in the UK use for shipping? EMS,  UPS or DHL? Which one is best for customs and delivery times? Which one delivers direct? Which one holds packages the longest / shortest? Which one doesn't add stupid admin charges before delivery?
